My FAVORITE scrap quilting EVER!!!!
I really like your QAYG method. I keep looking for the easiest one.
I am happy with it!! Next time, I would stabilize the sashing more before I stitched. I might even fuse it in place!!
Looks good! thx
You are welcome. It was fun to film!
I like it!
Thanks!! I am really happy with it too!!
Mandalas and quilting ❤❤❤. I needed to see a great demo! I subscribed immediately. Thank you Frances.
Enjoy Denise. I did 12 of them in 2024 and am currently putting them into a quilt!! Let me know if you have any questions!!
Thanks for that review. I too had that first Panasonic cordless model and it worked well for me for years. I then got the 607A, which worked well but did not give much steam (and I like lots of steam). It died young at 2 years...maybe I just had a lemon. I replaced it with the WL-600, which is working well and steaming well, but does not have the ceramic soleplate, which I miss. Note that I only use the cordless iron on the little pressing station I have machine-side, which runs about 4' long, at right angles to my machine table: that area is tight and I don't like dealing with an iron cord there. The cordless irons are great in that small space. For larger pressing chores I use a big pressing table and a corded iron that gives tons of heat and steam. However, based on your review, I think I will treat myself to the QL2000 and gift my 600 to some deserving person. Oddly, it is available on Amazon.ca (which works for me as I am in Canada), but not on Amazon.com
I hope you enjoy it. I have been using it for about 3 months now and I am still REALLY happy with it!! And, I agree about steam....the more the better!!
Thanks.
You are welcome!!
Love how you describe the process. Very helpful!
I am so glad that you found it helpful!!
Omg! I was just going to do a search for tutorials on using procreate to practice quilt designs. VERY timely for me.
I am so glad that you found it!! It is the main thing that I use my I-pad for!!
Love it and 5 lines makes it look great.
Thanks!! I liked how it looks and I am really enjoying quilting on it. It is fairly mindless!!
What kind of gloves are you wearing?
I use "Machingers". You can buy them at Amazon.... amzn.to/4j8pYhL I use the Small/Medium size.
???? what's happening with videos? Nothing shows.
They seem to be there now. So sorry that you had problems!!
Great ideas. I will give them a try. Thanks. TX/PR🤩😘
Showing your process is so helpful. Thank you.
I am glad that it helps. Sometimes the word "process" is really just chaos!!
Terrific idea and perfect teaching! Thank you!😊
Thanks Sharon!! I am glad that it was helpful!!
Thank you for the demonstration of folding fabric.
I hope that it helped!! My stash started out neatly organized by color but has gotten VERY messed up over the last few years. It is definitely time for a clear out!!
Or you can use a compass
I did think about that, but didn't have one big enough!!!
Will you be doing any more mandalas? I enjoyed the process
Yes, I have two more planned to do in the next month and then put the quilt together!!
Thank you for your prompt response
Nice technique.
Thanks. I was certainly happy that it didn't take as long as I was expecting!!!
thx
You are welcome. It is such an easy and effective quilting technique!!
thx
thx
Looks like a good one, but it had better be, because at $23, it is BY FAR the most expensive one.
I agree that it is expensive, but it works for SO many different needle sizes and it has been worth it to me!! BUT, some of the others are good too!!
All the quilts are so beautiful and inspiring. Thank you for showing them.
You are welcome Jackie. It was a fun show!!
I learn something New today. Thankyou very much. Tx/PR
You are welcome and I am glad that you learned something new!!
Thankyou very much. I learn a couple things with you today. I am exited! GBY TX/PR
There are so many different types. I hope you figure out which will work best for you!!
I love your humor, Frances! This mandala play is fascinating me…I have moved it to the top of my to do list. Am thinking of incorporating prayer flag with the mandala…maybe…
That would be really sweet Carolyn. I would love to see it!!
Great suggestions. I love your presentation style, straight to the point!
Thanks Kathy. I hope people learn something that helps them....tension issues are so debilitating!!
Thank you, Frances. I'm a beginning machine quilter and have struggled to figure out the best way to start and finish. This video is super helpful!
I am so glad that it was helpful Linda. Please contact me if I can help further!!
Finally! 7:25 A very clear explanation AND demonstration of the terms and technique. I really appreciate the explanation for when to use each technique: routine/regular quilt use versus show quality. TY Frances! Off to purchase the snag magic tool!
I am glad that it helped Dan!! Can't wait to see what you do with your quilting!!
thx
You are very welcome!!
ThAnk you, Frances, the snagmatic tool looks quite helpful! “Hope to see you again soon” !
It is a great tool!!
I will try this method but I will baste the backing fabric on the wall first. I will also dedicate a ruler to have the handle or good suction as it will make the flattening much easier. Thank you very much for sharing.
Thank you very much for sharing.
You are so welcome!! I really do enjoy FMQ!!
I'm amazed at how quickly you quilted this! It looks great.
I was surprised at how fast it went as well. It was a fun one to quilt!!
Stunning!
Thanks!! I am certainly having fun working on them!!
Frances, I’m having trouble finding how you make your grids. Do you have a video on that? Thanks in advance.
Awesome! You are inspiring me to try this. Now, I have to find how you marked this.
I am so glad. They really are fun to do!! Check out this video for the setup..... ruclips.net/video/tISkmkbSAeM/видео.html
Loving this one!
Hi there, does your quilt backing ever wrinkle after you spray baste?
As long as I stretch the back on the wall and pin it in place, it does fine. In this video I did NOT do that and I ended up having to pull some of it back and re-do it!! As I said, this was how NOT to baste a quilt!!
What a great idea! Love this. And had to laugh at your comment about gym being torture!
I had so much fun doing it Toni and it will DEFINITELY show up more in my quilts!! I love watching stuff while I exercise because I get interested and look up to find that I am through!!
Thx
Hi, Frances I've just enjoyed your presentation at the Conquer your fabric scraps Summit. Thanks for all your hints and tips. Came over here and subscribed. Gwen in Wales x
Thanks for the kind words, Gwen. The summit has been so informative....I need 40 hours per day to try all of my new ideas!
Thank you for this tutorial. I tried comic books, but I hate them. . . I'm going to try this. I found you through the 2024 Scrap Summit.
I am so glad that it was helpful. I hope you are enjoying the Summit.....it has been great so far!!
Brilliant!
Wasn't it though!! I sure wish that I could claim the idea!!
Great would it have been easier to use walking foot for straight quilting ? I find deciding what to quilt hard, I like the way you did the white section😊
Thanks. I had a lot of fun quilting it!!! As for the straight lines, I was quilting on my Sit-Down Longarm so there is no walking foot. Besides, I LOVE using straight-edge rulers!!
Beautiful!!
THanks so much!!
This was entertaining to watch and so very helpful. Thanks!
I am so glad Karen. I sure had fun doing it!!
Did you decorate your machine or did it come that way? I've never seen such a pretty Juki!
I added the decals that I bought from Urban Elementz. I named her Juanita!!
@@FrancesQuilts I just discovered your channel and, according to your labels you made, you are a fellow Georgian. Love that machine.
@@proud2bktsmama Texan by birth but living in the Athens area now. Where are you?

@@proud2bktsmama Very cool. Maybe we can meet up sometime. I also do guild talks if yours might be interested. francesquilts.com/workshops-and-talks/
You use film cameras to make your videos? Aren't you using a digital camera?
Oh yes I am fully digital, but am also old and still say FILM!!!
Making test blocks are key particularly when you have seamed interior blocks (such as a 9 patch center on a 9 patch block). You will find out very quickly if you needed a scant! I decided to use up some scraps and make 3.5" finished LeMoyne Stars. Now, when I make the bigger stars, I use a scant for the diamond seams and a full for the insets (to preserve points). Well, my little blocks were finishing too large using this method. I needed full 1/4" for all seams. I make a block, staple a piece of paper to it and put my component measures and maker's notes on it for quick reference. Great video.
Thanks for watching and commenting!! I have found that my blocks end up being the right size when I use my tape method. I love that I don't have to worry about it anymore!!!
@@FrancesQuilts I use my #57 foot (gated foot) on my Bernina. It doesn't bend or toe out like many of them and rides over seams easily. If I need a scant, I simply go one click to the right. If I need an accurate quarter, it stays in the middle. Test block determines which I need to use when to get accurate block size for inter block seaming or intra block fitting. It has a straight stitch plate but is not a plate sensor...so I can move the needle --to include using a zig zag which is a bonehead move! Love your vids. Keep them coming.
@@notesfromleisa-land My Viking would allow me to move the needle and I loved that feature. I now have a Juki straight stitch so I cant move the needle which is another reason that I LOVE my tape!!
@@FrancesQuilts I have a straight stitch Juki too. You have to employ these methods with straight stitch machines.
