My Noco Boost is Dead...can I fix it?
My Noco Boost GBX55 booster pack will no longer accept a charge. I believe the battery voltage has dropped below the level where the internal electronics will start charging. No lights on the pack...she's dead!
This video is my attempt to resurrect the jump pack where it can be charged via the USBC port and continue to get me out of trouble when I run down the car battery!
*Disclaimer - this can be dangerous. Do not take my advice. Do not attempt this unless you're completely comfortable with electronic repairs.... and you're desperate!

It's time to transform our 1987 chalet into a wonderful modern barn / long house. We always figured on moving up to our chalet in ski country north of Toronto but thanks for Covid, things happened a little sooner than we originally anticipated. We've been living in our little chalet for the past 2 1/2 years and now we are 8 months away from moving into our new digs! This video is the first in a...
1984 Vanagon gets some upgrades!
Просмотров 10 тыс.Год назад
After 39 years, my vanagon needed some suspension and brake upgrades. Over the winter months, I installed the @SmallCarPerformance Big Brake Kit, along with Bilstein HD shocks, Schwenk springs and polyurethane bushings from Powerflex...along with a few other bits and pieces. As a newbie mechanic, it was a big job, but also a rewarding one as I learned some stuff and have a better Westy to show ...

Building a Rope Tow!

When covid-19 shut down our local ski resort, we decided to build our own! We designed and fabricated our very own rope tow. We added in a few rails and features and now have our very own little snow park for Freestyle Skiing and Snowboarding in the backyard! Our boys compete in Slopestyle so this gives them the opportunity to train in the backyard and work on tricks any time - day or night. It...

Clendenan Trail Mountain Bike

A hyper lapse mountain bike tour of the Clendenan trail in Clarksburg Ontario. Beautiful fall day on the Beaver River!
Nice job. I did the same on my ‘86 a few years ago. I went with Fox shocks and GoWesty lift spring, I wish I would have went with the Schwenks. The GoWesty springs are too soft. How do you like the Schwenks? I kept the front brakes stock and converted the rears to discs (this was the most noticeable change).
Do you have the plans available?
@@TheStrangerIII no plans but I do plan to make a follow up…coming soon!

Sir you are a genius 👍
Great project and good inspiration for your kids.
Awesome video! Very helpful. I'm planning on building one soon as well as a zipline. Do you have a parts list or diagram? Thank you!
Very high quality video, and good explanation too. We were going to build a rope tow out at our grandparents house but never got to it. Looks sick though!
Awesome video. Now cut some of those trees and buckthorn/brush down that are in the way! :)
Thanks! Funny you mention the brush/trees…we just did exactly that. Going to try to post an update video soon!
Thank you for the video. I had already followed through with similar procedure and was successful so you confirmed my assessment and it was a successful adventure; we didn't let the smoke out...lol. Always reassuring to see someone get similar results and thanks for your efforts.
That's great that you had success! Thanks!
Could you sell this?
@@adampecorari2015 I guess I could. But no plans to. Snowpro makes a commercially available model
Can the Anker battery bank trick where you plug the usbc cable in and the other end into the usba resetting the battery bank.
I had bought a pair of GBX 45s on sale. I returned them after learning of this issue.
Like
this may sound goofy but if the lithium ion packs below detectable voltage you can try this as I have had some success with other battery powered items that develop the same issue. Just plug and unplug the usb charger over and over again for about 5 mins, this seems to give the battery a small charge each time it is plugged in and it usually will start charging and numerous bump charges as I call it. Nothing ventured nothing gained.
Great video. It’s nice to see the problems found and how to solve it, by a non perfect mechanic as most of us are.
How much should be installed? Full coverage? Or just a given %
Excelent content and editing!! I’ll be waiting for more!
any instructions? this so cool you are a legend
@@christianbuchanan-i3b thanks. May do a follow up this fall

@@HondaFit4Adventure ruclips.net/video/-xueq2GjKs0/видео.html
@@HondaFit4AdventureI think, the GND potential of the USB is wired directly to the battery Minus. So, Minus to the USB GND and Plus to the Plus terminal might work.
Thanks for the content. Been buying parts all winter/spring and getting ready for a big refresh. Deleting the driver swivel hadn’t occurred to me, good idea!
Thanks! Only thing I miss about the driver seat is the height. I’m 6’3” and now that the seat is about an inch lower I kinda miss the height. But worth it I’d say! I may add in some rails to get the height back.
Well this sucks! i just bought one. Maybe I should send it back! Why should I have to fix it after 6 months? What a piece of crap!
For what it's worth, I had the gbx 45 and when I needed it it was always working for 3 years. But, I drained the battery completely and left it in a drawer for about a year and that's what killed it for me. As long as you check it semi frequently and keep it mostly topped up it should last a while longer than that.
Mine is 3 yo as well and I used it lots, great little unit…..But i let it go flat and now I can’t charge it. No happy
@@liamgross7217 I've since managed to revive mine by applying 12v directly to the battery just untill the voltage reads above a certain threshold and then plugged into a usb charger, it seemed to work pretty well if you're comfortable with disassembling it a bit. Don't have to mess with any solder luckily enough.
@@garrettvella8831 much appreciated. I’m going to try it on a 60w charger tomorrow, apparently people have had some some success doing that. If not I’ll pull it apart, I can’t hurt what’s not working I guess. It’s been really good up until now.
Nice one, the van is looking ace.
Same as my genius 10 peace of crap I never even used .New out of the box
sweet thanks
PB Blaster man's third arm.👍
Video not helpful, it goes too fast. Need to slow down and explain step by step what you are doing.
Sorry it didn’t live up to expectations! It wasn’t meant to be a step by step instructional video. There are already some good videos out there that are more instructional. Best of luck to you.
What charger was used to charge the internal battery I have a gbx75 that’s got the same issue Thanks
I used an RC car battery charger. But any small charger would work. I think the biggest thing is you want to charge with very low amps…just enough to get it above the low voltage cutoff. So go slow and low so you don’t do any damage. **I’m not an expert so do what you’re comfortable with!
Use the 12v car charger connection for about 20mins then plug try it with usb. The car charger is strong enough to overcome the resistance of the battery.
@@phil111ify i can confirm this works. saved me buying a new jump pack. Thanks
@@phil111ify mine dident come with one😢
Thanks for the vid. Been repairing Ryobi batteries in a similar manner for a while now and was looking to see if similar process could be followed for these ! I’ll open mine up later today ! Thanks again
Cool! Hope it works out for you!
Does it perform the emergency bypass for jumping dead batteries ?
Yes, works as normal.
prismatic batteries..interesting choice.
I love the walkthrough and upgrades you have done awesome job 😊😊😊
The fact that i know the ski resort in 0:19 makes me so happy. Ski resort: Blue mountain (its pretty good)
You got it!! That’s where we ski (other than our yard!
Top man, i have to do the same on my 81 Westfalia Joker. Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
Thanks! Yeah, so much fun playing with these old vans! We used to drive these around Germany and Austria back in the 80s. My old ski team days. Hard to keep up on the autobahn!!
How did you go about getting the rope and making it the right length/ splicing it to be a circle?
We laid out the rope and marked the length with a marker. Then brought the ends inside and did a splice. Followed a RUclips video on spicing 3 strand rope. Was not too hard.
@@makeadventurecanada thanks! I hope soon to also have a backyard rope tow. Spent a whole bunch of time clearing trees. Now I gotta just put up the hardware.
Best of luck! Hoping to put out a follow up video soon. People have been asking…more focussed on equipment and technical aspects.
@@makeadventurecanada was planning to run it off my tractor’s PTO. Still trying to figure out a safety switch…
My town has a nice toboggan hill and I wish they would install a rope tow, would really get the kids out of the house and wouldn't cost much. I'm sure locals would fund it too.
The problem is always insurance. Even a rope tow needs the same insurance that ski resorts use. It's the reason small ski hills go out of business
Excellent vid and full of ideas for a 1987 Westy owner! I’m gonna be starting some suspension upgrade so I will look at your video on suspension. I have the GSD one and a half inch lift with gas shocks, but do need upper bushings and control arm bushings. Hopefully your video will have information around that. Cheers.
Right on!
просто молодец!
Where’s the follow up with the parts list, etc? Do you have a model of the frame?
Coming soon!!
Great video.
Many thanks!!
Have you got before and after pictures
Just watched are you all fixed up now
But isn’t that just the Volkswagen logo upside down?
I have no idea what you mean ;)
hey where did you get the pulleys that are at the bottom of the rope thats the last thing I need I made mine gas powered
I used a couple of these to guide the return as well as the bottom pulley. Just ripped the tire off. They work fairly well. Be better if they had proper bearings. Good luck with your project!

I saw your parts list and am waiting to get approved on Instagram so I can see direct links to the parts, to see if they'll work for my setup. Any help/advice would be great.
Hi, I am looking to build one like yours and would like the links of your supplies so I can see if I've got it all planned out correctly. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks, Todd
Hi again, Did you switch motors, because it looks like you're using a 2HP motor, but you say below that it's a 3HP motor. Also, I'm wondering what size sprockets you used, and the stub axle, wheel, and gear box. Thank you
Great job! I'm wondering what wheels you have on your Westy? Planning a big brake and suspension job in the future but I need to upgrade my wheels first.
Many thanks! I’ve got 16” wheels from gowesty. I think they’re pretty much Mercedes knock-offs.
