This is my 2 1/5 ton army truckI have sold it but decided to keep up the video for interested viewers of the M35a2 truck for eye candy! Thanks!
This makes me proud to be an American.
Awesome
Deadline no spare
2:21 It's incredible they put a holder between and behind the wheels. I'm assembling a kit where they put fire extinguishers there
Now, that's a truck.
Very nice and hefty kit. I can see some distinct possibilities with one of those, including an awesome paint job and some solar panels to power toys. Have fun!
Blimey it was soo kool till that dog barking ruined it hehe
Sweet
What kinda mileage are you getting? Lol
Around 3mpg is very avg, regardless of wor load
GORGEOUS TRUCK I WANT ONE
This is so sick. Gorgeous property, too!
Ruddy dogs.....
It's an Oshkosh
I want to know where can I buy one at
I drove one at Ft. Carson for 2 years. My roommate and I drove it off a 15’ straight drop then proceeded to drop at a 70 degree incline for another 500’. Got to the bottom and the fuel/water separater gasket blow at the bottom of the hill. Asst. section chief wasn’t too happy hehe
I seriously hate people that just let their dogs bark instead of telling them to be quiet.
tell the dog to shut up
Why do I think "zombie survival vehicle " when I see it? Fully enclose the flat-bed. Partition it, add home comforts like a bed, bedroom, living room and kitchen with all the relevant amenities and you're set. Zombie hordes, no problem. You just drive straight through them. Stop anywhere safe and sound. Unless they learn how to climb. 😲
ruclips.net/video/RI5RSX_-k_k/видео.html. Somebody is using parts of your video. Around 5:25 mark.
Yea I need one 😂, my wife say “need ???” “..........!!
i've driven M977's on 3 different continents. also 3 variants of the same truck. - the actual name is: Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck (HEMTT) - 12L detroit turbo diesel (739cubic inch) engine neutered down to 400 hp. (these are the #'s taught in HEMTT school @ ft. leonard wood, mo) - air actuated accelerator SUCKS till it's broken in. a new one feels like you're either full throttle or not on the gas at all. - they get 2mpg... yup two, that's loaded or empty. - fuel cap. = 150 gallons - max stock speed = 62.5mph (don't change the governor to get more speed, you'll be sorry if you do) - the window on the floor on the drivers side, that's for fording water. it's also useful for knowing where the outside edge of your tire will ride on the road. - the crane is supposed to be able to lift 2.5tons. good luck with that, and be VERY careful of the sensors. - DON'T drop it in gear with the RPM's up. the transmission will kill the engine. - when making sharp turns the rear axles make terrible noises, this is normal. there are clutch plates in there to keep them from destroying themselves. - if you run it out of fuel the mechs will say you're F'd. just run the air hose to the vent line on top of the tank and pressurize the tank slightly. then have someone try to start it till the air is pushed out.
How much different are the M984 and MMRS?
@@ethanwild3301 i didn't drive that particular variant. but in the cab actually driving, they're all pretty much the same till you move on to the 10x10 PLS. the counter steering #5 axle makes it feel like your driving on ice. some guys never got over the weaving feel while going at higher speeds (45mph+).
It’s “fjord.” I drove HEMTTs 1996-99
You are absolutely correct, except you are some what off on the engine. The 8V-92's in any Oshkosh were at 500 HP/1,470 TQ not 400 HP.The M977-M985 HEMTT had the 8V-92 TA and then the M1070 HET had a 8V-92 TT,so it was twin turbo charged AND super charged as well, but the HEMTT only had one turbo charger. They used the exact same 8V-92 TA for the LVS MK-48 and MKR-16 in the Marines, even before the LVSR,having the 92 Series too, came out and put the dragon wagon in to retirement, which the MK-48 had a MK-14 to MK-18 Hydraulic trailer for it and had steering articulation just like the DA-1500 fire trucks. Now,all of those trucks use Caterpillar, they all have a 600 HP 14.6L C-15 ACERT,espiecally in the M977A4-M985A4,but the M1070A1 how ever has a 700 HP C-18,being a 18.1L. I can't exactly remember the real number on the 8V-92,but I think it was 12.7L just like the 60 Series.
Use a dam wind sock
What are you going to do with that ? Is that in memory of your service? VERY VERY nice rig !!!
Puuuuhhhhhh, I only own a 1:12 model, BUT with a tiny diesel engine (currently 1 cylinder - will be upgraded to a V4 engine.
Can the crane lift a 20ft container on to the bed?
maybe if it's empty. the crane is rated for 2.5tons but they have trouble lifting that much even when the arm is all the way in.
The cranes on the M985 were actually made to lift heavy rocket pods that weigh more than 5,000 lbs.The light crane arms on the M977 were not built to handle MLRS rockets. As for containers,in the Army, they use the PLS such as the M1074-M1120 for that.A M1075 itself can lift a armored and loaded M1167 HMMWV or MATV and hold it with no stress. In the Marines, they have the LVSR,which hauls containers,it's also a 10×10 just like the MKR-16 in the Marines, and the Army's PLS. The LVSR is what came out after the LVS MK-48.
Too bad they don't make one with Eaton 18-speed manual transmission... then again most Americans can't even drive stick, so an automatic transmission on American military truck actually makes sense (it's easier for rookie soldiers to drive an automatic than to learn all the nuances of a manual transmission).
To be honest, an eaton 18 speed is not something I'll want on this but I barely no anything about those transmission. Seems like it'll be a pain offroad
Why the added from grill guard?
Hemtt motorhome/rv
Two miles per gallon...
giant tonka truck the kind we as kids only dream about
forty tons of sexy HEMTT
the dogs are like what the hell is that
I'll bet you don't have to worry about having enough room, when you run to the grocery store! Just a guess, parallel parking is a bitch? ;-)
Thats decepticon's
I love this vehicle.
This reminds me of when my HEMTT was delivered 😢. I have a flatbed but would prefer a trailer like yours with sides. Nice “acquisition”!
HEMMTs are awesome! I had 2 in my Assault and Obstacle section (aka platoon). They're a dream hauled every engineering module we needed and even more when we pulled trailers. Air ride and AC, what more could you as for on maneuvers and in combat
i've driven more than a few and never had AC. the vent is pretty good though.
Paul C Same here, we must be old-timers! (I got out almost 22 years ago.) Never felt a HEMTT with air ride, either.
@@NH2112 that fan blows pretty hard and draws from under the front. maybe Guy H is confused. i got out the first time in '95, then again in '02
Paul C I’ve read that AC was part of an upgrade that included armor packages and a few other things. Makes sense, armor doesn’t help much if you have the windows down in the heat. And we couldn’t even get DEH to turn the AC on in the barracks. “It has to be 90+ for 10 days before we can turn it on.” 9 days of 90+ and 1 day of 89, no good.
@@NH2112 i never had AC while on deployment. and spent 2 summers in the s. korea hot completely without it. now... lol i have a separate window unit for my office along with the central air in my house. i keep it 68F in here all year round. 🙂
Great demo but the deuce nearly flattened those ramps. LMAO
What is diffrence between m977and m885?
M Wasim pervez Jaan The m985 has a heavier lifting capacity crane
HASSON454 Yep, the M985 was developed specifically for hauling MLRS rocket pods, which weigh a little over 5000lb each (I forget the exact figure, it’s been over 20 years), so the 3500ish pound M977 crane obviously wasn’t enough. They also have pod stops in the bed to help secure the pods.
Is that a detroit?
8V-92 Detroit Diesel
why have one?
bob crawford well because this is my favorite army truck I've always wanted. Also they are no longer available to the public besides the 160 odd some that were released. That and they're awesome
Because he can
bob crawford Why Not?!? 😆 🙂☺😊
Ungh! That's his business. The Company I worked for here in Australia had these Osh Koshs back in the early 2000s as support vehicles in the drilling industry. From memory i think they were ex United Nations units. Some even had the odd Bullitt hole in them. Noisy 500hp GMs.They were crowd pleasers and you'd often get people commenting at servos. Though loaded with drill rods and consumables they sat on their asses. Never really went the distance. We called them throw away military vehicles. The 8x8 MAN and Merc Actross Trucks were always better suited. Still! I do remember being young and happy as shit to drive one when I still had some hearing back then.
i like to own one of these trucks
talk about "turbo bark" lol! good for you! hope you get to really enjoy that truck it must be pretty awesome owning one! thanks for sharing. Looking forward to my own 6 year old Christmas morning feeling too!
Hello. I have 9 new goodyear tires for this truck for sale if you are interested. I also have 2 new unused eaton axles in their original shipping crate for sale for this truck and a branick model M tire spreader.
Very gut ...i want to have, too
How do you prime the engine on the M977?..thx
carlosaleman1 disconnect the fuel return, and pressurize the tank to 2 psi to 3 psi max and wait for fuel to come out of the return.
ok...Thank you
Awesome! Another HEMTT video! thanks for sharing!
5 Ton Gaming Im thinking I should had that sweet Detroit running from the beginning
When I was younger I wanted to save up and buy a H1 Hummer, but now as a mature adult I want one of these :)
gunfuego ironically these were going for a lot less than the hmmwv were at auction.
HASSON454 lol yep. I keep watching a bunch of auction sites but I can't afford one yet lol
What auction you got this from? I don't see a single on govplanet
@@HASSON454 Not anymore. May I ask how much you paid for it? There is a company in Missouri now that buys a great many heavy former US tactical vehicles like this, refurbishes them, and sells them for more than double what they pay for them.
@@warlord8954 I bought off auction when they still allowed them they are no longer legal to buy except the 300 odd ones that were already sold. I sold this one for 30
How much are you asking for it?
M977 with winch, rare as they were usually on the M985. Too bad these tires are crapola, you can get stuck in wet grass with these. Michelins were the best and even if they were directions they gave you traction.
The winch was definitely a bonus, these are 1600 michelin tires and they're awesome in mud and sand so far.
Sweet. I just got an M985.
