HERE IS A COPY Chef Letty's 12-Step Branding Guide for Home Bakers 1. Define Your Baking Identity Decide what makes your baking unique. Are you known for specialty cakes, cookies, or pastries? Example: "At Cakes by Kris, Kris specializes in elegant wedding cakes that are both beautiful and delicious." 2. Know Your Ideal Customers Identify who your main customers are. Are they families, event planners, or corporate clients? Example: "Kris’s ideal customers are couples planning their weddings who appreciate handmade, personalized cakes." 3. Choose a Distinctive Business Name Pick a name that reflects your baking style and appeals to your target audience. Example: "Cakes by Kris: Sweet Creations for Special Occasions." 4. Design a Memorable Logo Create a logo that reflects your baking style and is easy to recognize. Example: "A logo featuring an elegant cake tier with delicate floral accents and 'Cakes by Kris' in a sophisticated script." 5. Select Your Brand Colors Choose colors that match your baking style and resonate with your customers. Example: "Kris’s brand colors are soft pastels like blush pink and mint green, creating a romantic and whimsical vibe." 6. Develop Branding Materials Create business cards, packaging, and labels that showcase your logo and brand colors. Example: "Cakes by Kris’s business cards feature the logo on the front with a tagline 'Celebrating Love, One Slice at a Time' on the back." 7. Establish an Online Presence Set up a website and social media profiles to showcase your creations and connect with customers. Example: "Kris shares stunning photos of her wedding cakes on Instagram and updates her Facebook page with baking tips and client testimonials." 8. Craft Your Unique Selling Proposition (USP) Highlight what sets your baking business apart from others. Example: "Kris’s USP is her commitment to using locally sourced, organic ingredients to create cakes that not only look beautiful but also taste exquisite." 9. Share Your Baking Journey Engage with customers by sharing your passion for baking and the story behind your business. Example: "Kris posts weekly RUclips videos showing behind-the-scenes of cake decorating and interviews with satisfied clients." 10. Deliver Consistent Quality Ensure every product meets your high standards of taste, presentation, and customer satisfaction. Example: "Kris guarantees that each wedding cake leaving her kitchen is a masterpiece, meticulously crafted to exceed her clients' expectations." 11. Engage with Your Customers Interact with customers on social media, respond to comments, and build relationships. Example: "Kris hosts virtual cake tasting sessions via Zoom, allowing couples to sample her flavors and discuss their wedding cake vision." 12. Seek Feedback and Improve Regularly solicit feedback from customers to improve your products and services. Example: "Kris sends follow-up surveys to newlywed couples to gather feedback on their cake experience and suggestions for future improvements." Message from Chef Letty: Dear fellow home bakers, Embarking on the journey of starting your own home baking business is both exciting and rewarding. Remember, your passion for baking is what sets you apart-let it shine through in every cake, cookie, or pastry you create. Don’t hesitate to experiment, learn from each experience, and most importantly, listen to your customers. Their feedback will guide you towards perfection and help you grow your business. Wishing you all the success and joy in your baking adventures! Warm regards, Chef Letty
Thank you I just discovered your channel you have great content I am just getting into the baking business. And I have found my niche we are going to be they all natural no dye bakery. What are some tips you could give for just starting out as a one-man show right now I am doing my first farmers market next month thanks in advance
Send me list! Please 😊
Sweetie, did I send you the list? I'm so sorry, I can't remember if I did or didn't - please let me know - thank you for watching and commenting :)
thanks baby!!
Had to pause to comment. I am Amy and I do make sugar free treats! I got my niche. Marketing myself is hard but I'm getting the hang of it. I finally got the courage to join my local farmers market this year. Great video. I feel like I'm on the right path.
Wow!, thanks Amy for taking the time to add a comment, I wish you much success... Marketing yourself can feel icky & salesy if you look at it from a sales perspective... I want you to flip the switch and start to think of marketing as a way show up to SERVE your people instead of SELL TO THEM. When you flip that switch in your head, showing up will become very easy, because at the end, we all want to help people... If I was you, I'd remember that every time I broadcast who I am and what I sell, I am helping a person who is looking for yummy sugar free treats with a product that is made well and with a lot of love... Don't be afraid to share your WHY reason of why you make sugar free treats.... trust me, when you share your why, people who can relate will want to buy from you instead of someone else.... Good Luck! - Chef Letty
Great tips
Glad you think so!
great advice, thnk you 🙏
Thanks for watching & commenting... I am happy to help...
This was an awesome vid & I'd already been thinking about taking things off my site that I've not sold in year's so I just did it. I definitely have my niche & am known for all my top sellers! 🙏🏾♥️🥳 Thank you!
Amazing! So happy you are fine tuning the business, remember - a business is a living breathing thing, their are ebbs and flows... make it a habit to review your sales numbers monthly so you can adjust according - Thanks for leaving a comment :) - Chef Letty
Send me list please
The list is not available on the Channel Links :) - thanks for watching, have a sweet day!
My biggest concern is the IRS ! I read somewhere that if you’re making less than 20k a year then you don’t need to claim it as income … but can’t find clarification on this
Amount of revenue ceiling cap varies from state to state... try to google search it for your state :) - thanks for the comment, sorry it took me so long to respond. Take care, Chef Letty
Thanks! What if I want to sell chunky, big decadent chocolate chip cookies in various flavors. I’m the only one around who does that, but how do you sell it? 🙄
Thanks for watching & leaving a comment, I truly appreciate it. Ok, as far as your question goes… first thing I would do is create a menu for all of the different cookies I make, second thing I would do is take really good pictures of each cookie flavor, then the last thing I would do to sell is to start posting pics with cute captions on my social media pages, with a clear call to action at the end of caption instructing the person on how they can order them. Example: Meet “Chip” he’s a popular cookie, he’s filled with gooey goodness, you can devour 6 Chips at home for just $xx… (insert one of these ->) dm me, email me call me etc etc to place your order. Good luck! Chef Letty
❤Love it😅 thank you!!🙏🏻
All the talking no demonstration! 😢I don’t get the point of this video!
I’m sorry to hear that you feel that way but I do understand. Because packaging vendors change their product line frequently I thought it would be best to not include the actual packaging in the video to avoid the viewer getting frustrated if packaging was no longer available when they actually watched video. There is a vendor list Offered at the end of the video were you can look up all of the vendors that provide all of the different kinds of packaging. I hope that helps, thanks again for commenting. Hugs Chef Letty
I need this in my life❤
Yes, and let me tell you I’ve been using it for a few months now and it is actually so durable and flexible that it really makes all of the difference when I’m creating content. I highly recommend this product. Thanks for tuning in and providing me with your feedback. I truly appreciate it and wish you much success with your business.
Ok you are helping out so much but most importantly WHERE did you get those glasses I love ❤
Awe! Thank you, I got them on Amazon. I will look up what shop tonight and post the link here tomorrow.
Thank you for sharing your insight on the business
Thank you for your feedback, I truly appreciate it, have you been in business long? If so, what do you sell? Do you specialize in a particular item? I'd love to know. Thanks again.... take care and good luck with your business. Stay sweet! Chef Letty :)
@@TheBakingBusinessInsider I was actually lead by God to become a home baker I never thought I would be doing this I am so grateful..,I been in business almost a year mostly selling to my co-workers at my primary job and their families I do custom orders I started off selling EVERYTHING but I’m mainly booked for cakes, brownies, cupcakes and cobblers 😊
@@WalkingWithChrist8440 Wow, that's really amazing, with God all things are possible. Splitting your time up between a ft job and your side business can take a toll on you. Make sure you are charging enough and are resting up as well. Sometimes home bakers are so eager for the business that they charge too little which then makes it much harder to increase pricing to make more profit and work less hours. Also, buying in bulk and staying very organized are key ingredients to making sure you don't burn out... I wish you much success. Thanks again for your feedback. If you would like personal mentoring to continue to grow your business, I have an entry level group coaching group that will definitely help you grow. @@TheBakingBusinessInsider Thank You so much
Another great video Chef Letty! What is the best way to package a cookie with a chocolate drizzle on top without it smearing? I freeze the cookie to set the chocolate and was wondering if you would have to use the plastic bags as well as individual boxes to keep it fresh? May I please have the vendor list, thank you!
Good question! I would use a clear box or a box with a window so that cookie design is visible and cookie drizzle/topping is protected from smearing 👍🏼
Here’s the link where you can download the vendor list. www.lettyalvarez.com/ask_chef_letty_vendor_list
Thank you!@@TheBakingBusinessInsider
I loved your video and thank you for sharing your knowledge with us! I am known for my cookies especially for one particular kind. Is it best to just only begin selling your specialty cookie when you start off with your bakery business or do you offer 1-3 cookie flavors initially at the beginning stages and then hyper focus your marketing on that one specialty cookie that you are known for? Thanks
Hi Lisa, thanks for your feedback on the video, I appreciate it very much. As far as your question… making “Cookies” your niche sounds great, offering 1-3 flavors of cookies sounds great too and then highlighting the “one” flavor as your most popular seller will work as well. So it’s a combination of all of the things you mentioned. Good luck, and let me know if you would like additional videos on other topics. Thanks again, Chef Letty
You are amazing and very encouraging!
Thank you so much!
Thank you for the great information you are sharing. What is a good company that I can use to create a website?
It really depends on your business goals. If you are testing the water and are in the beginning stages of building your business, I recommend google, it’s great for SEO and it’s free. If you’ve been in business a while, Shopify is great, and so is godaddy.
@@TheBakingBusinessInsider thank you so much Ms.Letty for giving me guidance. It's greatly appreciated
Really awesome advice. ❤
I'm so happy your think so... Thanks for watching the channel and for your feedback. I appreciate it!
@@TheBakingBusinessInsider My daughter wants to become a pastry chef and we have limited means. We decided that between the two of us we'll become home bakers and sell at church, etc to raise the money as no bursaries are given for these courses. I'll help with the baking after work, and then she can decorate during the day. (I don't have her artistic talents). My first instinct was to bake anything and everything that will sell. Thank you for the advice. It makes perfect sense. Bless your little cotton socks. We've taken a look at things that few people specializes in and decided on old school dunking biscuits My gran used to make the most awesome ones. I had my poor mom (now a pensioner) go through the boxes that came out if my gran's house 23 years ago. So it's really old school biscuits and it's a lost art and recipes. I can't recall ever eating anything similar after she passed. This will be our niche. You're awesome.
@@MaxMarais-y9f Hello, thank you for your feedback, it sounds like you are on the right path. If I were you, I would add grandma's name into your company name or item you are selling. Ex: Granny's Biscuit Bakery or Grandma Betty's Biscuits - this will help tell the story of family, traditions and secret recipes. Everyone that LOVES those core values will want to try your biscuits. Weave her legacy, and what makes her biscuits so special into your marketing. Remember the key it to get known for one thing and once your customer is on the hook, then you can upsell them on other items to get them to spend more with you... Good Luck and thank you for your feedback, I wish you and your daughter much luck.
💗💗💗
Thanks for the love 💕
This is so inspirational, thank you! 💗
You're so welcome!
Rum! 🥳
That’s right!
I needed to hear this! I started crying when I heard your voice! I’m so close to start a pie company!
Wiw, thank you for your feedback, I am happy to hear you got the encouragement you needed to push thru. Starting a business Can be a scary thing but on the flip side of that it can also be rewarding and lucrative if you know what you are doing. I wish you much success. If I can do it, anyone can do it… 💪🏼 please let me know if I can be of service, good luck!🍀
PS / Take inspiration from my friend and colleague here in Miami Fireman Derek, he has built a great company and has had much success with his pie company. firemandereks.com/menu/
Hi Letty, I’m so glad the algorithm recommended your channel. Thanks for your straightforward helpful advice x
Thank you for leaving a comment, it really does help the channel so much and it really motivates me to keep creating content. Thanks again for your comment. Hugs, Chef Letty
Thank you for this amazing video, also not being boring, I don't watch many videos all the way from start to finish. lols. I'm watching all your videos.
Thank you for the amazing comment, I nearly fell out of my chair with laughter when I read it. Talking to a camera by yourself in a room can seem very boring. I’m glad my quirky personality kept you entertained. Thanks again, looking forward to serving you more great content real soon. Hugs, Chef Letty
Thank you for this message, i intend starting a baking business soon. My mind was just all over not knowing where to start. Thank you, for opening my eyes, thank you, thank you.
You are very welcome, thank you for watching the video and for giving me your wonderful feedback. I wish you much success in your future business. Thanks again, Chef Letty
Amen
Yes honey, Amen to your Amen! Thanks for your feedback, I greatly appreciate it. Have a wonderful day, Chef Letty
You are a gem!!! Thank you for making this video & for your desire to be of service to people like me. I have been considering revamping my home bakery & want to niche down into healthy baking but wasn't sure. I'm not going to get into the woo-woo of it all but this video showed up right on time for me lol! OAN I love your delivery & energy & the quality of info you provide so I'd say you're on the right track. I'll definitely be supporting your channel .🎉
Thank you for your amazing feedback. Creating content for RUclips is hard and I often isolating. I am so happy that the Contant I make is helping you and others grow and expand your business. I think that niching down to cater to a health conscious market is a great way to stand out, as sweets usually are high in sugar and there are a lot of people who want to eat desserts but desire healthier options. I wish you much success, please let me know how I can be of service. Sending you warm hugs, Chef Letty
Send me the list please! Love all your videos and needed them desperately! I’ve learned so much
Wow! Thank you Kaylin, I truly appreciate your feedback, I have not created new content in a while because I thought it wasn’t really being watched.
