I enjoy the guests with such interesting backgrounds that you invite on this podcast.

I see a contrast between the mountain man wants to build ( the tower) and the mountain the brother of Jared was prepared to climb (the mountain of the Lord) to get answers and to truly be in the presence of the Lord. Not in the worlds way but in Gods way.

My ancestor Edmond Durfee was killed on the Isaac Morley farm. Thank you for this beautiful session.

I always love hearing Gaye's insights in to the Scriptures! I remembering first hearing her years ago, and my ears pricked up to hear a fellow Aussie! An Aussie women, ex-physiotherapist talking on a BYU podcast! Blew my mind!

I'm loving this podcast as a supplement to my weekly Come Follow Me study. Thank you for interesting guests who expand my ideas and understanding of the scriptures. I especially loved her quote by Elder Holland explaining the issue of the brother of Jared not being the first person to see the Savior. It all makes sense now

I’m so grateful we focus of the JOY of repentance and turning to Christ daily. It helps me to focus more on Jesus Christ’s Atonement and the strengthening, comforting, healing, enabling, compensating, purifying, forgiving, and resurrecting powers that can bless our lives daily if I intentionally use them. He paid the price because He wants us to make the blessings a part of our lives to bless us and transform us.

I had a wonderful friend for years that I felt was as perfect a Saint as could be. As she lay on the floor, unable to move or speak from a stroke, she contemplated the Atonement of Jesus Christ. In those lonely hours she discovered the value of what Christ did for her: she had committed no great sin that she needed to repent from, but she needed the Savior to carry her through those long dark hours. Her joy was palpable in her expression of her understanding and His Loving grace.

This was so tender, and hopeful. Thank you!

Thank you for the reminder to have confidence in our covenants, confidence in our Savior, and confidence in God regardless of what is happening in our lives. That as we do so we will see mighty miracles, including overcoming the most difficult of trials in our lives.

I know that my faith in the power of the priesthood is key.

When I was younger, I recognized that a priesthood blessing from my father was powerful. There were several times that he couldn't come home from work to give me a blessing. I had faith that I could access that power for myself. And it worked beautifully then, and over the years, I have remembered that experience and have been able to access those powers to bring blessings into my life many, many times.

Mariama, you have my heart after hearing your story. I am so so sorry for your trauma but grateful for your faith-filled example.

Oh my goodness-I was walking my dog while listening to this just sobbing. What an inspiring and touching story.

You asked about a time we have felt that we as women have accessed priesthood power-when I was a young single mother I had many experiences where I did not have access to a priesthood blessing right when I felt I wanted and needed it. I didn’t grow up with easy access to a priesthood bearer either, so I was used to this. When I was able to receive blessings it was only in times of great need, always by extended family or home teachers and bishops-something scheduled I suppose you could say. But there were times as a child or as a young single mother where I needed and wanted a blessing NOW for me and my daughter. In those moments I would fall to my knees and ask Heavenly Father to give us a blessing. I always felt hands upon my head and as if hands were upon my daughter’s head as I prayed with my whole soul for whatever the blessing was that I desired. One specific time was when I was worried about my baby girl when she was sick and I didn’t know what to do in the middle of the night. Another time was when I was feeling financial worries and the pressures of trying to achieve balance between wearing the hat of provider/presider and mother (with its many hats). I think these experiences were similar to when Joseph told Emma to write out the blessing she desired and he would sign it-he had the authority to bind on earth and in heaven and all she had to do was ask and he could seal the blessing upon her. He didn’t even revise it or tell her she couldn’t have the blessing. I felt like Heavenly Father gave me important blessings from beyond the veil exactly when I asked in certain moments where the desire in my heart was not only desire but desire coupled with the faith to bring forth something that otherwise would not be (I’m channeling my favorite Boyd K. Packer quote here). Anyway, I think we have power to bring forth the help and miracles that we need when we need them even when we are physically alone because we are never truly alone. We have access through the priesthood we hold to help from beyond the veil, and with our faith we can cause things to happen when it’s good and right, and God’s will, and I feel like this for me has included priesthood blessings that I spoke and the Lord sealed upon my head or my daughter’s head.
