use black flame in spectral lance for 1% per seconde of max life on boss, and regen mana when crit . and its good . (spectral lance do not scale with waypon lvl, use clayman spear with spectral lance, is more efficient!)

occult still gives problem with this weapon art, i think scales better off dexterity like all ranged/bullet Aow, just tried a 92 arcane and 45 dexterity build and have better damage on keen

This weapon art feels good to me, as I tried it with a Partisan +25 & a Lance +25 with 60 Strength & 99 Arcane. It works like an absolute charm.

Does this ash have a magic component to it? For example, lifesteal fist its damage actually scales primarily to magic. Despite being an occult AoW. Wonder if maybe something similar here?

So actually that damage bonus isnt random, its a headshot/weakspot multiplier and this is one of the only ash of wars that have it.

Spectral Lance is a perfect attack when fighting an opponent like Godfrey/Hoarah Loux. With the way stance/poise damage works in this game, you have to keep constant aggression in order for you to break it. For bosses that have huge AoE’s that you have to respect, that’s a window of time they can reset their poise to full. Spectral Lance is a way you can maintain pressure while still doing very high poise damage. So even when you have to run away from Godfrey’s strongest AoE, you can still maintain pressure. That’s why I encourage all strength or Dex builds to use Storm Blade, Beast Roar, Ice Spear, etc. These are all ashes of war that can still maintain pressure from afar and make it much easier to stance break.

Got buff recently same goes with poison in general. Have this on the Antspur rapier (keen) and paired with coil shield you can add both poison and scarlet rot. And can do burst damage and repeat it.

Does the extra damage when something is poisoned works with scarlet rot? I'm doing a crystal/ scarlet rot build and I'm trying things. Would it work in a dagger for example?

Build: Class: Samurai Stats: 80 Arc You can kill the entire game well into NG CYCLES WITH this set up because everything is percentage based damage

So I've seen people claim that longer weapons increase the range of this ash, and that the range is noticeably longer when put on something like the Pike. No idea if this is true or not.

Does arcane level increase the poise damage?

It adds the bleed proc to the weapon art, so the added dmg was the bleed

Some great detective work my dude. A pair of great options to get some use out of this is using dual wield Katana or Curved Swords. Using the main weapon with this ash of war and the blood affinity you can use either the Uchigatana or the Scavenger's Curved Sword for good blood loss buildup. Having a secondary weapon with the poison affinity, like the Serpentbone Blade or a Bandit's Curved Sword set to poison for easy poison buildup. This would allow you to swiftly activate both the Lord of Bloods Exaltation and the Kindred of Rot talismans for a combined ~40% damage boost to your attacks. The best part is having this ash of war lets you consume the poison and reapply it much faster than normal, allowing you to maintain the damage boost for quite a while. Katana are a bit better in regards to damage, Curved Swords are a bit better in applying status buildups. Build does suffer a bit against targets immune to poison and bleed BUT. The stat requirements on these weapons are not insane. With proper affinity and build you could have these working efficiently with 20 Str and 30 Dex maximum. Allowing you to build up possibly Intelligence for spells, Faith for incantations or Arcane for more status buildup and some other magic abilities. As well as affording you options to build up higher HP, FM and Stamina.
