Hey... It's 2022, how have y'all been?
Hey everyone! Happy 2022!! It's been awhile since I've posted on this channel. I've made plenty of excuses, but I think I'm ready to be more on top of my game. I talk a little about my plans for 2022 and my victories in 2021 and a little bit about my mental health. I put in a trigger warning where I go a little into my diagnosis and my treatment, so if that sort of thing bothers you, you can skip this video.
I have so much planned for 2022 and I'm hoping to bring y'all along on the journey. I wanted to hold myself accountable this year for at least starting and trying. I hope y'all enjoy what this year has to bring and you celebrate your victories!!
Much love, ICK

Affordable Gouache: HIMI Jelly Gouache Vs. Master’s Touch Gouache First Impressions/ Box Opening
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.4 года назад
I’ve seen a lot of videos on this viral HIMI gouache set. I’ve only ever used Windsor Newton gouache and the experience wasn’t anything for the books. I wanted to give this set a try for over a year now, during the wait I also found some Gouache at Hobby Lobby for half the price. I wanted to give both sets a try and give y’all my thoughts. I don’t have a lot of experience with gouache, but from...

Drawing Ocean Critters

I've been spending way too much time catching fish in Animal Crossing New Horizon. I decided to dedicate a little drawing to some of my favorite ocean creatures such as the manta ray, whale shark, octopus, sea horse and of course pufferfish! I'm using my Keeblor art alcohol markers from my previous video and working on a fairly large piece of Canson Mixed Media paper. I'm still learning how to ...
Trying Out Keeblor Art Advanced Dual Tip Alcohol Markers!
Просмотров 1,6 тыс.4 года назад
I have never used alcohol markers before as they've always been out of my price range. Especially for something I just wanted to "try out". I finally caved after watching someone compare a brand similar to these markers to the infamous Ohuhu Alcohol markers. I have to say it was a fun experience. I typically paint with acrylic and water colors this was a fun change of pace. These markers are ca...

Pokemon Day Painting: Classic Flying Pikachu

Today is national Pokémon day!! In honor of the day I decided to paint a painting I’ve been putting off for a couple of months! It’s the flying pika he from Pokémon yellow!! How To Paint an Easy Self Portrait Using An iPad
Просмотров 696 лет назад
So when I was in high school one of my first digital illustrations was a Self Portrait Using the contours of an under photograph. These digital illustrations were fairly popular in the later 2000’s and there’s probably even apps that will do this automatically, but the fun of having your own line work is still pretty rad. This project was done using an iPad Pro and an Apple Pencil, but this can...
Painting an Alien Cat

So I’ve been obsessing over this Space Cat that I doodled on my notes about 4 years ago lately. I wanted to revive him and make him cool again (he actually wasn’t ever cool just really sticking cute) I wanted to revision this silly doodle into an actual Alien looking thing. I think the turn out was pretty great! I love using pearlizing mediums in my paintings because of the shiny affect. I thin...

Clever ,thank you.😊
Young man, if you can come before the world and announce that you are mentally disturbed you can most certainly post your work. Be proud of what you've done. Besides, if you post your work you can look back in 20 years and see how much your skills have grown.
I appreciate the input. My art in college was always about mental health awareness and I’m not ashamed to talk about it. I think it’s important for people to label it and get the help they need. I’ve become so much more productive and I’ve noticed a huge improvement on my attitude towards life. I’m still growing as a person and by no means am I not proud of my accomplishments.
Oh and don't listen to the people telling you to raise your prices. Artists are a dime a dozen now. You can either sell your work or you can pretend you are worth more than you are like they do and remain unsold.
Good for you. You're lucky to live when we do. Before 1970 it was law in America to put people with mental health diagnosis in asylums & sterilize them. As you can imagine far less people were diagnosed with mental issues. Good for you to take control of yourself and take responsibility for yourself.
You used a nib on wood.. holy Christ. Well I give you props for trying even though it was destined to fail. Poor thing, I feel like you didn't have a dad to teach you things.
That "gross" oil is called binder and without it you just have chalk.
And you are an art teacher. What's the world coming to. I can't help but think you must be based in California. Where else would adults be afraid of words.
Hey Phillip I’m actually from Texas, I kinda knew it was binder but I couldn’t think of the word. 🙃 I teach elementary and I mostly taught them art they can do at home because of the pandemic. Binder isn’t something elementary kids need to worry about. Thank you for checking out my video! I’m by no means a professional I enjoy learning how to use new mediums and finding inexpensive materials that are easily accessible. Coming from a low income family I had to be very resourceful growing up, and I never knew how inexpensive some supplies could be. The goal of my channel was to help people who dabble with art find and learn to use inexpensive art products.
I use all masters touch, the clear stuff is the binder they use
Oooh I forgot what it was called! I really enjoy using masters touch, I wanna try some Golden flat and see if it’s worth the hype! Been sitting on some video ideas 💡 thanks for watching my review 😄
@@ohheyitsjustnick you are very welcome! I can’t wait for more
From the swatches I like the himi. Just because the colors look for vibrant. I want to use gouache but I do not know if I want to get the masters touch or the himi. For ease of things, I would personally get the himi.
I’ve come back to my himi paints and I was a fan of using them. I haven’t touched my master touch paints, mostly because I never wanna grab a clean pallet.
I wouldn't recommend the himi because once they dry; although they can be re-wet, they become transparent. Which is fine if that's what you are looking for, but if that is what you are looking for that's what watercolor is for.
Came for the content, stayed for the commentary. 👏🏻👏🏻 love your vibe
Thank you so much! I’m currently a virtual teacher so I haven’t put too much time into my channel. I’m hoping to bring in some new content soon!
I know this is a year old, but the reason the paints are dull is that the paints are labeled "matte," to be used (I suspect) like acrylic gouache or at least I think that was Arteza's goal. That's why I am looking at videos to see what it looks like before purchasing since I happen to love regular gouache and watercolors.
I don’t think they’ve gotten dull in the year that they’ve been on the wood, if you would like to see an updated picture DM me on Instagram ick.stuff I have a couple of paintings I did that are roughly a year old, one on paper, one on canvas and the one I did on wood. They’re still pretty vibrant!
Is it wrong to think of gouache simply as watercolor that you can get opaque? Or are there any other significant differences?
Honestly they are made of the similar materials and they can be used together. Gouache is meant to be opaque and can get transparent, if you did the same with watercolor it would be very chalky. I think just the way they behave on the paper are really the only differences. I might be wrong in stating this, but they are very similar to each other.
Are they glittery? or is that just the shimmer of wet paint?
They are not glittery, I use pearlescent medium a lot, and I think it was just in my palette. There is a silver and gold that do give off the shimmer.
heck yes. i am addicted to alcohol based markers and i have this set. the colors are so boss and the value is fantastic.
Hey I am a new subscriber and I like your work. I love these paints and thank you for taking the time to show them and how they work. I also cringe when I see some artist do something wrong, but I am not no where close to a professional. lol But now-a-days I feel like there is no rules on how people art. Everyone has their own style and technique so it is a little battle for me at times lol. But awesome work. Keep it up
Let's Art Today! Thank you for subscribing!! Yeah I always am like “ok, it’s no big deal... they’ll get it!” I appreciate you checking out my channel. I’m slowly posting when I can. I mostly post for family and friends that are interested in my workflow and I think having a small audience encourages me to create more. I’m hoping to post a video of me actually using these paints soon! I created a coloring page and everything. I had a mishap with my paper choice so I have to reshoot over the weekend.
@@ohheyitsjustnick lol. Well I think you are doing well, and I am interested to see what you come up with. Keep creating and the people will see

Nice doodle 👍
Thank you! Hoping to create some more sick doodles in the future!
Kool man! I also make wood art but mostly mess with tik tok not youtube
Michael Struss thanks for checking out my video! I’ve downloaded TikTok but I haven’t really posted anything. I’ll definitely have to give it a whirl. Also your wood art looks super cool! When I was younger I had a neighbor who always had new lawn art every holiday season, it was pretty inspirational and fun to admire.
ohitsjustnickTV very kool man!! Keep up the work
I just wanted to say thanks for putting out this video! the 20 set of arteza craft paints is the first paint ive ever bought and you're the first person I could find on youtube that reviewed the product I feel a lot better about my choice now 💗
I'm super excited! I hope you enjoy it, I've created three paintings now using it and it has quickly become my favorite brand of paint! Just a word of caution be careful on what surface you use your paint on. I'm crafting up a new video talking about different surfaces, just because I came across an issue trying to paint on some poster board. I've been trying to figure out best options for budget artists and students. Please let me know what you think of the craft paints after you try them out :)
@@ohheyitsjustnick thanks for the advice and when I get them in I'll let you know!👍
@@ohheyitsjustnick I tried them out for a while and I love them! I think because I'm so used the alcohol based markers I havent got the blending with paint down just yet but over all really love them. Thanks again for putting out this video!
