    You do not have to remove the battery tray. You can simply grind down the area of the tray as needed to reach the bolt.

      Reverse in these transmissions has straight cut gears so they will wine only only in reverse. Just bought a 2014 charger with the 8 speed and it wines in reverse too

    I know this is an older video, but replying for anyone who might be watching, trying to adjust their idle. This is the air/fuel ratio screw, not the idler screw. Adjusting this will make your motor run lean, or rich. The idle screw is the easy one to access with the spring on it.

    Hi. I have 2006 9.9 mercury 4 stroke. Is there any manufacturer advise to adjust the two screws so the engine runs smoothly or just have to play with it until I get it? Any step by step advise? Thank you

    Is this noise normal, or does this indicate there is a problem? I have a 2013 Ram 1500 that has the ZF 8 speed transmission (845RE in Chrysler's nomenclature) and it makes this noise in reverse but otherwise drives fine. Not clear if this is just a quirk of the transmission or it means there is a problem.

      @ShowMeWhatINeedToKnow I had it rebuilt but that was unrelated to the high pitched whirring noise in reverse. Even after the rebuild it still sounds like that. At about 100k miles the transmission ran somewhat hot once it got up to temp, and once it was hot, when trying to downshift at highway speeds on an incline (say you're going 65mph up a slight hill and you try to accelerate to pass someone) it would clunk violently sometimes and fail to shift, sometimes triggering a check engine light code. Happened a few times on long trips through hilly areas. That was why I got it rebuilt. It ran fine otherwise so I could have put it off and just been careful around hills but I figured I was going to have to rebuild it eventually anyways, may as well get it over with instead of continuing to worry about it and waiting for it to get worse. Runs at normal temp now and shifts smoothly in all conditions. Still makes the spooky ghost noise when backing up.

      @ShowMeWhatINeedToKnow I bought the truck used at 90k for reference. Rebuilt the tranmission at 100k. Currently at 110k. I assume it has made the ghost noise since it was brand new, not positive though.

      @@dohczeppelin37 - Very interesting -- thanks for the reply. I can find a lot of people complaining about this online that got theirs replaced under warranty (before any failure) but can't find any one that said their trans failed because of this issue.

    my problem is also fast idle for choke. not fast enough, & if you push the choke in a little you loose fast idle all together.anyone found a cure for this ?

  • @happybudfarms
    @happybudfarms 9 лет назад

    Anyone having ANY problems with the idle on any of the MANY versions of this motor that have that new little PRIMER PUMP, should HIGHLY consider replacing it first and then make "DAM SURE" THAT THERE IS NO AIR LEAKING ANYWHERE on the line into the carb. IF THAT DOESN'T FIX THE PROBLEM I will replace everything that it connects too including the little plunger and diaphragm inside the carb. That little PRIMER PUMP BALL assembly is usually the main cause to almost ANY problems on ANY NEWER MOTORS that have them. ONE LITTLE TINY PIN HOLE AIR LEAK "ANYWHERE" ON THE PRIMER ASSEMBLY "WILL" CAUSE ALL KINDS OF PROBLEMS!!!
