Yup very familiar with that area, there is a trestle up I think half a mile or two up from the direction that train was coming from that goes over the great pee dee river, I remember a few years ago me and my step-dad headed down the tracks at about 12:00 in the morning to go fishing for catfish at and had to walk a bit of a long way up the tracks to get there and didn't get back until 5:00 or 6:00, good fishing area.

nice video from what i'm seeing it seems csx no longer uses that line to head chemours/dupont nowadays, the tracks are starting to see overgrowth and a security gate has been installed just past the hwy 87 crossing before the plant

Here in Latin bury we stoped getting many trafic on the rails Here in laurinburg I saw csx 8888 when I was 3 in 2014 I'm just happy though its a small historic town

I believe this stretch was double tracked in WWII , and there was a bad derailment involving a troop train - with many fatalities ( the Tamiami Champion), December of 1943.

Longest straight stretch in the eastern US - 79 miles, East Arcadia to Laurinburg !! And I've never understood why they had to uproot Hamlet Station, and disassociate it from the north/south S line track......😢

Stopped there many nights, before the station was moved- to wait for 91/92(southbound) and talk with the station agent - when the train left, he usually had the lights out,waiting room locked up and was gone by the time they blew for the grade crossings a mile distant.
