Decided to take my miata out on a track day for the first time. Will be doing it some more. I'm pretty new to driving and cars alone so excuse my noobish driving lol. Im a bridge carpenter and like the stiletto. Some pros and cons. Pros: side nail puller works great for taking out duplexes bulldogged in concrete or when youre hanging off formwork and dont want to carry a pry bar. Balanced swing helps if you got tennis elbow. The hole in the handle fits a 7/8 nut if you're in a pinch and forgot your speed ratchet. Cons: claw wears out as mentioned in video and handle falls apart. I recommend taping it with hockey tape when it's still new to prevent this from happening. Not enough weight in the head when you need to smack something to move it.
@MichaelMa84 yup I agree! The main downside is the claw wearing down overtime. The new stilletto they came out with has a removable grip! So arleast they fixed that issue.
after reading some of the comments, I see most are form setters. In which the Stiletto TB3 is a Carpenter's tool. Balanced for less fatigue and a claw that will sink into a beam when you need

Yeah the TB3 he’s got in the video is in fact replaceable he must just not know it.
Martinez m1 grip sucks always loose but for the rest it's great use to have one just got stolen I looking replace it
I have both I don’t like nail puller on side of Martinez. I also like that the handle is replaceable on Martinez but it sounds hollow if you tap handle on anything. I’ve had to replace it twice going on 3rd time now. As for stiletto if you break a claw it’s junk. Doing concrete that’s a real possibility. I honestly never really had any complaints on the stiletto hammer just bought Martinez because I had a few beers and ordered it lol. It’s a nice hammer but for $400 it should be much nicer! I use Martinez daily so I must not dislike it that much!
@jeffbonner9313 the nail puller on the stilletto is much better! The main reason that the martinez is better is because you can replace the parts. But it does suck having to replace the grip constantly. I wonder if they'll have a solution for that anytime soon. Seems like a common issue

Im surely in a mood because the length difference is 5cm. I’ve now a black estwing is like 34,5 cm and the m4 is like 36,5 cm, the m1 is 41,5. So the m4 is nearby the estwing just a bit longer
Its a pricey thing.. and hope to buy it once in a lifetime.. so need a good choice from the Netherlands

You broke? I used to spend more than $300 at the bar on the weekend. 3 or 4 bills isn’t expensive for a tool that you use everyday that helps you and keeps you from beating up your hand, arm and wrist.
@@shawnglass108I know! These guys spend thousands of dollars on truck parts,rims, hunting gear or whatever but cry about a one time investment of a quality hammer. Or the buy scratch offs.
I feel the same way about the side pull. If Martinez fixed that I’d buy one
I think the issue is the martinez is 2 piece vs. the stiletto being 1 piece all the way through the head. I don't see how they'd be able to change that honestly.
Considering that Mark Martinez invented the Stiletto hammer, this vid isn't that surprising. But my Stiletto is still doing fine (I don't do much framing; it just sees intermittent use) and I prolly won't be retiring it any time soon.
I know a lot of folks who still prefer the stilletto due to how it swings. If you're used to it, it's hard to make the change. I've gotten used to it by now but it did feel awkward at first.

@@shawnglass108patents are only for so long , and I believe you can just improve something or change minor/major things on a patent but pretty much steal the idea
I have a martinez m1, I do concrete and that hammer has been holding up, I haven't changed my head yet either, I have had the martinez for 2 years

Are they worth it?
Yeah man I think so. I would swap out the nail pouch for the ox pouch that comes on the grande set up. The pockets on the nail pouch are small and sometimes annoying to get your nails out. Otherwise I'm pretty happy with them.
@@titocuevasseattlethe grrande setup is one of the best I bought. Ox with Elias is a good custom you could make, big pockets on the left for nails and screws and good organization on the right with Elias
