I knew it! Since the 2002 DVDs came out, this line has stuck out as having a completely different delivery than what I remembered from the VHS. That original line was clipping pretty badly so I'm guessing that's why it was replaced.

Some of my earliest memories were watching this film recorded from television on VHS with the loud version of the line. We got the DVD set when I was about 10 and throughout my adolescence and adult life I always had this weird feeling in the back of my head that there was something different about a few of the lines and this finally gives me the confirmation!

I knew I wasn't crazy! All those years growing up with the VHS trilogy, then the DVD trilogy, and now the confirmation! Why the change? Doc's enthusiasm in Version 1 is the best.

0:33 Tell me, was this original you made it line in the 2002 VHS too? Because I ordered a copy on Ebay and would like to find out if the 2002 VHS of the first film is similar to the other previous VHS prints of the first movie.

As much as I like the original play, that line in the VHS release (probably in the theatrical release as well) was clearly blown out, bad quality capture. They probably decided to re-record it with the original actor's voice, with much better quality. Who decided to make it softer I don't know, but it was probably directed - and approved by Christopher Lloyd, of course.

This is a west end musical getting a broadway transfer, and is going to have Roger Bart, the same guy who played Doc Brown in the West End production.

I was watching a BTTF reaction video this morning and though, hang on, I KNOW he said this much more excitedly on our VHS copy I saw a hundred times. Just now I clicked on a Siskel and Ebert review of BTTF, and had it confirmed. Not that I needed it to be. We all remember the line reads from this movie so well :)

I love both versions. The first has his crazed scientist sounding schtick in the upbeat shout. The second has a more friendly relieved-you-made-it-and-still-care tone. Both are friendly and excited, but the second has a more realistic somber serious feel.

The great John Leader delivers such greatness on MCA UNIVERSAL movies in da 80 's & 90's.

This is heavy for BTTF 2 on vhs before MCA UNIVERSAL Home Video debut in the late 80's.

This version just threw me off 100%.. WHY this was change I have NO idea... The first version was prefect, this is off putting.

That's brought back a lot of great memories from my childhood. I was gutted when the ride closed. I even managed to get mum and dad on the ride

I remember when I was younger the VHS version scream was more excited and outgoing. Then I watched the DVD version and blu ray and I thought, well that sounds different. Glad I'm not crazy but I definitely prefer the orginal.
