      Yes, if performed correctly. A known problem with the older technology is ghosting / hypopigmentation. This is mostly avoided with our PicoSure laser protocols. We would rather under treat you on treatment and take a little longer vs. rushing treatment and risking damage.

      You asked questions 2 years ago: Siana Karaatanasova 2 years ago (edited) I have a question. Does laser tattoo removal leads to skin cancer? I have Picosure in mind. Is this laser safe? Richard Riehm 2 years ago Thank you for your question. The FDA has cleared the PicoSure laser to be both safe and effective for laser tattoo removal. The FDA would not approve a device that could cause cancer. Yes, PicoSure is safe for someone with Hashimoto disease.

    I'm going to a place now that uses the Pico system. After one session my eyebrow tattoo seem to be gone. My other big portrait tattoo after one session doesn't really look much different. Even with numbing cream is still hurts bad to get done. He told me I can go every 3 months because the ink has to absorb through your body. Buy right on the Internet it's one and a half months to 2 months and you should be good to go again. Just wondering how long do I have to wait before I can go again. I'm pretty healthy I don't smoke or drink or do drugs. Would that help

    • @richardriehm3159
      @richardriehm3159 2 года назад

      Thanks for your question. I have a couple different thoughts. First the ink used for eye brows is much different than tattoo ink. With our PicoSure laser, we usually get rid of eye brow tattoos with 1-2 treatments. For actual tattoo ink, it takes a long time to remove them. PicoSecond lasers will be more comfortable than the older nanosecond / q-switch lasers, but it still hurts. There is a much higher occurrence of complications with the older technology too. As for how often can you get treated? You can safely do it usually every six weeks, but that is not what we recommend. All tattoo removal lasers are breaking the ink into smaller pieces so that your body can digest / eliminate it. The more often you get treated, the more opportunity you have for a complication. Tattoo removal really can't be rushed. I tell everyone to expect at least a year and probably longer. Your tattoo will fade for at least 6 months after a PicoSure treatment. Our advice is to have a couple treatments 6-8 weeks apart and then start waiting 3, 4, 6 months between treatments. Take a picture once a month and you will watch it fade... Not all "pico" lasers are the same and not everyone knows how to use them. We really love our PicoSure laser. We have had it over 7 years and keep upgrading it. When you buy a new laser, they can only train you to the settings used during the FDA trials. It is usually from a very small sample of patients. After 7 years, our protocols are completely different from how we were trained. Look for a doctor's office that has had their pico laser for a long time and they have been using it to remove tattoos. Make sure they have excellent reviews. Don't be sucked into buying multiple treatments for one price. There is a national chain that only sells packages, goes bankrupt, reopens under a different name and strands their old patients. Best of luck!

    can the shattered ink reform if you stop after a few sessions?

    • @richardriehm3159
      @richardriehm3159 2 года назад

      No, once you smash a vase into tiny pieces, you can't glue it back together. It's the same thing with tattoo ink. Once pulverized into tiny particles, it can't clump back together.

    • @ricbaebae07
      @ricbaebae07 2 года назад

      @@richardriehm3159 so lets say i've had 3 sessions so far (laser tat on my chest), and im planning to get tattoos a full sleeve tat & full back tat, then will do another laser tat removal 6 months later, will that affect anything? like i need more sessions cause the interval between my 3rd & 4th session r way too far?

    • @richardriehm3159
      @richardriehm3159 2 года назад

      @@ricbaebae07 It does not matter how long you wait between treatments. Your tattoo will fade for 6 to 12 months between treatments. The longer you wait between treatments, the more money you will save and have list risk to the underlying skin of burn injury. We have people sometimes skip treatment for a couple of year and their tattoo fades a lot while they take a break. Time is the most important element with tattoo removal. Best of luck.

    Hi Dr. Riehm, I had picosure done on my back for acne scarring, and the doctor did some more aggressive treatments on the top of my back and shoulders..where he said it would scab. The results were great for the my back, BUT the areas in which he did the more aggressive treatment scabbed and left some dark pigments where the scabs were. I went in for another treatment and which was fine no scabbing but the pigment is still there. He said it was normal, but for me...it's very noticeable and it has barely faded. Is this normal in your experience, and anything i can do to lighten the scarring?
