Rocket Fest 2014

Three rocket launches. The last recovery was thanks to Khan. It's worth watching to the end. I used an #808 keychain camera, attached in various ad-hoc ways to homemade rockets.
Sunday afternoon.

11 millimeter static line anchored between two trees. We have some pretty good ideas for the next version ...
How does the TB6612 board work? I wanna control 2 motors with two switches for forwards and backwards. Is there anything software wise needed or just circuitry with flipping the current direction?
Endothermic Madness It works pretty well. The motors that I am using draw current up to the limit of the chip, and this board doesn't do as good a job of supporting that as the Pololu Qik that I also tried. The Adafruit board is just a direct breakout of the chip's pins. Each motor takes two control inputs and a PWM speed input.
Nick G, can you recommend me a wiring set-up for having both motors being controlled by two buttons? Not sure how to use the input and output connections for my purpose.
Endothermic Madness I dunno how you have only two buttons controlling two motors. Maybe you only control the motors in one direction? However you decide to make it work in software, the hardware wiring would be the same: the motor-controller connected as I described above and each button connected to an input pin on the microcontroller.
Nick G, ah, okay. So I’ll have to program it. By the way, with two buttons, I mean by one button makes both motors turn clockwise and one button makes both motors turn counter-clockwise.
Endothermic Madness Ok, yeah, that would work. So you have two different problems to solve: how to get button input and how to drive a motor-controller. There are plenty of tutorials on each. If you're using an Arduino, check out the Button library for software button-debouncing.
