    Did any commenter below note the dramatic difference in career trajectory ....well maybe the transition from single corporate job to an eclectic collection of jobs / hustles. Wow,... are doing ok now. Maybe you are an entrepreneur type? Wow...your life is both encouraging and a bit scarry. I mean this in a good way, cuz so many out here are scared to leave a well paying full time gig. Wow. You are brave.

    The only thing that I like about my job is that people leave me alone when they know I have to move the plan. Literally that's all I have to say, I'm making changes to the plan, and they leave me alone for the rest of the next three days. And that's my favorite

    I finished my final exams at the end of June 2014, before I turned 21. And I managed to find a full time professional job and started immediately on July 1st, 2014. Then I found out my partner in my first relationship was cheating on me when I was having my final exams, that was my 21st birthday “gift”. Fast forward to almost 10 years later, I’ve been with my 3rd company now in a different country and I never ever get to take any breaks between jobs or even moving from Southeast Asia to the US. I’ve been thinking a lot lately and I think I might take a career break soon before I get back to the workforce. I feel like maybe it’s time I finally give myself a break to breathe cause I’ve always been prioritizing people that matter to me for a really long time.

    It sounds like you hustle a lot and get into the grind of things. I am similar; however, I do think I would like more time enjoying things that don't offer financial rewards, but money is a concern of mine. You mentioned money as a concern of yours. Do you think you get a good amount of downtime? I get that you get boosts from the work you do such as with geriatrics, but are you satisfied with the selfish time, for a lack of a better term, that you get?

    • @thinhtawnle
      @thinhtawnle 8 месяцев назад

      Hey there - GREAT question. I actually find that I have lot of good downtime. Because of how I structure my work, I am now able to see my family and friends a LOT more than when I had a 9-5 job. Funny enough, my Mom now thinks it's normal to see me 2 weeks at a time 3-4 times out of the year instead of seeing me one week for an entire year... This is also the reason why I chose this - it's because I can drop and go whenever I need to.

    • @WhatsOnMyShelf
      @WhatsOnMyShelf 8 месяцев назад

      @@thinhtawnle I guess it depends on the jobs you take. Like I said, I had a similar situation, where now I feel more independent; however, I earn less. It makes me worried about my future, so I work a lot.

    • @thinhtawnle
      @thinhtawnle 8 месяцев назад

      Great question! At this point no, however, I've thought about worse case scenarios, and if circumstances change and a 9-5 is the best option, then I would. But I think it will eventually lead me back to this position where I'd love to work for myself, or at least still have something of mine.

    Thanks for sharing with us; good for you! I work as a manager, responsible for leading a team of 16 people and there are days when I feel like the very life is being drained from my body. The stress is extremely high and is certainly taking a toll on my health. I am 51 years old and have been working non-stop for over 30 years. I've been really tempted to do exactly what you've done, but I make a lot of money and am aggressively saving every dollar I can towards my retirement. I'm worried that if I take the time off, I'll lose the momentum I have in my savings plan and I'm just about 8-10 years from being able to leave the corporate grind for good. Hope I can make it, best of luck on your journey.

    Sorry to say you are fortunate, I’m glad you can do this, the middle class families with kids and most bread winners of the household will never have the chance to do what you doing. Ultimately the goal is to find a career (not job) that you are passionate about. I always say money will come when you love what you are doing in most cases. At the EOD no matter how difficult I need to put a roof and food on the table for the family.

    • @jnnnsr1890
      @jnnnsr1890 5 месяцев назад

      If she's fortunate, she can do this because she doesn't have kids, Would you then be unfortunate because you have them ? is it not common knowledge that parenthood comes with the obligation to provide for your children even if you would rather be doing smth else ? I mean, this is why many people don't have kids because they know that if they do, they'd lose the freedom to make huge life changing decisions like career breaks . This woman is not fortunate or anything. She just made the decision not to have children and is enjoying the benefits of her decisions. Also , not everything in life is accessible to everybody in general.
