I was having a particularly anxious and emotionally vulnerable night, and an hour of Omaru Polka ASMR and making collages of Captain Beefheart paintings only did so much to help. When I saw this on my home page I knew it was finally the right time, and I wasn't prepared for what a deeply cathartic, moving, inspiring experience this would be for me. That opening to No Other One, the fucking entirety of Across the Sea being like a subconscious imaginative image I'd had in my head in my countless listens of the song that you splayed out in ways more creative than I ever could've imagined, the chorus shots of Good Life communicating such deep liveliness and lust for life, the ingenious tapestry you weave with the different girls throughout El Scorcho, that BEAUTIFUL transition from Pink Triangle to Falling for You and the subsequent invigorating mileage you get out of such sensitively curated Armitage III footage, and ending on one of the greatest miracles of AMVs I've ever seen with that Butterfly segment. Butterfly is a song that means so so much to me, and I wasn't sure if you'd stick the landing. But holy holy holy shit, where'd you find that anime. It's a fucking miracle. It's a masterclass of curation. You made that happen. Watching this reminded me of what compels me to continue pouring ridiculous hours into making and watching and engaging with the whole silly world that is AMVs. It reminded me Why Bother, because these are the beautiful intangible emotional connections that are possible. You're an incredible editor, a truly sensitive artist. Thank you, thank you, thank you for this.
