I will not imply that there isn't dangers in a developing nation like India, but if you take your national gov website's recommendations, stay with a partner, in daytime, etc, then you should be fine. Most people from india also don't think of china as a travel destination. When i first heard that my friend is going to china to travel i was thinking , "why would anyone want to go there?" People here would rather go to japan due to anime or korea due to k dramas or Thailand, but i started seeing more chinese bl and anime and started liking chinese food and would like to go there some day though its not top of my list.

People like to make fun of Chinese and look up to Japanese/Korean just because they lack soft power and their government. If you would find out more about China and it's culture you will change your mind. China has pandas and beautiful mountains same as Japan.
