Hey mama! We have certainly all been there with our mental health. This world ain’t set up for us. So you keep doing what’s working, self care isn’t selfish, we must heal to be our best for others. I got interlocked a month ago, and keeping my curly ends (you inspired that!) and I have to wash my scalp once a week, though my scalp is getting healthier by the week! So combing out ends all at once just changes the game!!! My question is, should I be losing hair? I’m a few months post partum so that could be it…. But did you lose hair while your hair was locking?

I agree that trying this on starter locs would be frustrating! I grew out my locs and then went back and freed the ends after the loc was fully formed (2 - 3 yrs), probably much easier!

I’m the only one in my friend group that doesn’thave locs. I’m kinda afraid to get locs because I LOVE my curls. That’s my dilemma. Looks like you have the best of both worlds to me. 😊

I'm glad I'm 3 years in. I tried combing out my locs just now and used gel and finger coil and it was cute. Gonna do 1-2 inches on all the ends

Hear me out: Black women can run the spectrum with their hairstyles. At 30, I've been relaxed, tried to transition, ended up bald for the first time in 2011. In 2022, my hair was thinning because I had been wearing box braids for 2 years. I was TIRED of wash days and the LOC method. Wash n go's never worked for me. Then, I tried to loc the damaged hair, lasted only 5 months before I shaved my head again. I have been bald/faded for the last year. My goal is to have hair that is more manageable than loose, relaxed or natural hair. I have learned about my hair at every stage and I feel no obligation to keep any particular style. Right now my mood is: Is it quick and easy? Do I enjoy this? Because honestly, quality of life is more important than anything. My hair is for me. It's not for everyone, so the most important thing is for me to enjoy where I am with my hair. I felt like locs would prevent me from having a wash day, spending so much time manipulating 4c hair that was NEVER going to conform. Honestly, it's painful to comb out. Unfortunately, I didn't like my parts with my locs, so I buzzed it off. I plan to start another loc journey, but being bald gives me the same end goal: no need to comb 4c hair. And everytime I get to the 3 month mark, my twa looks a mess and I get the urge to shave it down again. 😂

i was told by my swami (hindu teacher) that its important to go outside your comfort zone... to lean into the discomfort, don't try to force it. this is how you grow...

I am guilty of disassociation & you were real about the damage it does. I have growth humps where I recluse and go back to my dick attitude. I Pray because I’m a worry wart! I don’t grasp it good or bad, I distract myself with self-care. Things gon play out regardless

I have indian hair locs 6years now and my hair loced naturally with straight ends and some also stubs on its own but i love the straight/curly ends i just love the boho/ gyspy dreads look so yea thats my locs.

It looks simple but I’m gonna be practicing for a while to get it right I guess. I look silly and you look so put together. Just breath taking.
