The Red Shoes - "Why do you want to dance?" scene where Lermentov first meets Vicki
Weed was always a little discussed under the radar fave of many many players; now things are more civilized, it’s out there more though it can’t quite be overt until there is a federal legalization and the NFL catches up with reality.
So I wonder is that brown stain on the team blanket supposed to be a shit stain. Every detail means something.
Never played in the NFL, but I did have a few Saturday mornings after the Friday night lights that mirrored some of this without all the beer and pill bottles laying around of course. I did that crab walk to the breakfast table one morning and my Mom took one look at me and casually asked if I needed to go to the emergency room. Poor Mom had to take me there more than once.
What movie is this
It's from Bye, Bye, Birdie. A great musical from the sixties.
I love his sheepish smile after realizing he insulted her. Anton Walbrook in one of his finest performances. I only wish I had been around to have seen him in a live production back in the day.
Nick Nolte had the coolest hair style to ever wake up to in movie history.
Good Stuff. Thanks for posting! 50 years ago today! Seems like yesterday.
a boring movie
His most painful moment at 3:29.
Hello do you happen to have the June 12, 1976 performance of Dramatic Interlude by Clifton Williams, also by the New Rochelle High School Wind Ensemble? I’m doing research on Clifton Williams and I would love to hear this piece! Thanks!!
No, sorry, I do not.
I am 76 years old and I would swear that I was looking at me as watch him struggle in the early morning
Best sports movie EVER !!!!
The best opening to a movie ever!!
Aka "Waking up after too many years in the Army"
Excellent Film
Excellent opening scene, every body part that hurts they show the hits in those areas.
68 degrees expected to increase to 75, according to the man on the radio yet JoBob is wearing a giant coat 🧥
This is me the day after playing two casual rounds of disc golf.
This is almost always my response whenever someone asks me why I love motorsports so much.
Brian Easdale, what a genius!!!
The whole movie is so accurate in how it was and the wild parties where the crazy in people comes out but this soundtrack has you feeling his pain and his moments of glory
I dare anyone to say how overpaid NFL players are after watching this scene. These guys are getting ailments in their 30s that you typically don't get until you're well advanced in years. They've earned every penny!
You are damn right!!!! And they should get paid even more!!!!!
They are effectively shortening their life span. It's a proven fact.
How many people start their day that way and aren't professional football players?
Martin Scorceses talked about this, I think he said that that's the thing about being an artist, wanting has nothing to do with it.
NO matter what level you played the game at..especially those of us that did back in the 60-80's and there were no real "limits"...now those of us still alive in our 60's and 50's the idea of just getting out of bed without some "help" is EXCURCIATING It's just sad there is a system now in place that WANTS TO TAKE THE "HELP" AWAY.....
RIP Ron Chapman
I've read the comments. I thought I might as well!! Dance 🩰 is breath, it's your heart beat. It's your soul. It's " the reason". I had to pretty much hang up, my red shoes. I have multiple sclerosis now. But on my good days, I dance in my kitchen!! What's in your soul, remains in your soul, and your heart, until your dying breath. Be safe and well. ( And live, YOUR passion ). Much love.
As an actor, I empathize with you and feel for you. I’m so sorry that you deal with MS. You are a warrior. Keep dancing. Keep that spark.
It doesn't get better than this. The beautiful dialogue, the gorgeous cinematography, the great acting...wonderful.
who will be dans le super bowl?
What’s the song the pianist is playing?
Here is the piece in its entirety. Gorgeous melody. ruclips.net/video/LZOsWXulBKw/видео.html
Anton walbrook. What a guy
Best Sport Movie from 1979 have Im of DVD the Soundtracks from Chic and Gibson Brothers are Unbeliveble Classic Super
The opening scene reminds me of James Hetfield on booze. This movie was the first I ever taped on my vcr. The score is great. Does anyone know where to geht it?
My thoughts exactly! Papa Het no doubt about it :D
Didn’t expect to find a Metallica reference here lol.
This is a classic opening every ache and pain an event from the game if you like this you should read the franchise. Also written by Peter gent
There you have two of the most underrated, underused actors of all time. Shearer could and should've been another Greer Garson. Walbrook could've been another Claude Rains with a touch of Errol Flynn.
Based on what I’ve read, Moira Shearer was reluctant to pursue an acting career. Apparently, she turned down many roles over the years. In fact, it took Michael Powell over a year to finally convince her to take on the role of Victoria Page. And unfortunately for years afterwards Moira was critical of the film, the quality of the dancing as well as her own acting. Must’ve been a personal issue with Powell b/c this film is certainly one of the best and Moira was spectacular in it.
Other than the hairstyles, this movie still holds up well today. I was 11 when this movie came out, and I remember the stories about how angry the NFL was, especially at this scene, and in Conrad's office at the end when Nolte says something like "if you got rid of every player that smoked grass, you wouldn't be able to field a practice squad". The League didn't want its dirty laundry aired; didn't want the public to know what these guys have to deal with on Monday morning, or what they have to go through to get on the field on Sunday afternoon. By today's standards, this movie is pretty tame. But back then? There were theaters in Texas that wouldn't show it. Just re-read the book, too. RIP Peter Gent.
god allmighty... a beautiful response thank you whoever are..
Very true
I came here because the title comes from one of Hans Christian Andersen's Fairy Tales. 😨❤🎵
One of the better 70's soundtracks. Great work by John Scott. And an underrated gem of a film.
This is the greatest scene in movie history.
Why is this music not recognised more?! It is just so good
70's football equipment, not safe like today's.
I wake up most morning much like this and I never played football sadly.
Same
Try working shift work in a copper mine for a major multinational corporation. You’ll understand.
This shit is how it really is. The owners were worse than slavedrivers in the 60s and 70s. And this is from a conservative. They treated the players like shit until the players union was formed. The last scene in the owners office is the best scene on football movie history.
Q actor!!Hace la peli el toda y luego las coreografías impresionantes!!Peli para no perderse
The only thing I would change is to get rid of all of the smoking.
It was considered the fashion
It was considered very classy to smoke back then.
2020bw In 1948??? LOL!!
Why? Makes the film that much cooler
Detroit Lions better WIN this game!!! All them millions Firestone-Ford pays that QB!!! He let a ROOKIE beat him on his home warrior turf & B&B probably let them WIN!!! think about it JimmyG.&Comp. had beat them and he is a spawn of the Cult of Belichick & MatPat with that other guy did yrs @ the alter of theBeli so I think he&Tom threw them a pro bono WIN!!! Tom Cruise(oops)Brady is a good actor trying to act all pissed off @ his performance&teammates PLZ!!! This team can afford to lose!!! some games we all know that!!! Firestone-Ford had MS as the highest paid QB for a time when it should have be TB with that title!!! B&B wanted to finally make MS work for his money & not dial it in!!! F-F had to pay that man to come-stay in the Depression "D" in 2009 the pinnacle yr of the bad times & gave him an extension so he would not morph into a Justin Verlander type QB if he left!!! L.O.L!!! Lame Ole Lions!!! LOL!!!
I played in the NFL in the early 90s that feeling is all to real.
What years and one what team?
Hello check this out..... Great Movie!
She can play LOVE
Attractive Brute!
