DIY Chest Freezer Cold Plunge - 1 Year Update
Having a chest freezer cold plunge has been a total game-changer for me. It offers consistent cold water throughout the year, removing the necessity to either make or purchase ice.
Spending several thousand dollars on a cold plunge seemed impractical to me. However, the ability to create a do-it-yourself (DIY) chest freezer cold plunge for under $1,000 has been a great investment.
Live life and be awesome!

It's cool but I don't like the thought of the lid closing on me
The UV recommended doesn't work. Look elsewhere. Source: owner
I wish steaks were cheaper. I wanna get nutrients in, but ground beef isn't really cutting it since I gotta cook it all the way through
I hear you! Maybe try a cheaper cut of steak like chuck roast or flank steak. They’re still delicious when cooked right.
The way he just gets right in like it’s a warm bath 😮
Thank you brother for the video. Building one here real soon just waiting on deep freeze to come in. Any problems with silicone that u used to seal after all this time of use?
That's awesome you're building a freezer cold plunge, you're going to love it. As for the silicone, it's held up really well and so far there are no issues.
Just as an idea of how you may update the auto on/off feature. Install the limit door switch on side of the lid’s freezer with 24V circuit that controls power relay that in turn controls the power circuit of the freezer. When you open the lid it will break the circuit and turn it on when you close the lid.
And to be 100% sure that it’s off - put into the high voltage circuit the LED color indicator.
This is a great idea. 👍
Any issues with the liquid nails failing once the unit heats up when cooling?
It's been over a year now and no issues as of yet.
Dumb depressed people do this
Sooooo coooool No pun intended 😅
Haha…Thanks! 👍
I just started mouth taping, and I realized that I have to cover my entire mouth side to side and top to bottom because if I don’t I actually breathe out of the corner of my mouth and wake myself up.
The sun also damages your vision
Great job! I did ice bath once a week for 2 years. Was great. Where are you located?
That's awesome! Keep it up! I'm in the Northwestern United States.
Looks amazing! I saw a video of a guy saying be weary when insulating the outside because of heat distribution. This obviously isn't insulation but I'm curious if it does effect the head distribution. Have you have any concerns?
Thank you! As for the wood wrap, I'm not to worried about it. I ensured that the freezer's ventilation and compressor compartment were not obstructed. I left openings in these areas and did not cover them with the tongue-and-groove material. Additionally, I installed spaced-out 2x2s on the freezer's surface first to keep the finished material off the freezer walls and to allow for some air movement. So far, everything is going well with no issues. I suppose time will tell if any problems arise.
Maybe I should buy a little heater for mine. I’m by the US Canada border. Hmmm
Yes, if you get consistent freezing temperatures in the winter, a stank tank heater would be the way to go if you don’t want your water turning into a solid block of ice. You could also add some salt to the water to slow the freezing process.
@@projectcameron Stank tank? That must be what happens when you don’t change the water. 😄 jk I will buy one soon online. Thanks.
I wonder how to change the water out in the middle of winter… I’m by the Canadian border in the US.
Good looking man
Eggs bacon avocado. Honey. Water. Knox gelatin.daily. goal.- 80 $ per week. I'm estimating. Some exercise. Begin my recovery from addiction journey. Ha jk. But just the power of protein
All great stuff! Keep it up! Living a healthy lifestyle takes effort and intention, but it’s definitely worth it.

Badass man!
"Alexa, call EMS!" LOL😂😂😂
lol…I hope not 😅
Just make sure you unplug that thing when you jump in and update your life insurance policy. Jussayin.
Yes, I always unplug before plunging. The cold water is already enough of a shock 🥶
Basic Dude Stuff!
👍
Great video. I’m considering on doing something very similar. How do you plan to make this outdoor proof? Are you going to just add a cover?
Thank you! If I do end up moving the freezer outside, I plan to install a gazebo or some kind of lean-to for protection from the rain. A friend of mine has his outside without any cover, and it’s been rained on with no issues, but I’d like to keep mine as protected as possible.
Wow! 😮
Which brand do you take?
Grass Fed Desiccated Beef Liver from Wholesome Wellness on Amazon. I like the Heart & Soul brand as well.
Like a bosssss
I don't get it.heat rejaction through the sheet metai cover.condensing coil located under sheet metal. You covered condensing coil with wood. And then sooner or later compressir get overheat and become burn out

Yeah ive given up on steaks. They are expensive and im not that good at cooking them. Its not that delicious or tasty as a restaurant. I love making hamburger patties. They are cheap, easy and tasty with salt. I cook them in ghee.
I totally agree. Ground beef is my go to because it's easy, cheap and tasty. 👍
So inspired by this! How often do you change the water if you need to at all??
Thank you! I change the water every 2-3 months to keep it fresh and clean.
@@projectcameron love it, that is so helpful thanks!!!
AWESOME
Thank you!
what business
IF I made this and had it outside -- it gets cold here, below zero -- would it freeze the entire thing solid without some type of circulation system?
I'm not entirely sure, but I think if it gets that cold, the water might start to freeze solid. You could try adding Epsom salt to the water to help slow down the freezing process.
So how did you do it?
Here's my video of the full build. ruclips.net/video/Z1S1EFX_KEQ/видео.html

Awesome! What cubic size is your freezer?
Thanks! Here is a link to the freezer I purchased. www.lowes.com/pd/Frigidaire-14-8-Cu-Ft-Chest-Freezer-FFCL1542AW/5001963889
Why add the 1by2 ? Can you just liquid nail the panels?
I believe gluing the siding directly to the freezer would make the installation more difficult. You'd have to glue each board individually and hold them in place while they dry, which seems like a hassle. Using the 1x2 framework speeds up the process once it's set, allowing the siding to go on more quickly. Additionally, the 1x2 provides some breathability between the siding and the freezer, which helps any moisture that gets behind the siding to dry out faster.
Love your videos. You inspired me to get a chest freezer and I love it!
That's awesome! Keep plunging!👍
Thanks!
Nice

Am i the only one worried about getting electrocuted lol
I always disconnect the power as a safety measure.
@@projectcameron OH! Is that wjat people do? Ive been so sketched out watching these. Thanks for the reply
@@projectcameron I know nothing about this stuff but isn't there something you could do to prevent electrocution if someone (like me) had a "senior moment" and forgot to unplug it before getting in?
I'm not aware of anything specific. The only option I can think of is if you plunge at the same time every day, you could plug the freezer into a timer to shut off for a couple of hours around the time you plunge.
@@projectcameron Thanks for the reply. The thought of forgetting to unplug it is the only thing that keeps me from building this.
Oh wow!!! 😎
👍
That's nasty. That meat does not look like healthy meat.
what they never talk about is the static shock i get in my legs and arms from my nerves over time of taking ice baths, i love ice baths but hate the shocks from my nerves that the ice baths cause
I like your life style mate thanks for sharing
Thank you!
Hello I'm 220 at present and I'm eating a pound of organic beef, hamberger from costco and my sister's are laughing at me! I read I have to eat 150 grams of protein!! I'm just starting out!
You’re doing it right. The rule of thumb is 1 g of protein per pound of desired bodyweight. I’m currently eating around 1-1/2 pounds of meat a day. Sometimes I’ll eat as much as 2 pounds. I weigh 172 pounds. Cut out the processed crap and prioritize the protein. Keep it up 👍
What size are the trim pieces you used for the lid?
It’s a 1x4 that I ripped down 3-1/8 inch wide.
Can you use a metal interior chest freezer ?
A friend of mine has a metal interior freezer and the only issue he has is it’s starting to get rust on some of the seams and corners.
@@projectcameron did he put a coating over the metal ? That's what I've seen people do ?
@@timarellano598 No, he just caulked the seams. I would definitely coat the whole inside if you have metal. It’ll be a better way to waterproof the inside of the freezer and also prevent the chance of rusting.
