Looks like a great running session.
Hi, Thanks for the comment. It was a fantastic line to run on. Sadly, the owner decided to finish with 16mm modelling and the line was dismantled earlier this year.
That “Cackler” is a nice steady-running model.
Hi, thanks for the comment. She had been a shelf queen for the previous owner who had never steamed her. After twelve years I acquired her and was told she'd need new piston rings and would never run properly! All I've done over the last four years is steam her and she runs as you see beautifully.
Hi Anthony, another great movie, nice trains and impressive layout, ciao Fabrizio - like 1

Many thanks, nice to hear from you again.
@@anthonywright4056 Hi my friend, thanks a lot to you too for sharing! Cheers Fabrizio
Its been a busy week just about to post another one!
@@anthonywright4056 So is very well dear Anthony!

Lovely railway but slow down please !
Sorry - its the visiting Drivers who disobey line speed limits
No sound
There sound when I play it?
When was this filmed?

Thanks for sharing. What's the prototype for the loco we can see at 5m 35s?
Hi, I'm not sure. The top half looks likes a round tank Sentinel but it has drive by jackshaft and rods to the wheels rather than chain. I'll see if I can contact the owner.
A brilliant video 🙂. Excellent stuff indeed and excellent footage I must say 🙂.
Glad you enjoyed it
Hope to see you again soon 👍
I hope so too!
A great setup, we'll have to catch up there sometime 🙂
Hi Will, yes let's. Steve C was there, let me drive his 37!

Many thank.
Very nice layout. 👍

2:31 It didn't stop to pick up the passengers!
I was born in Ipswich, England, where ''Ransomes and Rapier,'' used to build the biggest 'walking draglines' in the world. One bucket load could fill three trucks parked side by side. However, USA subsidies to Korea allowed them to undercut them, and they eventually closed.
Really nice that, interesting line to see, I loved the Slate Quarrymans train too
Many Thanks, the gravity train confuses people as it goes uphill as well as down! See www.yorkshire.16mm.org.uk 16mm Projects, anti gravity train for story of its build
@@anthonywright4056 Thanks I will have a look at that
👍
Proudly made in Ipswich UK.
Ah ha the complete video. You have some nice camera angles, Makes a good video 👍
I'll have to come back again, I've some left over shots with Welsh themed trains - I feel a Wales comes to Aireside sequel!

Nice video. Regards Frank
Many thanks Frank.
Incredible. Many thanks for making the video, it merits a much wider audience.
Looks like a fun day 😊
HI Dave, always good to get together for some serious play.
Great layout! How did you do the gravel or ballast in the yard? Is that frost- proved ? I think you have same tempertures like we have here in Germany. Thank you Andreas
Hi, After levelling the track slightly raised on plastic window frame packing shims I use two methods. For areas that are accessible I use a mix of sharp sand, cement and cement dye powder, this is tamped dry in and around the levelled track ensuring it is under the sleepers and is correctly profiled. A solution of water and SBR (styrene butadiene rubber - used as an admix for waterproofing) is gently soaked in ensuring it doesn't wash the mixture away. After a few days when set further coat(s) of the SBR solution are applied as required. This makes the mixture water and frost proof, some of this has been laid for over ten years and is undamaged. For hidden areas I use a mix of self levelling screed with cement dye which is carefully poured around the track ensuring it flows under the sleepers. While wet this is dressed with 2mm aquarium gravel. Again this is treated with SBR solution when dry to seal and fix any loose gravel. Hopes this helps.
Nice sharing, cheers, Fabrizio - like 4
Many thanks, its was a fun day out.
@@anthonywright4056 Yes, it was so! Thanks for sharing!
Looks like a good show but never understood why plain baseboard layouts are at shows. Me and others was a lot more intrested seeing trains in scenery. I asked if could bring my own layout as im a member and they said have to be exbition standard i pointed out the blank canvas layout and said wont be hard then. They was kinda speechless but said yes true.
The YGRS is different
The YGRS is different to other model railway shows. As we are primarily concerned with running in the garden it isn't easy to replicate this at a show. The large layout depicted is designed to showcase live steam locomotives and their running therefore scenery was deemed unnecessary. Where layouts have scenery this tends to be representative rather than realistic.
While nicely landscaped and scenicked railways are very enjoyable, it also must be admitted that they take vast amounts of planning, installation, and maintenance. For many of us who are interested primarily in the live-steam locomotives themselves and their operation, we gladly choose to omit all of the work involved with a scenicked railway..... Each to his own opinions & desires..... "Vaporo In Fraternitate!!" Have fun!!
Regards the mining wagons, did you build them or are they kits?
Hi, they are scratch built. I have a large stock of oak which I saw to 12mm by 3mm. The chassis is 12mm by 6mm strip wood from a DIY store. The wheels are Regner with new 4mm axles running in brass tube which have brackets soldered on to pin them to the chassis rails. I use jigs to make the chassis and floor, another to make the ends, these are glued together and the side planks added
@@anthonywright4056 Thank you Anthony, I will dig out some old mahogany and copy your design.
Nice set of wagons behind the first loco seen. Scratch built or from kits?
Hi Gary, they are scratch built. I was given a stock of large cross section oak and mahogany but in short lengths. I cut this on my table saw into 12mm by 3mm planks for the bodies and 12mm or 18mm by 6mm for the solebars and headstocks. The wheels, axle guards and couplings came my stock of old Brandbright parts.
To me I see a work of Art! Better than some stupid painting on a wall.. Passion, imagination, talent & time went into this. (may I please recommend you get a "GoPro" & tape it to the front of a loco and film it from the trains point of view.. you will get "Hits" like crazy on that.
That's good 👍 Richard Courtney Adelaide south Australia 🇦🇺
Many Thanks.
Very nice layout. Greatings Frank
Many thanks.
Fantastic,. you could only better it by having it pass over a real pond or stream with waterfall for the tranquillity.
Funny you should say that there is a winter project to rebuild part of the line by the waterfall and pond to integrate these more into the line.
Lovely.,., sound and the tracks really makes me be a little man to travel in this tinny train.,.
Rather nice if you don’t mind me saying.
Many thanks and I don't.
Really great, lovely line. Loved the domino effect when you backed the new rake onto the repaired one. Was it 23 at the end?
Yes it was!
don't know about quarry wagon I think you need a tree lopper next
Nice Garden Show, thanks for sharing! Cheers, Fabrizio
Hi Anthony, nice Lilla and suitable mining wagons! like 8 Cheers Fabrizio
Your video moves too fast
.....You can try slowing the video playback speed to .75% or .5% to make it more enjoyable..... I often find it necessary to do this with many small scale live-steam video films.....
.....So sorry, I should have omitted the "%" notation in my previous comment.....
Excellent layout. Great video.
