G’day mate. I rarely comment on RUclips videos but used yours this morning to replace my beebot main brush. I was ready to throw out the entire Robo. Ordered the part online for about $20, followed your video and now it’s back and running good as new. Thankyou very much, great instructional.
Great to hear mate! Thanks for your comment also. I’m keen to share more videos like this and help people save money and get the triumphant feeling that it’s not trash and you have saved it yourself. Feel free to subscribe and help boost my channel following 😁
Thank you so much ! I had another issue with my ecovacs and your video helped me fix it !
Hi, that’s great to hear! Well done on fixing it yourself. Thank you for watching
You can also just change the motor itself, I did it for both sides. It was tricky as there's no videos online how to get just the motor out, but I figured it out :) The last screw that holds on the cover which covers the gears, is underneath the sensor cog - you need to slide it up and you'll get to the final large screw. Then the entire gears can be seen with the two screws holding the motor. I cleaned one set of the gears as it was pretty black, the other seemed ok. Replaced both motors. This is the second time my ecovacs has a motor issue, but its out of warranty now so had a go at it. Took me a few hours, its 3:35am and I've got work at 7am, fml. lol. Now that I know how to just just the motor and not the entire assembly, its probably only 10mins longer to do per side. I had to cut the rubber grommet to put the new motor wire + the sensors back into the housing, otherwise you cannot feed the new motor plug through the grommet.
That is awesome and great you have figured that out! I have also tried this, but there’s a couple of tricky bit (that you’ve found) and is a bit easier just to replace the whole module. I’m stoked that you have it a go and nailed it!
Thank you for making this video, a new motor was £7 vs £160 for a replacement bot. I can’t believe how much we’ve come to rely on these things - while it was out of action vacuuming manually was so time consuming!
No problem! I’m glad that was helpful to you 🙂 I agree, we have a couple of these running constantly in our house…. Chasing after the kids and eating up their crumbs and lego 🤣
It said like this but after I turn off and turn on, it back to work, then not long time, it said to check the wheel again, if I turn off and turn on again it back to work as this loop. Does it mean the wheel got some problem?
Is it doing this before replacing the wheels? If so, then yes, I believe there is likely something wrong with the wheels. However, make sure they is nothing caught up and causing a jam first.
In the end I've bought another one of these... not because of the video though, which was good - I managed to get the right wheel replaced - I just couldn't get the top to sit down properly + because of limited free time, I really need to give OH back our table :). Video-wise, if I was going to give any feedback, it would be good to have a camera over where you put your screws (screw cam?), then when you grab one we can see which one it is (you could have a phone pointed at this). Slowing down a tiny bit before unplugging or detatching / attaching anything is useful for anyone who is pausing and looking to see where various things go (also making sure the thing being attached / detached is in shot - which almost everything was). Lastly, having bookmarks for at least a couple of bits would be handy. One of the issues I had was that some of the wires crept over into the compartment where the dust box goes (I guess I didn't fully re-route everything), I pushed that back, but I guess something was still in the wrong place, as the right side just wouldn't fully go together - the extra few MM means the bumper won't move back in as easily as it should. I probably should have stopped when things weren't quite going back together to be fair. I'll chalk this down to experience and sell it to someone who can replair it or part it. Dead handy video :)
Hey, thank you for your comments and feedback they are really helpful. I’ve been pulling things apart, putting them back together and fixing things all of my life, but new to the RUclips space and really Enjoying making the videos, especially when others gain value from them. All of it, so far is shot and edited on my iPhone 13 Pro, so I think I need to invest in some more gear to take it up a level. Like you say maybe a screw cam. Bookmarking is also a good idea, so I will learn how to do that and give it a try! Where are you based if you’re in NZ I could potentially help you get it back together and up and running. Shame you haven’t been able to get it fully back together and operational, but great that you gave it a go and you should be commended for that.
Wow, a big project that took 1 year, a lot of time, effort and money. How much it cost to restore the car?
Another great question! If you don’t factor into account a cost for your own time it was cost beneficial. However, any unknowns or extra work required, could easily turn it into a loss situation. The largest combined cost is for the purchase of genuine SRS components
How many hours you estimate would take to remove the dashboard?
Good question! I did it in a few parts, so is hard to put an exact number on it and For Example. had tackled some parts like removing the steering wheel on a seperate occasion. I suspect that if you have done something similar before it would be relatively straight forward and take anywhere from a couple of hours through to a full day… depending on skill level
Thank you for your video- very helpful!! I have ordered a new wheel and will re pull apart when it arrives. Thanks for the link to the aliexpress stuff much cheaper!!
@@OliviaB-t8e Great! Thankyou very much for watching and I hope the install goes well so you can get it back up and running! All the best

I absolutely love this and proud of you for giving it a go and conquering it! I’m hoping to continue to build my channel to make more videos like this to help people where I can! Thanks for watching
This is shit...
Heya, how did you manage to squeeze in the smaller connector? The drop sense motor is blocking it from connecting easily. Your video off off that bit. Thanks
Ah got it, I just unscrewed the main PCB to give that wee bit of allowance!
Hey, yes I was going to suggest that! Well done. It can be done if you gently bend the wires upwards before plugging it in, but undoing the main board screw to give that allowance is a great idea too. Thanks for watching and giving it a go
@ cheers thanks. This video came in handy again. Been getting a wheel stuck issue, but after a disassembly and rotating the wheel a bit with my hand, it seemed to have loosened it somewhat. Fingers crossed that this lasts and I don’t need to buy replacement wheels!
How to conccet
Make sure they are charged up and then open the case lid, open up the Bluetooth settings on your device and make sure Bluetooth is on. Refresh to find nearby devices and TWS should appear. That is the air buds so connect to this
Thanks for the video. 1. Which screw drivers do I need ? 2. How do I remember which screw/part goes where 😂
@@Rusty0007 hi mate, all you need is a regular Phillips screw driver and also a fine Phillips of size 00 or similar for the smaller screws. Good question! I place all the screws from the different areas in distinct piles and also use my memory to a certain extent. You could use a magnetic mat like this one below to help organise the screws better 🤪 s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_mOhXiqr
Thank you so much for making this video. I was able to replace the motors. I decided to do them all while in there. The vac works great now.
That’s awesome! So glad it was helpful and I am pleased you got the vac working perfectly! Any ideas on what I can make a video on next?
If sounds like that what too do?
Hi there, firstly check if there’s anything jammed in and around the main roller brush, then check if the square drive at the end of the roller is worn and if so, replace. Thirdly if all else doesn’t work it’s likely that the main brush drive motor needs to be replaced. Please click on the link to my related video or checkout my channel to find out how to replace this. Thanks
Thank you
Thanks mate, glad it was helpful

Thanks mate! Appreciate your comment, I put this stuff out there and often wonder if anyone is finding it helpful/ useful. I would really appreciate a subscribe if you havent already, will help me boost my channel 🙂 have a great day!
Hello Andrew, I purchased a used 950 with the same not charging problem. If I manually charge the battery out of the unit. Everything looks fine except if the charge goes below 75 percent. I replaced the battery with a new one and same problem. Think the charging circuit is faulty. Will figure it out eventually. Did yours recharge using the new battery?
Hey mate, sounds like you’ve had a good play with it and annoying it hasn’t resolved it for you! Mine started charging properly with the new battery and was back up and running. I’m not an expert, but like to share my Experiences working on my own stuff to help others where possible. A couple of things you could try if you haven’t already, are. - fully Reset the unit and re-setup in the app + check for any software updates. - make sure the charger and robot have clean contacts for charging. And the robot is sitting nicely in the dock. - if all else fails, you could try a new motherboard off aliexpress, but you want to make sure it’s a global version and this can make a repair rather pricey.
Good day! Thank you for the input! I have done the complete reset of the deebot. And then removed at and added to the app. I even have a current meter connected between the dock and the robot. When it docks and says it is charging it draws 600milliamps for maybe 30 seconds then stays at 100 milliamps. It will take over five hours to charge from 85% to 100%. Pretty sure that there is a bad componant on the motherboard. Cheers!
Hmm that’s annoying! Are you experienced in board level repairs? I did find this for a board replacement. Does it fully match your machine? s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_mqu2jKk I presume it is English (ie works with the global app), but to be safe would ask them if it’s an English version before buying it

@ENTHUSE_Me that would be handy, that's the one I have an issue with, there seem to be a fair few screws, it'd the second weekend I've made time to look at this, and actually got that far in (the plastic clips around the outside of the case are a little scary). Having calming music is good on these, as it can be a pain - going to be interesting getting everything back together.

Just curious how the bed frame is going? Was thinking about getting this one for myself, would you recommend?
We have three Mocka beds and they are all still going strong. One of which is 5 years old now. I presume they would last well for an adult as well but can’t fully confirm that. I would recommend them purely on the value for money. But a good mattress goes a long way

Hey mate, I really appreciate your comment and pleased that you found this useful anyway. Great job on giving it a go and feeling the satisfaction of conquering it! Thank you for watching
Due to BMW not putting a dipstick in the cars & due to BMW not using a canister oil filter setup I change mine out myself 5k after the dealership does the annual one (I have them do 1 per year to ensure I don't run into any issues with potential warranty work down the line). I like & can afford a 5k change interval, I know it's overkill but it's without a doubt better than a twice that interval. The other main reason I do 1 a year myself is because I flat out don't trust the dealerships I have in my area. With me doing at least 1 oil change myself a year there's zero doubt the car had fresh oil & a fresh oil filter in it at that time.
Nice one mate! Thank you for your comment
That’s pretty smart having the dealer do it once a year so that way they can’t really blame you
Bro'..I saved beaucoup dineros by never goin' near a Cherman Break-My-Window..Ja, oh Ja!
Classic
If you intend to keep the car a while and do your own oil changes it's well worth paying the £30 and swapping the oil drain plug out for a tap, makes changing the oil so much quicker and cleaner.
Hey thank you for the comment, I can see the appeal of this, but always been worried that it would get bumped or damaged and then I’d lose all of my oil. If it was a needle tap valve with multiple turns required to get it open then it would probably be safe enough. Haven’t tried this yet though.
Did i miss the jack stands? Hope you used them
Thanks for your comment. Yes, you might have missed that part, but I did use an axle stand on the side I lifted and mentioned it in the video. I’m starting to realise that most people only watch sections or part of the video.
OIL service should be carried out between 10000km & 13000km. I Recommend every 10000km to make sure to maintain optimum engine condition. I do my oil changes every 8000 km or every 6 months.
It is definitely cheaper to get it done DIY or at a local mechanic that knows BMW. I used to do this myself, but it is always such a mess and having to go try to recycle the oil later, too much hassle. I now bring my cars to my local mechanic who knows german cars, and have a shop hoist lift to do the job properly. I provide the oil and filter myself.
Hey mate, thanks for the comment. Yes it can be a hassle to do it yourself! I’ve always enjoyed doing this sort of thing, so that keeps me going. Great idea to find and have ready, a local trustworthy mechanic!

Thank you!
Great video mate! :) Thanks
Thank you mate! How are you getting on with your X1?
Hiya! How did you know it was time to change the motor? My robot has been making a louder sound than usual when it’s doing its thing, and I’m wondering if it’s a motor issue as well. Thank you!
Hi there, Thanks for Watch and for your comment! I’ve just acquired another T9+ with the same issue and it’s very squeaky but the main rotor is now only spinning occasionally, so will make a video about that also once the new motor arrives. This issue seems to be quite common as the small gear is easily damaged when shoe laces or large objects etc repeatedly get stuck in the main roller brush. If it’s worn but still spinning, I believe it’s highly likely that the small gear on the motor is starting to wear out and a new motor should fix it. As you see in the video, replacement is not for the faint hearted but can be done with patience and determination. However, first thing I would do is take out the main brush and make sure it’s clean and any caught debris is removed (especially around the ends) All the best! I would really appreciate if you Like and subscribe. if you haven’t done so already 😀
@@ENTHUSE_Me ah I see thanks. You mean that the teeth of the gear has probably worn away right? I’m literally in the midst of dismantling now, taking photos of my screws and following your video as I go along! The hardest parts so far have been removing the white body case off due to the clips. Yours are probably loose as you’ve done this a few times I believe? Already subscribed too, thanks for the quick reply too cheers
Yes the clips were reasonably tight the first time, but double check you have all the screws out first
Great video! I would not have been able to replace the motor without this video! Thank you!!
