36k+ miles and 10+ track days here with my BRZ, haven't pulled the pan yet to check for RTV but im sure there is some in the pickup. Guess I like living on the edge 😂. Honestly though im just waiting on aftermarket high capacity oil pans to hit the market to do RTV removal. Im more concerned about the right turn oil pressure drops which as others have mentioned the RTV issue doesn't seem to affect it because of the way the pickup is designed.

I have both I have a Supra for myself and this car for go out with my family!

I had the same issue with a mishimoto rad/fan combo, even while keeping the fan on full time car would overheat, switched out to a Maradyne M122k and no longer overheats. Mishi fans are trash.

I am an Android user, and have been trying the beta android gyraline app. I have tried it using four different phones from three different manufacturers, with none meeting gyraline requirements. I have noticed a particular characteristic from all four devices, that characteristic being drift of the measurement always in the same direction. This makes me think that there is a calculation component that has not been accounted for in the gyraline algorithm, especially versus time, resulting in measurement error.

I've found my brz to be surprisingly practical. It gets close to 30 mpg on the interstate and is a pretty comfy ride on long trips considering. I've fit 3 adults in for some short trips granted we were all under 6 foot. It's better than you think it would be at the things you expect it to be bad at. Heck I've helped 3 people move in my brz when you fold down the seats you can fit a lot of stuff in there!

If you do it going forward just take a small propane /butane torch go along the sides of the pan with the torch. Slightly heat it up then when you apply your strait edge removing tool or trim tools it will slide in easy and makes the job a lot less of a headache. Key here is the slight heat 👍

thank you, very useful video. i have bought for my tesla model 3 and have a comparable experience. It is accurate enough for aregular check, but the measurements sometimes vary and you have to do several measurements to be sure. for 160 usd it saves me money not having to go to an alignment shop every time i hit a pothole or kerb or something. I can check it myself.

Wait you did not mentions what type RTV brands use seal oil pan gasket? Also you did not demonstrate how much amount RTV silicone applied on oil pan.

It doesn't look like the other strange looking e.v.'s The power and stance of the car is aggressive in all the Right Places. I couldn't afford one before all the discounts. I would never buy a tesla, because of elon. So what's left? I'm glad that other people's comments haven't changed your mind about what you enjoy about the car. I think this RTV sealant is just a bad joke by Subaru. Can't we just get rid of it and use a gasket? I think I seen one from Fel-Pro for a Gen 1 86. After further investigation I would doubt this RTV issue is going away but I don't believe it's really a major concern by the the manufacturer. Personally I don't feel it would be any cause for alarm in regards to oil starvation that comes from track days where participants are perhaps not following the guidelines by changing out the 0w-20 to 20W-30 and overfilling by a half quart or so which seems to eliminate this problem. To further exasperate the situation often times oil coolers are added that have a unspecified pressure loss, any data on this by manufacturer is not usually given. Ergo a larger pan would be nice however fitting it in the space constraints due of the exhaust header is chiefly the problem.

In my opinion the GR-86 looks a little better than the BRZ. Either way, white and in base form is the way I would want one. Enjoy the ride. 👍
