i moved to the eastern shore of maryland around this time last year and as a train nerd, I was pleasantly surprised by the DC metro! i love driving up and riding it into town :) videos like this give me even more spots to stop at and check! i need more videos about the metro from ya! immediate subscribe ❤
Thank you so much! And don't worry, we've got more coming :)
Just discovered your channel. I grew up riding the Metro when I lived in the area with my parents. Thank you for these wonderful uploads! Just a nostalgic blast from the past for me! So much has changed yet remains a little bit of the same!
So glad you enjoyed it! :)
I thought this was some kind of DC related horror story lol
not quite!
I guess Brookland has no secrets.
Alas, when we made the video we did not have any secrets to share about Brookland, Cleveland Park, Van Ness, Tenleytown, or Judiciary Square stations. However, since then we have found some great fun facts for these stations that we will share in an upcoming "Bonus Secrets of the DC Metro" video! Stay tuned!
I worked at the TJ Maxx from when the Mazza galleria was thriving to my stores last day. It was creepy seeing the building get emptier and emptier. Eventually it was vacant except us and you could tell people were hiding in the mall bathrooms. We eventually locked the mall entrance. I remember going through the now abandoned metro entrance.
I bought a shirt at that TJ Maxx right before it closed. Yeah it was pretty creepy. I remember going to watch movies at the AMC back in 2018--crazy how much things can go downhill in a couple of years.
Some of the stations seem so much more interesting than others, with lots of vibrant artwork. I use Glenmont but it’s pretty boring and utilitarian. 😢
Don't forget about the beautiful mosaics though!!!
No silver line?
It's currently in production!
You missed a really good secret of the Red Line at Ft. Totten - shortly before they finished the Green line all the way through, there was a time that you could get a Yellow Line train at Greenbelt, and it would take a transfer track just before it pulled into the Ft. Totten station that would take you up to the Red Line and down to Mt. Vernon Sq (I got off at Union Station at the time) to join the Yellow Line again. I believe that they only did this during the morning and evening rush hours. You can see where the transfer line comes up on Google Earth here: 38°56'55"N 77°00'03"W and where it joins the red line just south of there: 38°56'49"N 77°00'00"W.
Yes! You should check out "Secrets of the DC Metro Green Line" ;)
You forgot the station after Union Station, which actually has a lot of secrets 😂
Your videos are much appreciated. I thought you were going to try to explain why the green line has a loop between Fort Totten and Shaw. There has to be a story behind that, it looks out of place.
Not sure why you skipped Beookland Station (my neighborhood station) and Judiciary Square. Brookland has an art installation ocer the east side escalators and Catholic University on the other.
Alas, when we made the video we did not have any secrets to share about Brookland, Cleveland Park (my neighborhood station!), Van Ness, Tenleytown, or Judiciary Square stations. However, since then we have found some great fun facts (like the one you mentioned) for these stations that we will share in an upcoming "Bonus Secrets of the DC Metro" video! Stay tuned!
Looking forward to the Silver Line video!
No, he did not invent the traffic light...There was NO LIGHT to it. Rewriing history.
I ride the redline every day. Thank you. :-)
You're welcome! :)
In spite of it's critics, DC Metro is a marvel of the urban world. Been riding it for going-on 50 years (1976 til now). Congraduations.
RIP Mazza Gallerie.
The Green line, A.K.A . The Tacky Line. Seen better days.
Thanks for the tour.
You're welcome!
Get off at Tennleytown and stroll to National Cathedral.. go to DuPont Circle and watch the people.
Judiciary Square??
Looking forward to the Silver Line video!
I'm thumbs down in this video because You failed to document how you can charge your phone inside of Metro trains and I don't really do you as a local goodbye
Hey, just letting you know I thumbed down this video and didn't watch more than 30 seconds of it because I'm fairly certain after going through your screenshots that you didn't include the useful tips of being able to charge your phone from inside the Metro train under the set ..to which I say you failed your video
You left out the unique pronunciation of “Judicuary Square.”
Thank you! Come do Baltimore’s lone Metro line please!
Do you know whose voice is used to announce the stops? I think it sounds like Sigourney Weaver.
I don't know the voice of the new trains unfortunately, but here's a great video on the person behind "Step Back, Doors Closing": ruclips.net/video/tG1RJW5RupE/видео.html
@@andyontrack Thanks. I think this is probably the same voice.
Were Judiciary Square and Brookland not mentioned on purpose?

Why did you skip Brookland-CUA?

I'm curious, did you have to pay a bunch of fares to get on and off the train so many times, or did you get a special pass from Metro? Love the series!
Great question! We typically would just buy a day pass (~$12) which gives unlimited rides all day.
@@andyontrack Ah, totally forgot those exist. Thanks for the reply!
I wish you mentioned Judiciary Square 😢, but great video!

You missed Brookland! It's in between Rhode Island and Fort Totten.

@@andyontrack I anxiously await its release
Vienna song sounded like Persona music
Came for the transit learned, about desegregation. Another banger vid!
I missed seeing Brookland- CUA. Is there is a reason why it was not included?

All the art installations are my favorite parts
Yaaaaa, another great vid!
Thanks! :)
It’s pronounced “grovesner”
Love this video!
Thanks so much!
I just rode the metro and got this video - the algorithm knows me…
This was magnificently crafted, thank you so much for making this! I'm travelling to DC soon and I'm going to make it my mission to look for the civil engineering plaque!
Thanks! And do check it out--riding the escalator is a legendary experience! :)
Loveeeeeeee ❤❤❤❤ sad to not see Cleveland Park stop, but happy to learn so much about my metro line 😊 Thank you for taking the time to create this video for us!

What a beautifully made video!!🎉🎉
I'm enjoying the series of videos about the metro system. This is very well done. I have a question regarding the stop at Arlington cemetery. I noticed that the hours of operation at the beginning of each day, always start at 17 minutes past the hour. What's up with that?
Nice job.
WHAT IS IT FOR?????????
red line is the goat line can’t even lie
Great video! You sound sort of like Rick Steves (at least at 1.25 and 1.5x speeds).
