    Nina Simone's Just in Time is also what makes this scene truly memorable, may her soul keep on resting in peace.

    Kudos to Ethan Hawke and Richard Linklater for fighting to keep this scene intact as originally planned. Everyone wanted the scene changed so that Hawke and Delpy kissed at the end of this scene and Linklater and Hawke knew it had to stay as is. They prevailed thank goodness and the rest is cinematic history. This scene (and the entire trilogy) is stellar.

    I just watched this movie today 20 years after it was published. I was on a short haul plane with 80mins flight. Towards the end, I wishes the plane flew slower. Who else is here in 2024?

    If the Céline character were a real person, I’d fall hopelessly in love in like 2 minutes. It would be embarrassing.

    Gahhh...what an ending. As much as i love the first movie, the perfect capturing of the rush of young lust. THIS is the one that sticks with me. They're adults now, life is...a lot, they've both given up on love, but then...they get this one chance. This entire movie is actually WAY more intense and beautiful to me than the first...

    The time.. I didn't realize that the time is the biggest antagonist in this film series. Maybe we all are missing some planes, we forget to love just in time. Luckily I've found my Julie Delpy in my life after 20 years.

    Remember watching this the first time, getting stressed as there was not enough remaining time for a happy ending, then Jesse says "I know" and its happiest ending. Nina Simone lyrics perfectly matches how both felt, they were lost and now they found thier way "Just in time"

    The way they're having a fairly innocuous conversation about Nina Simone and then he says, "I know." It all comes out in that final line.

    Ethan and 'the look', how he's watching her and looking in those last minute. Just wow. It's in my top 2 'love/longing' looks. Other one is when Cullen looks at Lily Bell while she's sitting on the bed in an empty train car, in Hell On Wheels. Look of love from the soul.

    It's been a while since I saw this movie. It is one of my two favorite movie endings, the other being Stanley Tucci making eggs for breakfast in "Big Night". It's been eleven years now since the third installment of the Before trilogy. I assume there won't be a fourth, which is understandable. The first three movies were so profound, it would be very difficult to match that urgency, even if the new movie is perfectly executed. Linklater, Delpy and Hawke can be proud of this project.

    I love how strong this ending is ... I feel it even stronger than Before Sunrise... There's wanting, there's poetry, there's life... There's the moment... The Before trilogy is part of my favorite movies but I keep this hidden cause it's so close to my heart... Before Sunset is my top out of the three and I am so blessed that I got to trace back most of their paths in this movie as I spent some time living in Paris. It's just beautiful... Beautiful... ❤❤❤

    And 0:19 you can see it. She looks… the music has been put on and she now knows 100% what’s going on here - and she immediately changes. Been borderline suicidal most of the movie 🤣 but she realises what’s going on (100% what’s going on) and she’s a different person. Smiling joking seductive. Again I don’t go for this stuff - but these movies are a whole other thing. Amazing. I put off watching them for so long because these “smaller” movies that get hyped often for me - suck. Never live up to the hype - these surpass the hype

  • @fatboy5926
    @fatboy5926 10 месяцев назад

    So the romantic type stuff generally not for me. I’m a bit of a cold bastard and they are generally generic tired bullshit - not these films. Amazing series really. It’s not a mistake that the ending of the first film is so rushed. They are both all over the place emotionally almost hyperventilating when they are starting to say goodbye. They don’t know what to do/say/what they even wanna do. The ending of Sunset? 180. Once he puts the CD in it’s blatantly obvious what’s happening. The last few minutes he barely even says a word. She is dancing talking and at times doing it while not even looking at him. It ends literally with her dancing facing the CD player and not him 😂😂 they know that they actually have time - and there’s no rush.
