ROY ELDRIDGE & GENE KRUPA - SAINT LOUIS BLUES - Two exciting takes from December 1942
You don’t wanna know how those two tracks sounded before I laid my hands on them and erased the umpteen clicks, pops, blops, and last but not least before I corrected their pitches. As far as I know - and believe me, I do! - the “SAINT LOUIS BLUES” is in G. In its initial form, as composer William Christopher Handy intended it to begin, this blues got a prefix in g-minor: A tango rhythm sets th...
ROY ELDRIDGE with GENE KRUPA - "ROCKIN' CHAIR" - Restored Air Check from October 1941
Now, there are two complete ‘live’ renditions of Roy Eldridge’s famous trumpet flight on “ROCKIN’ CHAIR” on the, err, “market”. The initial performance has been recorded off the air on June 7, 1941 and got subsequently released by the “Meritt Record Society”, then rereleased on the Swedish “PHONTASTIC” label. This track however has been privately grabbed off the air by a jazz fan on October 3, ...

Glenn Miller & The Army Air Force Band - "IN THE MOOD" - November 13, 1943
In my opinion the best (and one of the funniest) of the many versions of "IN THE MOOD", as played by Glenn Miller & The Army Air Force Band. It's from one of those "I Sustain The Wings" broadcasts and was aired, respectively recorded on November 13, 1943. Vince Carbon can be heard on tenorsax, Bobby Nichols on trumpet, Trigger Alpert was pluckin' the bass, and Ray McKinley made those funny rema...
Charlie Parker Quintet - "BARBADOS" - Paris, May 1949
Anyone who knows the LP-version will love this: 'Cause it's the very first time you can listen to this version of "BARBADOS" with all four theme statements by the Charlie Parker Quintet, and without some distortions due to the limitations of the private off-the-air recording in 1949. Now, it's also in the correct pitch ;) Charlie Parker (as) Kenny Dorham (tp) Al Haig (p) Tommy Potter (b) Max Ro...
"Invitation" (1952) - Opening Credits - Composer: Bronislau Kaper
Dorothy McGuire, Van Johns...

Yeah, you've read it rightly: It's Dave Brubeck & His Quintet, but his British Quintet: Bert Courtly (tp) Johnny Scott (as) Dave Brubeck (p) Kenny Napper (b) Allan Ganley (d) London, England, July 3, 1961 Stay tuned for more clips from this long forgotten English flick, entitled "All Night Long" (1962) (ab?)using the Othello plot for featuring some of the leading (mostly British) jazz figures i...

this is crazy
Love it, love it
The Duke Ellington Orchestra performs The Star Spangled Banner with verve and drive, and Sonny Greer’s snare work is witty and groovy. The last chord is pure jazz: it’s Db-major with an added sixth. Just grandiose, Dukish grandezza so to speak.

This band swung better than the civilian band he led.
Wilona, buffalo butt bookem, Sammy
one of the most beautiful movie themes ever
Incidental talk by Corporal Ray McKinley -- no wonder it's funny! Thumbs up and bookmarked. Thank you.
great music to work by on a gloomy day thank you for sharing
In the Mood has got to be one of the top 100 songs all time in America.
"JAZZ TRUMPETER ADAM JOHNSON DIES ON THE BANDSTAND" Mr. Johnson was thirty-four. Cause of death: A ruptured liver and spleen.
Nat can really blow...and Sammy can really act...nuff said.
GOSH THIS BRINGS BACK MEMORIES AND THE SADDEST ONE WAS WHEN WE HEARD OF GLENNS TRAGIC LOSS OVER THE CHANNEL NEVER FORGOT THAT
I'm an American, but my daughter and her family live in the village of Clapham, Bedfordshire, where Capt. Miller took off from Twinwoods RAF base on his final flight. The Glenn Miller Museum is located there, in the old control tower. The field itself is planted in row crops now, but some of the old buildings are still standing. Local people have created WWII museums of various kinds in them. It's worth a visit, for sure. Thanks for this video and music!
Of course it was Glen Miller who began it all. We as a Country should praise Mr. Miller for his band and his commitment in keeping the moral up between the military troops at home as well as the civilians. These are the folks we need to teach out children aboiut.
Puts me in the mood every time I hear it!
one of the greatest swing tunes
That was the great generation. The people who saved the world in ww2.What more can I say.
Still M.I.A after nearly 75 years. It'd sure be something if someone was ever to pull his plane out of the channel... or just rename the channel 'The Glen Miller Channel'
Great music!
Can I buy you a Brew? Thanks for this.
Beautiful!!
Nobody saw Morgan Freeman?
Did anyone notice Bookman from Good Times on stage in the band?
Ty!
THIS.....MOVIE.....IS.....A.....CLASSIC......LOVE.....THIS.....MOVIE!!!!!!
one of my all time joints
My Parents had this record set!
There will only ever be one.
Brews jazzclub Thanks for this Glen Miller is my all time favorite band. Saw the New Glen Miller band at Sunny Brook Ballroom in the late 1970's. This is awesome. Makes me think back to My Dad flying in a B-29 in the tail gun going over the hump. I am sure Faith and this music kept them going, again thanks for this.
Glen Millar had a willy full of VD , so the US took him away to a Scandinavian pox-colony where he died in 1973.
😣😣😣😣😣😣😣😣😣😣😣
Adam had some serious issues!!!! O remember that movie! Now that was REAL jazz!!!!
This song, going on a century since it was recorded, continues to please. It still smokes!
was raised up with all kinds of music even played music...was in love with several musicians
they should rename his flight path across the channel - the glen miller sea
I remember seeing this scene on tv when I was just a kid. Had to be the late 60s.
I have loved it for 60 years!
Comic voice by Ray McKinley.
god i love this movie! and the acting, music is sublime. thank you for putting this out for more to see and hear.
Best Music ever and I am 43 and listen to Glenn since I was 13.
How sweet it is !!!!!
That's Ray Mckinley at the end.
Johnny Desmond was truly one of the great voices of the War Years!
I was just a kid in England listening to these sounds coming from Dads big old radio. Always loved this music and have memories of GIs stationed near my home,we used to call out , got any gum chum and they would always give us some.
Kilroy Was Here And He Thanks You Brews Jazzclub !
