1920 one of my favorites that you can get off the shelf. It's on sale for $50 right now in NC stores this month too.

I really like John J Bowman but I’ve only found it a couple times. I can find Bowman Brothers more often but don’t like it as well.

Wild Turkey Rare Breed is a favorite of mine. 👍

1920 is one of my favorite pours. I like WT (101 is always in my cabinet) but didn’t take to Rare Breed as much as I expected to.

The RE cask strength stuff is not great on the neck pour, but once you get that down to the thicker part of the bottle and give it a couple weeks, its awesome stuff. I recommended it to my buddy and he was all pissed at me even though I warned him he wouldn't like it at first. Sure enough 2 weeks later he apologized and said he's never doubt me again. If you're going to do a blind, make it fair. That RB had been open a long time and is probably drinking nicely.

So, when you're nosing your whiskey, open your mouth a bit. This will open things up and you'll have a far stronger experience with it. Also, make sure you're coating the inside of your mouth on the first sip of each whiskey and give it some time to acclimate without even worrying about tasting it. Use the second sip to taste it and make sure you do a "Kentucky Chew" on it to let it atomize a bit so you get a better opportunity to discern things.

Enjoyed the video! Would have added another good element if you took guesses as to which bourbon was what. But format and quality was great!

There is no way you can do a blind taste test with those two and not be able to tell which is which… very distinct and different flavors

buffalo trace is amazing for the price, but eagle rare is even better for slightly more money

I also picked up a bottle of Blue Note Juke Joint Uncut Unfiltered Staff Selection Barrel @ 117.4 proof for the same price as a .750 bottle of Buffalo Piss, I mean Trace!

In upstate NY BT is $28 for a .375ml bottle almost $50 for a .750 and the BNJJ is $38 for a .750 bottle. And just as tasty!

We have similar budget conscious palates. That's a good thing

I live in Virginia and John J Bowman is hard to find here too. It was recently added to the list of products that are only put out for limited availability drops along with all the other allocated stuff. It was still hard to find before that though, I got lucky and went to a store right after they had gotten a shipment in before it was 1 per person and grabbed a few of them

John j is better than eht sb and much cheaper when secondary is factored in, both can be found in ny often, also straight bourbon must be age stated if it’s under 4 years old. So it’s at least 4

BT is my favorite hands down. As a matter of fact, I like standard 81 Proof WT better than the 101.

Had my first Buffalo Trace last month - probably the smoothest bourbon I've ever had. Also just had my first shooter of WT101 - first reaction "Holy shit - that's delicious!" They're different but it's good to see a head-to-head like this.
