Power Spreaders
Добавлен 12 авг 2017
Welcome, please look over all of our powered fertilizer spreaders. We have videos of fertilizer spreaders we are building and how to use them. At this time there are 2 main models(gas and electric). The 3rd model is electric without a battery(hybrid?). We hope to have it available soon! The gas spreaders come with either a Honda or Briggs & Stratton motor. The electric spreaders come with regular lead acid batteries or the LiFePO4 battery for much longer run times. Please also visit our website PowerSpreaders.com
First Ever? Diesel Power Spreader...
This may or may not be the first ever Diesel Power Spreader, but we thought it would be cool. Maybe your equipment all runs off diesel so the convenience of one fuel would be nice. If nothing else we feel when there is gas and battery powered equipment available we didn't want to leave the diesel crowd behind.

With this hopper extender you can add more product to your spreader. Also this helps from over fills being spilled over the side. It will be good for the less dense products like some of the organics.

Spreader Shearing Pins?
Просмотров 7532 года назад
Do you shear pins on your fertilizer spreader then stick wire or a nail in the hole to finish the yard? Then find out that it happens more often after the fix. This is because your temporary fix is a smaller diameter than what was originally there. This could be an alternative design to the electric spreader. We have lots of ideas on how we are going to do this spreader. It is basically the electric powered spreader without a battery. Not saying this is a better way but we think we will be able to build it eventually for less money. PowerSpreaders.com

How long does it take to add "The Four Wheel Kit"?
Hi, great video, I have a 3 wheel Lesco spreader also, that has been abused. Having problem identifying which model it is. I discovered a number on the engine block 704592 is this possibility the model or the serial number? Having trouble getting parts without being able to identify the spreader, can you provide any guidance? v/r Amy
Yes you can call me. powerspreaders.com
I really like what your doing here. Could you make one with a Spyker Spreader
Wow diesel power that thing must be some kind of workhorse. Never heard of that one. Pretty amazing stuff. Just imagine how many lawns you could get done with that.
Hanks for posting maybe one day I can get my hands on one of those power spreaders. Top of the line really nice. Love the third hole attachment. We next why Lesco stopped putting them on the spreaders? When you look at them in the pictures in the catalogue at SiteOne it still shows the remote but when they sale them they don’t have them and it’s a discontinued item. Thanks again for the post. I try and watch every video it’s Lawn Season
This is the most stupid thing ive ever seen. 😂 Whats the point of it? You still walking behind it. And you only can walk so fast. If there was a platform with a wheel to stand on. It would make alittle more sense. Its almost like putting a motor on a broom stick. 😅. This is a file 13 invention
Hi, thanks for the video. Where do you buy the power spreader axle replacement though?
Wow thanks for the post it’s been a while. Always looking forward to them best spreaders on the market
Want !
Yes
Are these self propelled?
Looks great
Did you get it working like new again
Yes like new.
didn't know they could pile BS that high.
I have a three wheel electric and a four wheel electric. I love both of them. I am way faster than the stand on machines. By the time they unload and get going Im finished. Plus they are cumbersome on hills and these are not. I highly recommend the three wheel due to it being lighter and just overall easier to get around. These are perfect for homeowner lawns and do well even on the big properties. The turning radius is like a push spreader so the spread pattern is way better than a stand on. The batteries for me last all day and I never am out of power. The customer service with this company is very good and I highly recommend all of the spreaders from here.
You said if the wheel was frozen to the shaft that you cut the shaft With the shaft cut. Does the gearbox where the small shaft goes into have a lock in clip ? Also does the gearbox come apart like the old Lesco brand did ?
I bought one and totally love it. Runs all day with no issues. I had to get used to plugging it in but other than that it runs all day with very heavy use. Great company too. Get one the customers love it too.

Outstanding work,I just found your product and I am very interested. I am tired of walking but for the right spreader I am seriously looking at your product. great spreader and company. Do you do any military discounts ?
My cost have gone up so much I’m trying to keep my cost down I don’t have any room for any discounts I apologize
@@powerspreaders6651 it’s okay. I still believe this a great spreader

I'm a DISSATISFIED CUSTOMER of the meg mo system. Leaves streaks in semi heavy grass. DRY at that, no rain in 5 weeks. My 52 inch deck standard blades are 18 inches long, the knifes they sent measure 17 3/4 when spread. They leave streak in semi heavy grass and dry. Contact the company all they say is ALL SALES FINAL
Based on your RUclips video mowing 5 acres of Bahia saying you sharpen the Meg-Mo once a year, I bought them. To cut to the chase BOTTOM LINE: Meg-Mo is no good for Florida sandy soil grass. They did not work. The long of it: I purchased the Meg-Mo blades for my 52” Scag Wildcat in October 2021, and received them and installed them and used them for the first time on 11/20/2021. I have 4 acres of land to mow, 2/3 is Bahia Grass and the 1/3 St. Augustine. They have now mowed 4 times and are worn down and need replacing because the Florida sand turned the lift side of the blade into paper thin steel that is chipping off. The blades are totally ruined. Not a very good showing, considering the Meg-Mo cost were 5x more, $250 FOB vs the Scag Marbain $48. Now I look at the replacement blades and they are $107.40 vs Scag Marbain $56.25 (current price). The blades are 2x more than Scag OEM and they have not lasted even as long as the Scag blades which I could sharpen three times before they have to be replaced.

Mike this is JP w/ Higher Ground in DFW. We have not had a problem since you recommended this hardware and we were having problems often.
Awesome content..just what i needed...about to get on it and fix it..
great measurements, thanks for sharing this. What was the granule/prill size (assuming standard 220 SGN)? any variation between sizes of granules?
I was using Lesco 24-0-11 standard prill.
Wow thank you for the post excellent maintenance tip.
My blades for my eXmark 52" Vantage arrived on Saturday ( 09April2022 ). My current blades by Rotary ( part# 11421 ) after 15 hours in Florida ( are always worn out ).Then, I installed the Meg-Mo blades at 318.1 hours on my mower; and started to mow my property 5 acres.Currently, I have mowed 2.6 hours with the Meg-Mo blades ( hour meter is 320.7 hrs ) and mowed about 2.5+- acres of my property. Thus, the Meg-Mo blades are completely worn out ( after 2.6 hours ).I ordered and paid for another complete set on 28 April 2022 / for a 2nd Test.
This same comment on every Meg-mo video.....
I really like the idea of these spreaders. My only concern would be switching products within the same visit - today, I dump out additional product. This would be far too heavy to dump out the product to spread another product
Sweet looking spreader!
How much?

Excellent teaching video!
Hmmm, decisions decisions. Do I want the 3 wheel or 4 wheel. Hey Mike, we're coming down to see Barry on the 14th and 15th. Will you be around by chance either of those days for us to come get an electric spreader?
Yes. I will have both a 3 wheel and 4 wheel ready for you to test.
@@powerspreaders6651 great! I believe it will be Tuesday when we come down after Barry finishes the van.
looks good, thanks
Your welcome! It is ready.
I am very much interested in the Hybrid with 4 wheels. Any ballpark idea of what the price will be ?
Looks like it will be $2390. This should be ready by February 1, 2022.
Whats the turn around time on payment?? Out of punta gorda and after first of year going to buy one . Wondering if ill be able to pay and pick up same day??
Same day normally on electric and gas spreaders but we aren't done with this hybrid yet. Best to call a day ahead of time so we can have what you want ready.
@@powerspreaders6651 okay cool thank you im coming up January 2022 to get a gas one ! The large lawn companies around me have nice hitch mount carriers ( almost like a cargo rack) with a lockable pin to hold it down. Do you sell that also??
@@justinmorrison9903 Yes we have carriers also.
Can these handle the load of a 9 gallon spreader mate drop in when full..?
Yes
The question is------how much trouble is it to balance these blades? If you can at all.
Thank you for the post. here is a little spreader maintenance I’ve learned best spreaders on the market. Every lawn care operator (LCO) needs a spreader that can get the job done. With features for efficient applications, walk-behind spreaders are a go-to solution. To learn how to best maintain walk-behind spreaders, we spoke with Tom Hackworth, category manager, equipment and safety for SiteOne Landscape Supply, and Michael Falconer, president of manufacturer Walk Behind Spreaders and owner of Lawngevity, a lawn care company based in Sarasota, Fla. Choose to walk In areas where access is limited, walk-behind spreaders help get the job done. They can get through tight gates, small yards or around obstacles like swingsets and landscape beds, Hackworth says. LCOs also should consider using walk-behind spreaders on steep hills for safety, he adds. The smaller, lightweight design of Falconer’s Walk Behind Spreader brand makes the unit easy to maneuver and control, he says. Falconer adds that walk-behind spreaders are less likely to get stuck and easier to get unstuck. Greased up It starts with preventive maintenance. What LCOs do - or don’t do - on a daily basis affects a spreader’s effectiveness. Greasing the wheel bearings should be performed daily or weekly at least. “Greasing the bearings keeps out moisture and fertilizer dust,” Falconer says. “Bearings will begin to rust without routine greasing, and the unit will decline.” The biggest thing? “Never let a spreader sit with fertilizer left in it,” Falconer says. Empty the fertilizer hopper every day and wash the unit. And be sure not to let a spreader sit unclean at the end of the week, he adds. Washing the spreader and drying it will help prevent any fertilizer dust buildup. It is also important to keep the spreader impeller clean, according to Hackworth. “Dust on the impeller can cause the spread pattern to be compromised,” Hackworth says. “Which potentially could lead to misapplication of product.” Even with preventive maintenance, spreaders are subject to some wear and tear. When a mechanical issue appears, Hackworth recommends immediately fixing the problem. “There is nothing worse than being without a spreader in the middle of a round,” he says. Fine-tuning Calibration is important because products need to be applied at the correct rate. Determining how to calibrate a spreader depends on a variety of factors. According to Falconer, an LCO’s walking speed and the size of a property determines proper calibration. “You can’t just set the machine and (have) it be right. It’s going to depend on the lawn size and the speed of the LCO walking,” he says. Everybody walks at a different pace, and Falconer says LCOs should be fine-tuning calibration throughout the day. Calibration will be different for smaller, residential yards versus large commercial properties. Hackworth recommends maintaining a constant speed all day. “Typically, an applicator will move quicker in the morning and could underapply product,” he says. “Applicators also tend to move slower in the afternoon, and the result will be overapplying product.” Underapplication can cause poor performance and increased callbacks, he says. Overapplication is wasteful and may cause environmental and legal concerns. Following instructions for spreader settings on a bag of product is a good starting point, Hackworth says. He also suggests using higher-quality products that have consistent particle sizes. “Keep in mind, the larger the particle, the farther it will be distributed. Inconsistent particle sizes could result in misapplications,” he says.
I couldn't have said it better myself. lol
🌞Pretty keen idea! Eliminate the battery and the problematic parts of the gas model (hydraulics & chain). Did I get that right? Only thing you need now is a trailing seat or trailing stand for it.
It will eliminate the hydraulics but we don't have any issues with it. Its just an additional cost eliminated. Still have the chain.
Love the idea. Looking forward to when it’s available
This should be ready by February 1, 2022.
Have you considered making a push sprayer with a boom like this?
Yes but because you can buy that attachment that will fit right in my spreader I haven’t done it.
How often do you replace the impeller? I'm just a home owner and i still seem to go through at least 1 impeller per year because of wear on the offset circle that interfaces with the agitator to make it wobble. I've checked all the potential sources of friction to see if that might be causing it, but everything moves nicely. I do have the permagreen agitator so thinking that might cause extra friction/force when the hopper is full. Do you grease/lube this part of the impeller (I hesitate due to fertilizer sticking to it)
the part that is on the impeller that makes the agitator move is it parallel to the ground flat not angled down? Your impeller should last longer I think the agitator assembly may be lifting up went under load from your agitator and it won’t do this if it’s flat or parallel to the ground.
What kind of grease do you recommend for the zerks?
I like Lucas red sticky
Will you guys be at GIE?
I was there in 2015 or 2016 and I will be back but not this year.
Standard mower blades are purposely manufactured soft so they bend when striking a hard object and not suddenly break then fly away and hit someone or thing. Some standard blades have a hardened edge. This new 4-blade disk style is expensive and I am not convinced they are cost effective.
Well it's been 4 years now. I'm wondering if you're still liking those blades or move on to something else? Was thinking about getting some on my mower and curious if you're still excited about them?
I still like them. I wore out the knives and haven't called Meg-mo to reorder new ones yet. So I'm back to sharping often again.
Why does your spreader need a motor?
I put two blades on each shaft in a cross,my new ultracut on my trivantage and will never go back, mulch and blower action increased for quicker maintenance
They both work great well-made machines
☀️Nice!!
