It has been said you can't know how someone feels until you've walked a mile in his shoes. It seems Mr. Blackwell has walked a mile or two. I see a broken young man laugh through his pain as I have done so many times I can't count and mostly for the same reason. I'm an old man now, so let me tell you young men in pain a thing or two that might help you now or later. Never be ashamed of why you hurt. Every time you open your heart and share your pain with another, it gets easier to deal with and overcome your own. Every time you help someone else get past their pain yours is paid for over and over again because what caused your pain now takes purpose, to help others. If you have trouble forgiving others, perhaps you should forgive yourself first, only then can you forgive anyone else.

My father taught me how not to be a shit bag of a father myself, and that is the only thing I can thank him for. My daughter will never know the empty and lost feeling that comes with an abusive and abandoning father.
