Chance to Come Home Resolution Briefing
The National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC) joined U.S. Representative Emanuel Cleaver (MO-05) to introduce a new congressional resolution seeking to address the injustices and harms of deportation on U.S. families and communities. The Chance to Come Home Resolution, which Rep. Cleaver is co-sponsoring with U.S. Senator Cory Booker (NJ) and Representatives Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) and David Trone (MD-06), urges Congress and administrative agencies to provide deported people a meaningful opportunity to return to the United States.

The irony of this conversation is that there are countries around the world that don't deport you. No. They'll shoot you! Look at what happened to hundreds of Ethiopian migrants in Saudi Arabia several months ago they tried to cross from Yemen. The Saudi border guards shot and killed hundreds. The claim of families being separated rings loud with these activists; yet, the USA is one of very few countries that prioritizes family relationships in applying to legally immigrate. Many activists cry loudly about families being separated from children that were born here, yet most countries don't even have birthright citizenship.

  • @TomM60

You pile of idiots that want to release illegals should also be put in prison or detention. I have a friend waiting on the Mexican side of the border to enter this country. She has an immigration lawyer working on her case and she is waiting for her hearing to be allowed in. She supports the immigration laws of the US because she worked for the immigration department in her former country and she said no illegal would be allowed to cross the border of her country either and if they did they would be escorted back out of the country and fined. If they attempted to return to her country they would be arrested and put into prison and the prisons in her country are hard labor camps. Maybe that's what we need in this country. If she is allowed to enter this country she will help make it a stronger country while those who already broke the laws once will do it again and again increasing the residents of our state supported prisons. WE DON'T NEED ILLEGALS RUNNING LOOSE IN THIS COUNTRY!!!!! Now the Supreme Court made the decision that an illegal has no rights the 9th circuit court has no mandate to stick its nose in something they are trying to make legal that is now illegal.

Asylum is to be sought in the next safe country...not the richest in the hemisphere. The President is not attacking anyone...he is merely doing exactly what he was elected to do...stop the flood. The only people who should be seeking asylum at the US southern border are Mexicans. The United States does not have to accept every foreigner who can creep, crawl, or caravan to our borders...so fuck off "Immigrant Justice".

I really have found the LGBT community support over the past few years for the overall asylum issue quite fascinating to say the least. Especially regarding the southern border and Latin region countries where deeply rooted religious convictions have not allowed for progression of LGBTQ lifestyles, such as has taken place in most developed nations. It is true many migrants in the of the LBGTQ community in some Latin regions face discriminatory practices and oppression and its good to see advocacy groups support their claims as they navigate through a extensive and complex asylum claim process. What I find mind boggling and deeply troubling is these same attorneys and immigration advocates willing to lend support to the vast majority of non LBGT asylum seekers who are partaking in the regional prejudice and oppressive mind set causing the Latin LBGT community exodus in the 1st place. Kind of like opening your front door to let in a victim fleeing a robbery and holding the door open to allow the robbers to follow. Or better yet, if after Israel's creation as a safe haven for Jews in 1948, allowing former Nazi war criminals to reside there as well. I wonder, do any of these attorneys question their client's views on LBGT rights before deciding if they want to help with those claims to asylum? Seems like these advocate attorneys would be considerate of who they're helping attain legal residency in the US before letting in 1,000s of more bigots.
