Featherstone Spartans Scooter Club

Featherstone Spartans Scooter Club officially formed between 1979 and 1980. The Mod revival was in full swing and was boosted by the release in cinemas by the film Quadrophenia. Although a Featherstone Club the Thursday night meet ups were then held at the Queens Hotel in nearby Pontefract. As the years passed in the 1980's the Mod revival slowly diminished so too did the interest in scooters. Thankfully a die hard core of enthusiasts remained and resurrected the seeds of a new revival, better than ever to keep the love of scooters alive. Since those early days the Scooter Club as progressed and is widely appreciated for its charity work and services to the local community. Club officials are Phil Thomas, Neil Siddall and Kevin Glassell. Saviour of the day on many ride outs is Keith Wriglesworth of Gupta Speed Scooters. Ride outs are usually held on Wednesday evenings at 6.30pm meeting at The Green Lane Working Men's Club in Featherstone.

Always my favourite band The Specials,I left school in 1979 and really got into 2-tone music,it was the best music around and I was a rude boy,that music kept me going in the tough early 80's and beyond.RIP Terry Hall you will be sadly missed,thank you for the music,🖤🤍🖤🏁🙏🏻
