I'm a local resident in the catchment and can see MCA is highly regarded, has good facilities and gets good results. However, the footage of the children being constantly scrutinised as they move around the school feels uncomfortably authoritarian, controlling and oppressive. Is bullying so pervasive a problem now that this is necessary as an ongoing policy? If not, there's a risk of a paradox - that in pursuit of an environment that eradicates bullying to safeguard students from each other, the school creates a stultifyingly oppressive environment where the staff continually scrutinise the students. It doesn't seem a proportional or appropriate response to oppress the majority in order to suppress the minority. I would want my child to be in an environment where they are afforded the trust, respect and liberty to behave appropriately without being constantly 'policed' so heavy handedly. The level of anxiety and stress these students must have to internalise or process from this constant scrutiny and the school's controlling pursuit of obedience must create deleterious mental health effects for some. Results and attainment are not the only measure of 'success'.

There's no way that you can step out from RAF fire service into any local authority whole time duty system in UK. You will be required to do the basic course again.

I presume this is a good route to get into the Regualr fire service once you’re qualified. It’s annoying how difficult it is to join the regular fire service

As a Hackney parent and former Education employee, you have to see to believe the impact Mossbourne and school’s like it have had on the chances available to young people in the borough. Before 2004, regardless of anything else, including OFSTED inspection reports, schools in Hackney were failing pupils on a near industrial scale. The proportion of students passing five GCSEs was as low as 38% at at least one school and the problems limped from year to year with no real change in sight. Last year, 87% of Mossbourne students achieved this standard, 70% receiving an A* to B grade! The simple truth of; good discipline, effective anti-bullying, backing pupils through thick and thin, not forgetting brilliant teaching, have achieved with the same population results that could only have been dreamed of twenty years ago.

I went to Mossbourne. And I gotta say, preventing bullying is very important but the discipline workload and exam preparation is damaging to students wellbeing. We couldn't wear gloves when lining up outside in the cold weather. We had 10 homeworks a week which was a big disruption. All we were prepared for was exams and competition. So why not have a National Education Service controlled by workers and students.

The RAF Fire Service has come a long away since l left in 86 long may the tradition continue.

One suggestion,It is not a really good idea to stuff children into uniforms that get dirty so fast,That you have to wash them on a daily basis..
