Never smoked but still have bladder tumors?

I don’t smoke,but have chewed tobacco for 30 plus years. I just had a TURBT removal done yesterday at the hospital. I had a 13mm tumor on my lower bladder wall removed and it was a quick successful surgery. I didn’t have to have a catheter or urine bag sent home with me,which was a big relief for me. I am only 44 years old and hoping that this tumor is benign and will not Come back. Waiting to hear from the pathologist on the testing from the tumor.

“Comfortably in lithotomy position”? Yeah, right! Trust a guy who’s been in it. Lying naked with your legs spread in the air while multiple female nurses take in the view (whether they are directly involved or not) is not “comfortable”. My wife tells me it’s not very comfortable for women either, but they usually don’t have two or more opposite gender nurses/assistants taking in the view

Rezum is an extremely painful procedure. It doesn’t last. You will need another procedure to relieve the BPH symptoms as the prostate grows back. Wearing a foley for a week was the least of the problems. The 30 days following the procedure were……. No less than terrible. I have seen 2 urologists since I had the Rezum. Both stopped performing the procedure. If you really want to find out about Rezum, read the comments from men that suffered through the procedure and the weeks that followed.

Parboiling your prostate with live steam would seem to me to be an incredibly painful torture that Torquemada himself would have been seriously frightened by. No thanks. I'd rather have my prostate yanked out with a hook and chain hooked to the bumper of a squatted Silverado than take this treatment.

somehow find out if you are allergic to latex before TURBT. I had no idea, got a huge welt under the leg bag strap. Well, they also used a latex cath and it BURNED even after it was removed. Just had it done a second time, they used silicone and NO burning, didn't even really feel it in. Huge difference.

I can't imagine needing urgent surgery and having to sort out the payment for it before it can go ahead . America really needs to .look after its citizens better than this.

REZUM is an extremely painful procedure. “Water Vapor” is a polite way of saying live steam will be directly injected into your prostate while fully awake. Your life is miserable for the next 30 days as the necrotic tissue from your prostate is slowly expelled. The pain from this procedure is beyond what is acceptable in today’s medical practice. The kicker is another procedure will be needed in a few short years as this procedure effectiveness is short lived.

TURBT was a disaster. Friday was the procedure in morning and was sent home. With no medications. Friday afternoon I was bleeding constantly and then to hospital. 4hr wait and no Not admitted to hospital. Went home and called Sat morning, another 4 hr wait in emergency. Admitted for 4 days with constant blood clots. My doctor did not visit me once. After he admitted he was not aware of my 4 days in hospital.

I'm going in tomorrow!!

Wearing the capiter now for 2 weeks so a little difficult to return to work but the operation was 5 min.

What if you live alone and have no one to help you. I'm questioning why you need a responsible adult to stay with you and why someone has to be in the waiting room your whole procedure. I also don't understand with insurance why payment must be made before the procedure. Usually you get the bill afterwards with the insurance being billed first. This seems very confusing and frightening to me. I would never seek care from this particular medical establishment.

Piece of cake mild discomfort at worst!

I have been diagnosed with T1 high grade bladder cancer . I had the TURBT but will need additional scraping & BCG treatment. I'm very nervous & scared of the treatment & possible return of the cancer. I have stopped smoking several months ago but damage has been done. I had no idea smoking caused bladder cancer. I curse the day l ever smoked as l became addicted & smoked for many years. I'm hoping to get through this without reoccurring or any further cancer. 🙏

Thank you for this all inclusive video. I had a TURBT performed in June, 2021, the results showing that I had high grade, non invasive bladder carcinoma. I then went through a number of BCG procedures. As of now, all of my cystoscopes have been negative. I will have another at the end of this month. Hopefully, the news will be good. Again, thank you for your accurate explanation of the TURBT. BCAN has provided some very informative information as well.

Please let me know - What about Alcohol or Beer impact on post-TURBT or reoccurrence of tumor ?
