Weltende (The End of the World) by Kendrick Tri Huynh - College of the Sequoias Concert Choir
A choral setting of the German poems ''Der Mond ist aufgegangen'' by Matthias Claudius and ''Weltende'' by Jakob van Hoddis, given its world premiere by the College of the Sequoias Concert Choir directed by John Sorber on Thursday, October 17, 2024.
''Der Mond ist aufgegangen'' is a well known children's song. It represents the calm before the storm. The poem opens the piece and returns near the end as a prayer amidst the chaos. ''Weltende'' describes catastrophe with brilliant creativity, evoking incredible images of rising seas and falling trains.
