4.2 is dual coil, 4.4 is quad coil(hum canceling if you wire it to allow for single coil operation). It's a really good pickup.

Thanks for checking out the video. Khary nailed the answer below. NA likely was trying to dial in a very similar tone between the MM4.2 and the 4.4. Indeed, some of the pickups truly sound much better in parallel - per the originals. I have the Big Blademan in a 4 string, wired in series....Most definitely going to add a switch to be able to use it in parallel as well.

Yep, good eye on the bass model. It is surpisingly well built for the price. Clean fret work and neck. The pickups and preamp are not good, but that is to be expected in a bass at this price.

Thanks for checking out the video. Each pickup comes with a volume and tone, and you can wire it up a couple ways using what is provided....to do a vol-vol-tone or vol-vol-tone-tone configuration. Yeah - I would agree. They have a different vibe even though both are ceramic bars. I have the 8CBP in a p bass that I built with an acrylicized maple fretboard and that bass really likes the 8CBP pickup. The bass doesn't need any extra top end or clarity up top, but a little bump in the low mids.

Same here...it plays pretty well too! It is actually a borrowed bass, and while the owner is happy to lend, there is pretty much no price he'd sell it for. His wife surprised him with it about 10 years ago, and in his stable of basses it will forever stay.

Wired in Series it's just beastly. I use the Alpha overdrive in my Darkray to try to get that sound. I wonder how my Darkray would sound with the BigMan in it. Hmmmm.

I feel the same way. If you have seen our Bass Build in 30 minutes, that is my (Brian's) personal MM bass. I wired it in series, and after doing all of these MM demos where did both Series and Parallel, I put it on my todo list to add that switching :)

@@Qwerty_134 Hard to comment on that question, as they have changed sonically over the years. Fender is getting these pickups made for them, and they are the most common pickup that we sell replacement pickups.
