It is something I want to get however, the one I want is very expensive of course I could use an inexpensive one in the meantime, but just haven’t done so yet. I have the coring system on a dedicated lathe so it can stay set up, but your correct the grizzly can handle it no problem as well. It is a great lathe for the price for sure. Thanks for sharing your experience with yours.

Thanks so much for taking the time to comment. Yes it’s a great lathe and we have the coring system as well. I will do a video on that in the future. And as far as older lathes , it does not matter if it gets the job done it’s a good lathe in my book.

@@SeeTheWoodTurn-cf8rv the first lathe had an out of round spindle. I had to crate the power head and send it back. (two more trips to UPS). When it came back the spindle kept loosening up. I bought a spanner wrench, but it would not stay tight no matter what I did. They offered to take it back and either just refund me or send me another. I thought it was a lathe with a lot of bang for the buck, so I tried another. They assured me that they would bench test it. So I crated up the old lathe and sent it back. (another trip to UPS) I picked up the new one (another... well you know) and set it up. The only thing that was disturbed in the crate was the cord. Apparently "bench testing" was opeing the crate pulling out the cord and plugging it in. I set it up and turned a small bowl. When I took off the chuck the spindle was almost too hot to touch. In my experience that says bad bearing. I called them and they told me that they tested it and if I sent it back and there was "nothing wrong" they would not refund my shipping charge. I borrowed a Flir IR camera from work. I tested it and it went from room temp to 120 F in 10 minutes with no load on it. Just the spindle turning. I crated it up and yet another trip to UPS. They refused to refund my shipping charges. I complained to the NC Attorney Generals office. The day I got an email saying they were investigating I got a call from Grizzly saying "it was a big mistake" and refunded the money. So..... That is my Grizzly experience. So I bought a Lagima 1836 and had great luck. Then several things went my way and I was able to buy a Robust American Beauty. I still have my Laguna and use both lathes.

@ wow, that certainly sucks. Sorry you had that experience. I would’ve been very angry and frustrated as I’m sure you were. I’m happy I have not had that issue. I also also have the smaller version of the Grizzly Lathe as well. One step down from the one in this video, it has not turned as much, but still no troubles with that one either. I guess I got lucky or you got very unlucky.

Between 15 minutes and a half an hour depending on how big the bowl is. It takes much longer once they dry to do the finishing part.

@@SeeTheWoodTurn-cf8rv it takes longer when it's dry because the wood gets harder?

@@Chief667 Sometimes that is the case. but it also has to do with the care it takes to really do a good job for the finish. When you rough it out to dry it is not nearly as important to make it perfect as you will be turning that away after it dries. Thanks for the question.

Well, that’s a good question, lol. I will tell you we have a couple other sharpening stations that do kinda stay static as far as the positioning however, this is the one that gets used the most because there’s three of us two of us use it a lot and we can just walk over throw it in the number we want sharpen our tool and walk away. You don’t have to take the time to adjust the table, so it’s much faster and much more efficient. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Well, they’ve been used extensively, especially the 7066 model and I like it a lot. No issues whatsoever. The only thing I would’ve done different which I don’t think is available through Grizzly is even a larger swing model, but we have a big one-way in here as well. However, the Grizzly with the outboard extension table, I can turn very large pieces.

Well, in the past, I used to use the expensive sealers that you can buy of course is multiple brands. However, now pretty much all I use is glue diluted with water.

Cool. I have used glue as well as CA glue for small pieces.

@@juanandrada6651 oh yes, definitely use CA glue as well. Use that often for stabilizing cracks, as well as stiffening up punky spots in the wood as well.

I think you’re talking about the cutter tip itself, if so it’s designed so it cuts off to the side of the tip yes you can just cut with the tip itself but if you take a little bit deeper cut then you’re shaving from the side of the blade and it does a much more efficient job of cutting material. I hope that answers your question. If not feel free to clarify. I’m still in the process of setting up the shop however we are up and running to some extent hopefully more videos will be coming soon.
