Can you give some tips for a 14 yr old who wants to start powerlifting i already do resistence
- Finding a decent coach or program to guide you will set you up for a lot more success than you could likely get on your own. - Hitting sleep and protein should be priority whether you’re in a calorie deficit or surplus. - Creatine probably the only supplement you really need to concern yourself with if you followed the previous recommendations.
Honestly, I just feel better when I lift. I feel strong, I feel athletic and I don’t feel like I’m aging at all. I know I just turned 25 but I’m feeling the same as I was when I was 20, 22. Still mobile enough but still getting stronger. I just like the feeling of being strong and lifting heavy (heavy for me )
I totally get you especially being 25 myself it just feels good to feel good
My why is that powerlifting kept me from having deep mental problems and is a good outlet to get rid of bad thoughts. Plus, getting strong is pretty sick. btw make more videos 😡

Absolutely. If your main focus is getting better at the big three lifts, yes, you're a powerlifter. I consider myself a powerlifter, but I'm not allowed to compete in anybdrug tested federations because of meds I take.

I don't have access to a belt squat. I squat at home, then do leg extension later in the day at the Y. Also use their machine leg press. The bigger Y across town has a real leg press, but I don't get down to that one too often anymore.
Home gyms back during the COVID era were something special man.
Sure, I can make a 45 pound jump, but it's more like from 315 to 360. But for real that is a pretty big jump. I'm nowhere near your level nowadays. I just hit a 365 pr a couple days ago. Went from 315 to 335, to 365. I find if I make bigfer jumps the pulls feel a lot harder. I used to be over 600 back in the day before Iraq and surgeries. But I'm slowly working my way back up. Good shit man. Gonna give you a sub so I can see your progress.

My why is to see what I can really do plus i started late in powerlifting at I believe 37 I’ll be 40 in March I mean I always worked out to physically look good but not so much for power so that’s my why. Also to just stay active as I age

My why: A couple of things really, but the two main things are proving to myself that I am capable of doing something great. Proving that the effort, the consistency, the integrity, that it's worth it and that in the end there will be lasting effects that show that. And second, to have some form of genuine positive impact on other people in this world.

I'm surprised how long the sessions are. 3 hours! Why does it take so long?
Warm-up. After you get to a certain point in strength, your warm-up sets take a long time. I'm not a "real" powerlifter, but I base my training sessions around one compound lift + accessories. Just doing the compound takes me one hour or so. Many powerlifters do two big lifts in a day + accessories. For example years ago I used to bench 70kg for reps. I would take the bar, then 40kg, then 60kg, then 70kg. Now I rep 150. The time needed to get through the warmup is more. The guys repping 70kg next to me have completed their sets before I unrack my repetition weight. Plus of course the rest time between sets is long when you're playing around with hard weights and high percentages of your 1rm.

@@GaoyuanFanboy123 more warming up feels better, makes me more hyped up and makes me feel ready and used to the weight. I have tried making that big of a jumps and the weight feels really heavy fast. I do empty bar x5-15 explosvlely, 60kg, 80kg, 100kg, 120kg few reps, 140kg 1 rep and then 150kg reps.
