Tongwei Solar, based in Chengdu, Sichuan Province in southwestern China, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tongwei Co., Ltd.. Since entering the photovoltaic (PV) market in 2006, Tongwei has grown into a fully integrated PV enterprise, covering the entire PV industry chain. This includes high-purity polysilicon and wafers, high-efficiency solar cells and PV modules, and PV power plant operations. Tongwei is the first PV enterprise listed in the Fortune Global 500.

Tongwei is renowned for its global leadership in the polysilicon sector, with a capacity of over 850,000 tons, making it the world's largest supplier. It has also held the top spot in global solar cell shipments for seven consecutive years, with a current capacity of 126 GW.
