    Had lots of rabbits. Gave away lots free to families with children. Grew lots for meat. Ordered timothy seed. Timothy is prime rabbit feed, green, or dried for hay. Timothy is a bunch-grass, making it easily controlled and non-invasive if cut at the base when the seed heads (the most nutritious stage) are not yet entirely brown. It has a very long window until the seed heads dry off and birds cleanup any seed that falls. Timothy hay stores beautifully and Timothy seed is extremely inexpensive when bought in a 50 pound bag. In my milder climate area, I could easily pullout any clumps to thin and let those remaining grow as perennials with the individual bunches enlarging over the years. It also breaks up soils, even clay soil. Its roots are confined in a bunch, and it doesn't have stolons.

    I hate when people act like gmo means its terrible evil food, you know most fruits and veggies we have are genetically modified through seletive breeding? Look at old Renaissance paintings of watermelon and see the difference in Just that one example

    • @FoodPlusFreedom
      @FoodPlusFreedom Месяц назад

      Thank you for your comment. Selective breeding is not gm (genetically modified)or ge (genetically engineered). Genetically modified or genetically engineered means the food has been genetically altered at the cellular level in a lab. Many have been genetically engineered with pesticides. Pesticides that kill bugs and weeds for the perception of a crop to grow better. If the pesticides harm soil and bugs, what’s it doing to humans? Food is genetically altered for other reasons as well, but we aren’t informed of the alteration. Selective breeding is working with nature. Genetically engineering is altering nature.

    • @FoodPlusFreedom

      It has to do how it’s pasteurized. I was told by an old commercial goat farmer 15 years ago. Coors was the only one he warned us about. Now there are tons of beers available. The darker the beer the better and good hops.

    • @shellbellbutterfly
      @shellbellbutterfly 2 месяца назад

      @@FoodPlusFreedom The beet greens are far more nutritional, than the beets, themselves. Good for the chickens and their egg production or the compost, but better for us. My grandmother always put vinegar on the dinner table and we would add a little vinegar to our greens (spinach, chard, beet greens, collards, mustard, etc.) and it was delicious. I still gobble down piles of them. Beets are delicious (especially, roasted), but those greens are the GOLD. Blessings in FOLLOWING CHRIST. 🙏🏻👣👣

    I used a thick tarp laid on the floor, spread them into a single layer and let them ripen with the windows open for airflow but not in direct sunlight. Monitor them everyday to remove the rotting ones. I made a mistake of putting them in a cardboard box and coved them. Some started to rot coz I didn't monitor them daily. The smell was extremely bad and wouldn't go away for weeks. It was my first time but I gained some valuable experience.
