How to instal presets?
You navigate to color adjustments section and next to presets thumbnails window you see small three dot circle, click on it and import presets
@@martynas1 done! Nice work
This quick touch up seems like would work well on products too
It seems to me that Photomator itself does better if you apply the high resolution option (don't know if this option is available in Pixelmator). Either it looses less data due no noise reduction.. or just the upscaling itself plus the automatic noise reduction yields better results than just the auto noise reduction alone. Not the best long term solution, but better than the blotchy mess we currently get. It's kind of unfortunate because otherwise the software is my favourite. Lightroom cc is damn nearly unusable on laptop, kills battery like nothing, etc etc.
Yeah, usability wise it's truly lovely for everyday quick adjustments but the more I dig in, the more I feel like I miss lots of definition out of photos when trying to extract best out of RAW. In less demanding shots, Pixelmator/Photomator is fine but I simply get more organic, consistent results in Lr/PS.
Thank you for an incredible review! We'd gladly answer any questions about Dehancer in the comments.
Very good 😍 photos Martynas
Martynas is back 👍🏼 The ka-ching sound effect for Leica 😄
Thanks, I am glad you noticed it!
The apple raw engine is just bad. I always wondered why my photos looked so bad (talking about picture quality) compared to others. In comparison lightroom is way better
Yeah, I made a video about RAW engines and apple RAW engine is clearly destructing quality.
Could you do an update after pix Pro updated the raw engine?
Hi, just checked the update - it's only for new camera support, nothing else has been done in terms of performance of handling raw file differently.
@@martynas1 Thank you, I have posted your video on the Pix Pro forum for Improvements
@@MrOliver1444 Thank you! I wish Apple would improve their RAW engine
It is a shame that Pixelmator being compared to this kind software. Pixelmator Pro is the new king.
I don't see any shame in comparing two paid software units, it's a simple opinion by long time user. And by the way, as much as I like Pixelmator Pro, Skylum RAW engine is way better, I have video on that.
Pixelmator Pro gave a sneak peek that the raw formats will be updated soon. Done by Apple themselves and Pix Pro will adopt it. A lot of camera formats will be supported. Lets see how good at is after the Update
Hi, it is just a small update on supporting new cameras, nothing was changed in terms of file handling. It's still doing the same "corrections" before user starts editing the Raw image.
Is Photomator having the same problem?
Yep, since both softwares are using Apple Raw engine, you get same results
Hi Martinas ! We've really liked your channel. We'd like to collaborate with you. How can we get in touch?
Whoa, thanks for noticing my channel! Please write me an email to skids.robotic-0z@icloud.com and I will comeback with answer!
Love your tutorials. Thank you for sharing Martynas.
That means a lot to me! Thank you for such a motivating comment <3
I have Photomator on my IMAC currently and it is brilliant. Can I use 1 copy for IPAD also or do I have to purchase a 2nd licence?
I think it's one license for every device, you just have to be on the same icloud
I'm still noticing this "wash out, blow out" thing in the latest version, in fact, just today photo taken is natural viewed in Apple Photos, but over-exposed, washed out when viewed in Photomator...
Same here, but mine always looks darker and color shift. Sometimes I prefer the preview/non fully loaded color of the RAW, but it’s so hard to achieve the same color😢
@@chingqhi just starting using Photomator and was noticing the same thing. Thought I was losing it. When I look at a raw photo on the film strip I like the colors and contrast of the image. But when I open it to edit, that look is gone and the image is more washed with less contrast and saturation. And I can never get it back to look like the preview. 😢has to be a fix for this somehow.
@@blakeabernathy4051 I figured it's how the Raw engine works, it's better if they have a similar camera profile feature in lightroom to mimick the original colors
Are you able to do more (thorough) Pixelmator Pro tuts? I'm dead eager to learn more. Thanks.
Hello, I don't have any worries about the beginning of the tutorial until 1mn 40 and then I can't reproduce what is done with the grouping of the 3 layers. Can someone help me? By thanking in advance for the answers of those who could help me. Best
Hi, you choose one layer, hold Shift and select the top one, selection of all layers in between will be made. Then just group them through contextual menu.
Ty bro
Didn't know about any of these, thank you very much!
Amazing! Thank you so much.
THANK YOU
Cheers!
“With the new 3.3 version, they took a significant step forward in the good direction... I didn’t want to use the Apple Photos library, but now it’s possible, and the annoying message has disappeared! Thanks for the review.”
There's an even easier way. Instead of adding an extra layer for the red, you can actually apply a color fill layer effect to the same layer where the threshold and Gaussian blur are, and this way, you can save the entire effect as 'hallation' and reuse it every time you want as a complete and single effect you can apply to any image.
That's totally right, I did not even think about it! Thanks for great suggestion
Very clever and thank you for the brush download - having an experiment right now. Cheers from New Zealand.
Nice, hope you find it useful!
Can you save this as a preset to do this with other photos?
No, I don't think it's possible, you would need to write custom Applescript for that
Check out contagious_laughter comment for solution
P r o m o S M 🎉
Hello! I can't figure out how to load these effects into the editor. Maybe you can give me some advice?
Hi, you open Pixelmator pro, go to Color Adjustments section and next to all color presets panel you see tiny bubble with three dots. There you will see Import function. I also think, it is possible just to drag and drop preset right into presets panel
@@martynas1 Thank you! Happened. Do these presets have stronger/weaker impact settings? That is, to slightly reduce the degree of influence of the preset.
Probably through the transparency of the second layer it is possible to achieve the effect. I'll try.

Thoroughly enjoyed this video. Thanks a lot, Martynas. Request you to kindly prepare a video showcasing the various ways one can use the text tool in pixelmator pro. Wish you a Happy New Year. Your 382nd subscriber 🙏
Thanks a lot, Mr. 382! Noted it for future video!
Thanks! Interesting.Interesting! Have you tried to make a timelapse of the pictures?
Hi, thanks for comment, but it is not possible to make a timelapse here: you can't combine all pictures into single timeline. For sure, you can open all your images, batch edit them, export and later on connect them into single video file in another program but it is not convenient and can't be done in single program, so no, pixelmator pro video is best used just for convenient color grading.
Love this. Thank you Martynas for sharing. Your 382nd subscriber 🙏🏽
Hi, thanks for sincere comment and subscribtion! Hope you have a great year!
how did you align the images in the first place ?
Hi, they are not aligned, just stacked to group. If your shots slightly change angles then you might get into trouble
TY for this!
Hi, thanks. But is there a way to make a photo with motion? Examples are like Apple Music cover art. Like, Taylor swift’s 1989, or Olivia Rodrigo’s GUTS. Any way with pixelmator?
Cannot really find an example of your mentioned albums with motion so can't speak for it. But generally video feature is super limited, you basically open it, color grade, add effects and cut. That's it
The video label should have been making a video photo a moving photo. I was expecting a tutorial on how to animate a photo with subjects moving. My mistake.
Hi, no way it is possible to animate just a photo using pixelmator. Also, Cinemagraph term means combination of a still image and a video which is the case in this video.
Photomator's amazing, appreciate your insights
It really is amazing software, thanks for watching!
@@martynas1 🙏👍
Hi, thanks for giving your thoughts - couple of things firstly the apple photos issue /should/ be fixed come November so you can open any file without photos like pixelmator pro, secondly wondering if you've used Affinity Photo 2 & if so how you feel this compares in both features/raw processing & price please?
Hi, you can open image in Photomator from any source - it is not required to upload to Photos first (same with Pixelmator), but hopefully pop up window will be resolved. As for Affinity, I have briefly tried Photo 2 and it could not be more different. It is more like Photoshop and is loaded with various tools that are similar in Photoshop. Raw engine approach looks more or less same as Luminar - it preserves details and doe not try to apply some sort of noise reduction. However, the whole editing approach is rather different. You won't have quick and convenient access to filters or quick adjustments. Learning curve is a lot higher and if you are on the go, Photomator is way better. Afiinity costs even less which is impressive considering package you get but I would rather have it as complementary software in case I need something more advanced (like panorama stiching, extended transformations or else) instead of one and only editing app. It's simply tries to do a lot rather than focusing on a single mission - quick and fun photo editing which Photomator excels at (most of the time).
Great summary of using the app so far. Thanks. I'm looking at Photomator when I get my new camera because I'm not planning on doing a lot of post processing (not to begin with at least) and after playing with LR and Capture One, I felt they were too complicated and had a pretty steep learning curve. This app seems much simpler. That popup annoyance... is that due to it being 'linked' to Photos? Can you not open images from a folder without going via Photos?
Hey, thanks for watching. Yes, Photomator is connected with Photos as a primary album and from there you can make adjustments or revert it to original as well. Speaking of opening images - you absolutely can open any image straight from your memory card but that image will be added to photos gallery as well. So you don't have to import first photos to Photos.
Cool! Can you show us how myou made the background of that first one? :)
Hi, I can upload a work file of first female image, so you can look up more closely
@@martynas1 that would be cool too 🤗
@@brndblm Hi, I updated video description and added a download link
@@martynas1 sorry missed the notification. Thanks for the effort 🙏🏻✨
@@brndblm cheers!
amazing thanks, I'm new to macOS, and I want to buy a photo editor, do you recommend pixelmator pro or photomator?
Hi, I am going to create a video soon about using Photomator for some time but so far I would say this: if you are totally up to photo editing and nothing more, I would go for Photomator. It's really became my number one editing software and currently is with discount. However if you need some extra, you need Pixelmator. In example, I create my thumbnails with it, It would not be possible to do it with Photomator.
@@martynas1 ok, thanks.
Nice one! Nice explanation, makes it look quick and easy.
Thanks! It's truly motivating to read comment like yours!
I wish that Affinity was as easy to learn and use and as tightly integrated with MacOS as Pixelmator Pro. It is a highly underrated software.
Affinity is more like Photoshop for much more advanced and difficult tasks rather than pure and easy photo editing. Affinity deserves respect for what they offer, it’s a great software. Few years ago I made a speed video where I created wrist watch from scratch using Affinity Designer
Amazing that you can do these in Pixelmator Pro. Thank you for showing us. I'll be checking the rest of your videos. Good luck!
Cheers mate, I hope you'll get a valuable information for your workflow!
Great lesson as always👍
Thanks a lot! I am happy that someone finds these videos helpful
@@martynas1 it's really so!
