Diesel mechanic tools that I use daily! Husky Tool box tour Snap on vs Icon what do I use Tools of the trade TikTok: obs_cole69 Mddp @jordoncampbell @
No.
Damn hoss
My theory is just buy good tools 😊 don’t spend on tools just buy husky
Nice box bro! Better to have more cheaper tools and stay out of debt. Still have my first Snap-on 3/8 ratchet $70,and screwdriver set $80. I went 4 years slowly buying better used tools at flea markets and pawn shops, occasionally buying new tools from Snap-on..but very slowly. I financed a 42 inch craftsmen roller in 1994 for $350,and 400pc tool set $200 was making $7.20 an hr at 17.😅
Thanks for your review it's going to help me evaluate my Husky 46" x 24.5" mobile tool box when it comes in. I ordered it online so I will be inspecting the ends of the drawers and if the casters annoy me I will be surfing the net for some rubber ones. Just a DIYer so I really won't be moving it around, as for your set up appreciate it so I can figure ahead of time the lay out I will configure. Thanks again.
Just picked mine up for $320 since it was a scratch and dent.
Was looking at this one. Thanks for the heads up on the build quality ,wasn't even aware that they sold this box in 2 different qualities. Sure am glad I saw thisbbefore I pulled the trigger on the cheaper one, thanks again!
You're not going to get a quality box for that price, especially these days. Maybe a decade ago you could, but even then that's still on the super cheap side. These boxes are not for professionals, they're for casual home use. If you want quality, step up and pay $1500.
🤣
The Summit racing is the same generic supplier as Stanley and a dozen other brands. The HF are ok, especially since they are free with coupon, occasionally. Wilde or Mayhew makes the best, imho.
Very clean shop and well organized toolboxes. Are y’all actually mechanics??
Just bought one today and home depot had both. I got the one like you have because it held 200 lbs more not knowing the other version was cheaper built for the same price. Only difference I saw was mine is 3/4 " taller but I didn't notice the trim around the power strip until watching this.

Sounds Great !!
Please! 😂😂😂 Milwaukee used to be better. They aren’t the king anymore. They have too many irons in the fire trying to produce too many things which has made what they used to do best, substandard now. I used to agree with ya but Dewalt upped their game and is better right now. I just switched all of my drills, etc., to Dewalt.
Idk bro millwakee is ❤
@@colecogley7575na bro, DeWALT has the best impact wrenches on the market in 12 volt and 20 volt, sorry to burst your bubble, it is what it is 🤷🤦
Absolutely 💯
I can't take people who justify snap on seriously 😂😂. Rather not be a slave to these rip off corporations. lol the CEO of snap on prob smirka at all these stupid people deep inside while he's getting his private island paid for.
You should be proud to Atleast understand not to get a loan for a snap on box hahaha
Working on diesels the roll of paper towels might be the most important gear I can see
I have been working at a tool rental center as a mechanic for the last 5 years ( all Stihl and honda ) it was my first ever job, just put in my two weeks today and starting at a diesel shop this Friday. do you have any tips? I have never worked on vehicles before.
first off, what a american baddass.. make you sure listen to kid rock american badass and do ashoutout for TequilandTacos ! fuck ya bro!
The "screw holes" are for a metal pegboard that Husky offers. It is a nice thing to add. The drawer slides are supposed to be rated for 100 LBS but are crap and fail after 2-3 years (I've had mine almost 4 years now). Three drawer slides need to be replaced and I'm not looking forward to replacing them. Other than that, I am happy with it.
I have Milwaukees pry bar and pick set and have outdone my buddies snap on set I ordered them from Home Depot for $90 bucks shipped to my house they’re really nice I’d you are looking for a upgrade then all or my sockets I use are from Mac tools they’re expert brand and seem to do great I also have a set of their ratcheting wrenches which so far have been really great
Nice tour, but never compare this brand to that cause, doesn’t matter if it’s snap on or hyper tough, if your a good tech, brand doesn’t matter. No disrespect.
I hated the icon screwdriver set. They slipped so easily i went ahead n bought the snap on one
You’re doing it right bro. Good tour and good vid. You got a new sub 🤙🏻
I like your setup as a starting off. You having the idea of not having debt right from the beginning is great way to always have money for what you want to do away from your work life. I was always the cash and carry mechanic and I was always being bugged about stepping up by the snap-on fanboys. I always look funny at them and tell them I am not in debt how about you. Then I take my lady out to dinner and enjoy that steak as they ate hot dogs. I had a advantage when I started off at 17 years old, I went in the Air Force and they trained me as a vehicle mechanic, provided me with tools and tossed me in with the sharks. I actually saw what worked and what did not because back then tools were the lowest bid tools that the government bought, some of the tools were awesome and some were not even worth being a boat anchor. When I left the Air Force I had saved for almost the entire 8 years active and went and got a full set of Bonney tools and paid cash. So 39 years ago I had a head start and had close $4,000 in quality tools in todays dollars that would be close to $11,000. I ended up wrenching but ended up training later into aviation mechanic and did that for the next 30 + years and retired in 2017. Oh yeah those Bonney tools did the entire career for me.
Where you been? I love your attitude and content. Keep rocking brotha!
Anytool that makes you money is a good tool.
My son just started tech school for diesel mechanics, and in searching stuff I found your channel. Keep the videos coming, you’ve got a new subscriber. 👍🏻👍🏻
Hey bud I got 2 years in heavy diesel work tractor trailers all day I also rock a husky and us general boxes Cheap tools that do the job Tekton Casoman Icon ratchets Milwaukee wrenches Sunnex Milwaukee pry bars Never had issues Others I did spend money on Impact Matco pneumatic Milauleee electric guns Snap on dead blows I always went cheap and saw how long it last if I get a year out of it and have warranty I just buy it again Never take loans and don’t let peers pressure you into buying into the account on the tool truck Live debt free and enjoy your money Keep on wrenching my friend
Nice set up I really like how you didn’t push the tool trucks very very good point on the debt thing too. Thumbs up Love them socket holders I’ll have to check into them myself
Do you have the model number
I love the icon screwdrivers and picks
Trash!! 😬 this was incredibly cringy
Good idea on refusing loans.
You are a smart dude! No debt.
We didn’t all start with snap on, Mac and Matco etc, you seem to have a good head on your shoulders. But what you can afford and when you break it that shows you use it enough to warrant a quality brand. I started with craftsman over 20 years ago and built from there
Gearwrench master 1/2 inch socket set with metric and standard deep and shallow is pretty cheap on Amazon and no skip sizes never broke one
Your thinking is solid. ❤️
Sir we don’t call those bolt rounder 9000s where I am from we call those nut f*ckers
I've got those screwdrivers, they work great for me
I'm an industrial mechanic/ machinist. Some suggestions I can make for you to avoid the snap on truck is mayhew prybars ( i believe mayhew used to make matco prybars), wilton hammers for a sledge hammer, proto anti vibe for ball pein hammers, trusty cook for deadblows ( I think trusty cook makes snap on dead blows). Good choices on the milwaukee 12 volt stuff. You seem like you are killing it man keep it up.
I can agree, stay away from any of the re-branded "snap on/matco" stuff, Taiwan will get you the exact same quality for less then half the price. Exclusive brand loyalty will loose you slot of money. I don't own any snap on as I believe there are better tools for less nowadays.
mayhew makes the cornwell prybars and various punches for other brands. good usa tools for the price i personally own the dominator set and i work in hd diesel
I just picked my Husky box up last week. I agree with you with the casters. They're horrible. I definitely plan on upgrading
It's funny our shop has guys with the snap on and some with milwuakee 1/2 guns, and there are alot of instances where the milwukees won't break something loose but the Snap on will... Not sucking the snap on dick, it's just the real world use I've seen in person.
I have had that Braun light for 3 years now and I have had it in a shop for 6 8 months now that I am back at turning wrenches and I love that light and I love the wrestling trays I have them in orange and black and tekton is great shit nice box man don't do what I did snd get 4k deep on the truck it was stuff I needed and the payment was good for me and my dealers are great but at the same time it was not necessary if that makes sense I had some per pressure lol
Been looking for the perfect beginner set up and your layout is awesome dude
If u have any questions on stuff I’d be happy to answer!
Great video 👍
What magnetic pry bar holder are those on the back of your box? Those are great.
Those are from snap on very pricy but….. they hold a heavy pry bar well
@@colecogley7575 Thanks. I tried searching for them but my Google-Fu white belt failed me. Can you provide a part#?
Great to see a young tech making good choices and not buying just for name brand.
Nice video!! I have the US General 44 inch!! Works great love it so much!!
