Learning Lab Introductory NVivo Workshop March 2024
In this session, Dr. Michael Beckstrand will lead a hands-on workshop about NVivo, a qualitative data management and coding software that aids in qualitative and mixed-methods research. Participants will learn how to add source materials, work with concepts and definitions to apply to their source materials, make annotations, and query and manage their work. Having NVivo software already available is highly recommended to get the most out of this session, but you are welcome to follow along without software.

    thank you for your information ,if you don't mind let me ask you some questions about FGD .1. what is the unit of analysis in FGD ? 2. how can we analyze the data that emerge from FGD ( there are different ideas in FGD , and there are a lot of codes and themes in FGD, so which theme is going to report ? is maximum variation with in the group or across the group ?

    Great demonstration of FG. Although the participants stressed my mind out with the excessive use of the figure of speech "like" in communicating their ideas. I really do not understand how our grammar has developed to this style of infusing "like like like" consecutively without end by a large number of interlocutors 😅. Overall, great listen.

    I really appreciate the idea of introducing key questions only when everyone is already engaged. That sets the tone for a comfortable environment for conversations to flow.

    • @dennissykes5173
      @dennissykes5173 2 месяца назад

      Yes, after the opening and the introduction people are more apt to talk freely. There like warm up questions. This makes introducing the key questions easier. They don't really see them as key the are more likely to see them just as part of the conversation. Natural flow.

    I did a three-day training with Richard Krueger about 20 years ago as a doctoral student and his method has served me well for many years doing qualitative research using focus groups. I am glad to see these video resources here and I will use them as "refreshers" as I prepare for new focus groups. As I watch this, it is amazing to me that I have "internalized" this method so it is almost second nature now and I think that is because he was such a fine teacher! It is a great methods that has vast applications in the social sciences.
