We found a “share taxi” sign at the airport. We followed the signs and found the vans. It dropped us 25 minutes later about ten blocks from our B&B for €8 each. We should have taken the train… closer to our lodgings. Taxis in Palermo are super expensive and predatory in the manner you describe. Thanks.

Wouldn't be a staycation for me, as I live in East Anglia so would have to organise a vacation/holiday to go to Hastings. This is because it is too far for a daytrip. And anywhere where you have to pack a bag, travel and stay overnight (especially in paid for accommodation) cannot be classifed as a staycation as you are not staying at home.

I just came back from 2 weeks trip to Brazil, family of 5. One of most unpleasant things I experienced was the fact that in many attractions, like Jardim Botânico in Rio the price of entrance for foreigners is double the price of Brazilian citizens and sometimes there is no children discount for foreigners' kids. That was really unpleasant.
