Stop tournaments it’s killing the fish and to much cheating. Fishing is not wat it used to be.

It was judged.... It was reviewed and held decision.... Get over it. The 2nd place guy has plenty of wins and checks under his belt.... No one is perfect, no system is flawless. They reviewed it, tuff if he or any one else didn't like the outcome. Quit crying and fish.

Here's an idea... just try to have tournaments that you can trust aren't being stolen by lying assholes. It's a waste of your money to drive across the country and spend lots of money to put up with charlatans pretending to be anglers.

I think he was/is trying to bring to light the judging process and the inconsistencies along with turning the leaderboard off one hour before the end of the tourney during and after a high dollar prize contest. He’s a winning angler with an impressive resume he doesn’t need the win or the money. When asked about the judging process (what factors were used to determine the outcome) Hobie had no comment and refused to appear in an interview from several influencers. I think it’s a reasonable question when payouts are many times decided by as little as a quarter inch and could be thousands of dollars as in this case.

While RUclipsrs continue to use drama for clicks none of you realize the toxicity of this sport is driving potential huge money sponsors and one I know for a fact, away from kayak fishing. If you would look at the bigger picture, getting to where we can have the top level make a livable income tournament fishing, you might realize you and other channels are hurting our sport more then down right cheaters do. Become part of the solution not continuing to be the problem for views.

The protestor is all over social media, live chats, etc crying over this crap. Move on.

I’ve caught the same fish during the same tournament multiple times. That’s not counting bed fish. The ones I know about had very distinct markings. I’ll bed there were a lot more that I couldn’t tell.

It was ruled 2 different fish. Move on. But in the day of social media, you are gonna hear that 10% that complain about EVERYTHING that is ruining fishing.

I've seen pods of bass with a dozen of the exact same look. Almost perfect copies every catch.

This is why I don’t support tournament fishing at all. It is impossible for man or woman to compete without cheating or mistreating fish. Ban tournaments

Looking for macro "differences" is not how to confirm or deny identity/individuality of a bass, If there are no similarities, THEN they are different. They did not look closely enough at scale color patters (which is a 'fingerprint'), at an individual level. Looking at FINS is notoriously unreliable-they are the most changeable part of a bass' anatomy-either on purpose or accidentally.

What's a good month long online kayak tournament to get in? I want to get into doing some tournaments next year. I joined the local Slay Nation 2025 trail here in GA so looking forward to doing that one and getting on some new lakes.

I am so honored to call Trey one of my best friends. Proud of this man more than anyone reading this comment can understand. Every time he tells his story, to one person or many, it changes the world. I'll never get tired of hearing it, sharing it, and supporting Trey in his mission and life. The outpouring from the community for Trey always fills my soul man. Kaya fishing is about community like you said and Trey just really embodies all of the good behind it. Chad's comment summed it up so well - Trey teaches me how to be a better person. I love him for that. Cannot wait to see the Recovery Ranch come to life someday. Also for the record when Trey told me to blow on fish he didn't say anything about LIPS!

You guys have made me sit here and cry this morning! What a beautiful story from an amazing human. Trey, I do hope to see you around! In the early 2000s, I struggled with addiction. I lost nearly everything I owned, my teeth were starting to rot out, I sold my bass boat and fishing gear to try and recover from debt. I hated the mistakes I made which caused me to turn away from everything including fishing. 20 years later I purchased a Hobie kayak, restored my fishing gear collection, and I hope to never look back! If drugs come back into my life, I'll lose my kayak community. You Wild Boys help keep me on track :)
