So, adding something as simple as "Chopsticks" solved their issue? Sometimes, "Keep It Simple" is the path to success. 🙂

Wow!
🇿🇦 My favourites from each album Control: Let's Wait Awhile Rhythm Nation: Come Back to Me Janet. : That's the Way Love Goes New subscriber 🇿🇦South Africa in the building🙏🏾
I love Blinded By The Light. One of my favorite songs ever. They showed how you're supposed to do a cover, not a simple recreation of the original but how to make it your own. Also Manfred Mann and the various incarnations of his band are so interesting. They changed from a 60s pop group to a weird jazz fusion thing with Chapter III to prog and back to pop again with the Earth Band.
Totally true….
I’m so very sad but I could see it coming @ the b day for Willie Nelson because he was shaking while he stood there very happy to b with his close friends ! ❤️🐇🐰🌹🎼👻💕✌️☠️💀⚡️😢🥲🎸👽🪐🛸🚀✨💥🥰😘😍love + peace forever to all !
Never about feminine hygiene products.
Count me as a new subscriber Doc. I really enjoyed the content. The lighting is great, the background is subtle, and your voice is like honey coming through the mic. If it wouldn't offend I only have one recommendation ... when you do the lyrics try to more speak rather than sing them. You're getting caught in between and it comes across a little awkward. That's it. I already have my eye on several of your past videos that I want to share with my wife. She's a huge Prince fan. I very much look forward to future videos. Love what you're doing. And thank you again.
Thank you! I’ve been unofficially asked to ditch the singing by others outside of comments, so in later vids, it’s been replaced by (gasp!) the artist’s own voice. Thanks for the comment and your sub.
In 2005, Springsteen himself commented on this amusing mistake. “Deuce was like a Little Deuce Coupe, as in a 2-seater Hot Rod.
Hi. That was a nice way to share the beautiful "Evergreen". I was a teen when the film and its soundtrack came out and it was a BIG deal then. In this scene I believe John Norman Howard (Kris) was in the studio with Esther Hoffman (Barbra) as she was recording her first album and, in that context, this wasn't a duet as much as it was just the two characters engaging in some loving playfulness during a "run through" of the song. As far as a full-on duet between the two, "Lost Inside of You" is a better fit to that bill. And though it was recorded as a duet during the filming of "A Star Is Born", the duet version isn't in the film or on the soundtrack. It is however, used contextually in a songwriting and composition scene ( Labeled "Piano scene" here on YT) in the film, and John is playing Esther's solo performance of the song in his car when...well...during his final scene in the movie. Again, nice review! Thank you!
My family plays his songs all the time. Especially now emotional and very great full that I grew up with Kristofferson. My whole life from 15 on....I'm 68 today
Thank you Kris
hey, just came across your video by searching "the magic is working covers" here on youtube (and finding nearly nothing), because, just like you, i've been kind of obsessed about this song ever since i first listened to it a couple of years ago. as you said, it's not one i listen to every single day, but every now and then i catch myself singing it. as an absolute believer in magic, i must say, man, music really is magic. it's crazy how two people from totally different backgrounds may be so into one same thing and bond around it. i'm a 26 year old (meaning i wasn't even alive for almost 2 decades after the song was released) brazilian, english being my second language, and yet here we are. just saw janet perform for the first time in paris last week and it was amazing! she's still got it. and even though i had no hope that she'd perform that one, it made me once more go back to my random humming of "the magic is working (i'm falling in love!)". before getting here, i was mourning some of the michael songs he never performed live either - such as liberian girl or girlfriend, some of my personal faves. it's a shame but also amazing that there's so much good music out there that we're only left daydreaming about some performances or visuals for some of it. great content! other than that, something about your eloquence made me think about the great james baldwin. had to subscribe :) ps: just saw your other video about diana ross' muscles, another one i'm crazy about! only disagree with you saying it's a guilty pleasure. no guilt involved at all for me, a certified bop ✌🏼
Wow! Great comment! The power of the internet. There’s always at least 1 other person in the world with such a connection. YT is great in that way.
realmente lo lamento mucho siempre sera un Gran country music singer and writer..icono de una generation . La mia.trascendio la Barrera del.idioma RIP krist kristofferson
A legend!
legend say no more
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
It means Deuce coup
Mishearing song lyrics is fairly common.
I DISAGREE WITH YOUR ASSESSMENT OF THE TWO VERSIONS. I THINK YOU NEED TO SACRIFICE THE MONOLOGUE AND CONCLUSIONS UNTIL AFTER THE SONG IS PLAYED BY THE ARTIST ...... this would give us the entertainment value of that mentioned and lyrical elements discoveries in ADDITION to the music ...... can't see how that is not evident !?
BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN while a brilliant composer, competent musician and good singer ..... however he had the gall, arrogance and ingratitude to receive a NUMBER ONE HIT for his COMPOSITION of this song ..... yet did not like the interpretation and pace of the Manfred Mann band version !?!? My God what nerve. IT IS FAR BETTER THAN HIS SLOWER, LESS IMPACTFUL tune lacking punch and dynamic delivery ! Never understood Springsteen's cheeky slight of the song. Sales of the two prove him wrong. Love this tune BY MANFRED MANN !!!
try reality, Bruce was a Nobody and Manfred Mann were already famous AND they made him because when record companies saw Bruce as a Songwriter gave him a chance and 2 YEARS LATER he became famous by the Push of Blinded by the Light, that is exactly why, because he knows he was made on their coat sleeves
I didn't downvote your comment because I'm not that petty. But Springsteen wrote the song. Is he not, at the very least, entitled to his opinion of the cover, whether, or not, it served him financially? Love your passion for Manfred Mann. How long have you been the Manfred Mann Fan Club leader?
"Borderline" reveals Madonna as a great vocal interpreter. She uses the necessary dynamics to highlight each verse of the song with emotion. This is an irreparable and eternal recording. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I know that was a misheard lyric but douche is German for shower
Dusche, yeah OK wow, sleep much
Am I the only person on the planet who knows what's wrapped up? There's an old English expression, "wrapped up like a Christmas GOOSE"!. Oh, now it all makes sense! BTW, Black Betty is about a gun. Not a person. Black Betty was replaced by Brown Bess.
wow sleep much, she had a child and the damn thing went wild, yeah,, also, not wrapped up, REVVED UP, another runner in the night
Deuce, a 32 Ford, usually chopped and built up. "Another runner in the night", either racing the clock or another car.
or running from the cops because Racers would indeed run from it, and not always a 32 but any Ford Coupe that was Modified, but the 1932 was the style they went for
Pretty Flamingo
The Power Station rocked and helped to bring hard rock back into a mainstream that was deliberately ignoring it at the time. Kids and teens at the time were not so inspired by all the synths of eighties "New Wave". They wanted the rebelliousness of 50s-70s rock and roll. Arcadia is heralded as artsy but the Power Station hit a chord with the youth of America starved for rock and roll. Also, the Power Station sounded much more Innovative combining hard rock with funk. Arcadia seemed a step backward.
I agree …. For the most part. Yes, I feel Arcadia was more of a vanity project, and TPS represented the DD’s bone thrown to those DD fans who crave more of a rock edge. The latter project was more earnest.
I really like your delivery, you would make a good DJ!
Thanks! I think I missed my calling.
it says “revved up like a deuce” for the carborator.. they were moonshine runners
Revved up like a duce... A duce coupe refers to the 1932 Ford Model 18 coupe
My mom listened to their music when I was a kid.I:ve loved him evvery since!💔💔🎉🎉
❤❤❤
This song always resonated with me. In multiple different stages of my life. ❤❤ What a massive talent he was. Thanks Doc. 😊😊😊
Have you heard the version of Dolly singing this song solo??
I don’t think I have.
Don’t sing dude !!!
Greatest most versatile female vocalist of her generation. Get Closer is a great album. Linda's vocals are better than ever as she was taking vocal lessons at the time for Pirates of Penzance. Mad Love is a fine album but Get Closer is way better, imo. Disagree with you on one point, I think it is essential Ronstadt. Get Closer actually got good reviews even by Rolling Stone Magazine. It went gold and almost platinum, selling 900,00 copies before going out of print. I love Linda's work with Nelson Riddle and her Spanish albums. She also did some incredible albums in the 90's although Linda's commercial success was waning. What's New was released in 1983.
RIP Michael and Farah I had forgotten about Farah. Michael was and is a phenomenal entertainer. He deserved to be crowned King of Pop. He gave us so much. And every bit IMO was amazing. This was one of my favorite videos too. Right up there with Sledgehammer and Land of Confusion. ❤❤
I love this song. I always have. Great presentation 😊😊❤
Thank you!
Live in New Orleans!!!
LOVE this album. I never understood the knocks it gets from some Ronstadt fans as I think it fits right in with her classic 70s albums. Thanks for a great analysis.
RIP FRANKIE WAS AND STILL IS MY PHILLY MAN SEXY FRANKIE. IF YOU HEAR THIS MUSIC YOU KNOW WHO IT WAS HE WAS LAID BACK SMOOTH OPERATOR SALES WAS ALWAYS SOLD OUT PEOPLE WAS DANCING TO HIS MUSIC BEFORE HE CAME OUT ON STAGE OR CONCERT. Sorry but what they are talking about in a duce carburetor .
Dude, Deuce Coup aka any Modified Ford Coupe, seriously, not a Carburator
douche is a wrap around shower.
Manfred Man in his reincarnations is a very fascinating band. First as a typical 60's group, then a progband through 70s. Messin is one of my favorites.
Good comment. This dichotomy is what I tried to achieve with this video. Glad you caught it.😊
@@doctorpunditManfred Mann , original followed by Manfred Mann's Earth Band
I love his music we are One I love that song he going to be well missed he was a great artist in a great singer and I'm really really but I still be listening to his music 🙏🙏
