The D model has a totally redesigned lower unit, where they did manage to cut out quite a bit of the "bulk" and weight, while maintaining the durability.

For the MFS30D, with electrical start - you would be looking for the MFS30DETS or MFS30DETL (short "S" or long shaft "L") and then you would order the multi-function tiller handle separately.

  • @kaavest

I think many neglect the plugs, but they are as important as fuelsystem oil if boat is much in use, there is a lot of load and rpm in there . I have this 9,8 2 syl on a Pioner 10 Norway boat. But even if a so small engine, it get thrown wery much at it in the season ,one hour each way on close to full for islands from the door where i live, different rpms through a channel before fjords and so on. You want the plugs to be in good shape and oil and i change oil after ab 50 hours because it,s no oil filter on that one and cost nothing to do. a 2021 boat and engine. Impeller last much longer is my experience and you can watch if it start go a bit bad, the last one a 25 it lasted 8 years but that is not recommended go so long. when change this one after some time, i deliver it in, that is one of the jobs i really dislike on a outboard.

Tohatsu is absoulute reliable even the 9,8 4 stroke i have i go from my door through a channel, down to some islands after 3 fjords and back. I even never think about that it should stop as long as are vigilant on fuel ,full tank clean fuel and oil changes. For me it,s jsut a extention to the fjords from my door in spring summer start autum and it,s already vent ab 170 hours.a 2021 . But in 12 years prior i used this 25 EFI four stroke, that engine newer stopped until boat get stolen. So i purchased a smaller one to enter the channel where i live to get acsess to the fjord. A 10 feet pioner PE Norway boat. I run it quite in the upper register ab 15 knots and 90 % effekt
