Stop Negative Self-Talk with Review of Melania

#sandysaysread #bookreview #memoir I filmed this review one weekend in mid-November 2024 but didn't want to interrupt all the Christmas content. It seems appropriate to start the New Year with a positive look at avoiding negative self-talk, which I found to be a pleasantly surprising underlying theme (or tone, if you will) in this memoir from former and soon-to-be First Lady Melania Trump. September Booktube Wrapup for SandySaysRead with October Prognostication
Don't forget to suggest a novella-length book by an indie- or self-pubbed author here in the comments!
Great Video !! Happy 2025!!
Thank you! And Happy 2025 backatcha!
@@SandySaysRead Thank you!
Favorite childhood book and I read the trilogy in one book so it was at the time the biggest book I read. My first big kid book.
Have you found/read the fourth book that was mentioned here "Dragon's Heart"? I'm glad your comment came through this morning to remind me I want to find that and read it! TY!
Chinese Year of the Dragon ends on the 29th, so tell me what dragon book you're hurrying to finish up before then!
I forgot to put Tina's book in the description box. Tina Murray has the Starlight on the Gulf romance series, originally with ArcheBooks. I've forgotten the name of her new publisher so you guys just might have to come to the Sunshine State Book Festival and chat with her to learn more! But her first book is A Chance to Say Yes. That's the one to start with if you're looking for a contemporary, billionaire-superstar, second-chances, romance.
If you're already subscribed to the channel, let me know right here what you think the subscriber community should be called! What should our fancy schmancy name be?!?!?
What do you know about the Ebenezer Temperance Society? Can you share some details?
Reading is Therapy! When you're feeling down, what kind of book do you turn to?
Y'all have to tell me if clickable things really were clickable out there for you...trying to get somewhat professional here. I think I managed to force YT to put the suggested videos at the end in the right spots now and I feel like celebrating!
Thanks for the forecast! A bit off-topic, but I wanted to ask: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). Could you explain how to move them to Binance?
Reading requires effort, like working out. Easy to see lifting “gains,” but nobody in our culture rewards psycho-cognitive gains - in fact, they are often ridiculed. Broken cultures stay broken due to having been broken by the people who profit at the top. If our leaders wanted actual thinkers, the American educational system and cultural values would be vastly different.
Hi Sandy. I did your Christmas tag the other day. I’m not sure if you saw it. 😊
Hey! Awesome! I don't think YT tagged me so I'll go check it out!
@@SandySaysRead I definitely tagged you and mentioned you in the video. Not sure why you weren’t notified….
Doh...stuff happens
I think I need to take more brain-fixing vitamins to get some of this stuff to stop happening. (Or get a job in Congress where my colleagues will cover for me. 😝 )
@SandySaysRead it's one of them things we're dealing with these days I guess. I don't think much of it what do they say? Think of it as a new feature
Is it the portrait of Dorian Gray or is it a velvet Elvis? Coz it appears after the Elvis reference...and it's blue...
You are correct my son at SIU had to read catcher in the rye. He actually read it and just like his father thought it was overrated and sucked and hated the protagonist but he's my son he is tough to get to read a whole novel but he actually did it but he didn't have to you are correct
When I was in college, many moons ago, one of the novels we read was Stand on Zanzibar. I'd never heard of it, despite it having won oodles of awards and being transformative in scifi circles. I read it, was thoroughly confused, discussed it in class, and came away with a new appreciation for it. To this day, 957 years later, I still appreciate the fact I "had" to read that non-linear and bizarre experimental book. I'm glad I did it. It was a bizarre experience for sure...
To be fair, modern students have A LOT on their plate. The system is outdated and in need of revision.
I absolutely agree that the system is in need of revision. Shelly's video (which is linked in the longer vid this is linked to) talks much more eloquently than I can about the education systems she was/is involved in from her POV.
Well it's probably more like WHY DO YOU WANT ME TO READ THIS WHOLE THING WHEN I HAVE 12 OTHER ASSIGNMENTS TAKING UP MY TIME, BITCH??? They feel overwhelmed because they ARE overwhelmed. You wanna judge someone? Judge your fellow professors. Y'all need to realize your class is one out of five or six in these kids' lives and all of you are demanding all of their time like you somehow deserve more attention than any other class. Organize yourselves according to the position you fill. An hour of work AT MOST is all you are worth.
Both the public middle and high schools I've taught at have required students to read multiple full books throughout a semester. What I think you are taking about is the lack of stamina and perseverance students have these days, which is a reflection of the greater society and the pandemic.
That's interesting. I wonder if the school district you were in was in the same state as the district Shelly (her video is linked in the longer video) taught in. I agree that there's a lack of perseverance out in the world these days...
Teachers are cheating.
Also people are feeling more depressed... how do you feel safe to let go and read in a place like this?
In the longer video, I suggest one of the ways to encourage reading is the therapeutic nature of reading. Personally, I find reading a great way to escape and bring me back to balance...
@@SandySaysRead Yes, you find that, but newer generations might not find that relaxing. You are projecting expectations of yourself onto others.
...and having a conversation...it's a conversation to explore and suggest. Did you watch the longer video with the full suggestions?
@@SandySaysRead No, and I don't appreciate your robotic response suggesting I should watch more of your videos. 🙄 You're just adding to the problem.
@@zacharyacoon You might have misunderstood my intent...and that's okay. I recognize you were projecting the depression onto others and there's something more taking place here. Again, that's okay. You don't have to watch the whole video or the other videos I've suggested. You don't have to add anyone else's ideas to yours. This is a free platform for folks to take what ideas they want...and reject those they don't. Best wishes with your reading goals!
Thanks for the tag. I'll try to do this in December
Thanks for tagging me... bah humbug..I'm not too Christmassy....the only Christmas books I have are from Charles Dickens. Like you I have no hot cocoa in the house...I do have apple and cinnamon tea, which I guess is as festive as I can get.... just call me Ebeneezer...
apple cinnamon tea is fabulous...I've gone through a few "sparse" Christmases where all I had room/mental health/money for was this wacky blue-tint little plastic tree about 5 inches tall with probably 6 or 7 lights built into it. That thing? That thing is still with me to remind me I can celebrate at whatever level is comfortable. So I applaud the apple-cinnamon-tea level!!!!
Perfect!! Now I want to see it. Great time management ♥️
🤩
What a lovely tag! Thanks so much for including me, Sandy! I will do this one very soon! 🥰
Wonderful! Spread the good vibes!
I tend to run from birds that squawk “dead” at me. 😂
"Dead" or "Nevermore"...neither bodes well for the person hearing it!
Hey Sandy , happy sunrise 🥰 thank you so much for tagging me in your video ! I really love your idea to do all Christmas books since we’re so close to the holidays ! I’ll have to add a few of these to my never ending 😂😂
I am wandering around a grocery store and was not prepared for your self talk and started laughing. Best of luck to your competitions and I hope the sink problem gets solved.
Ha! My job here is done...
Sorry I missed the livestream. Great chat with Nessa!
It was great to chat with her about her writing so far!
Thank for tagging me... this is a fun tag. Love hearing about all the books you are procrastinating on. :)Oh gosh.. I feel the same way about tagging channels that are a lot bigger then me. I try to tag those under 1000 or who I actually have connected with.
Similar thoughts here...if I've been checking out a channel for a bit, it starts to feel more "familiar" and I get braver. 😆 I look forward to your stuff these days!
You should never feel weird to tag anybody, no matter the size of their channel! I’m always happy to be tagged anytime!
There are some very kind creators out here like yourself who I feel more comfortable approaching than others. :) It's a joy to connect with you!
Thanks for tagging me, since college days I have largely chosen my own reading...
In my college days, I was excited by a lot of the reading assignments, but, like you, I've chosen most of the books for myself since then. I think this BookTube thing has gotten me to expand my horizons. And that's nice!
The artwork is mine. I dabble in digital collage when I need a break from the storytelling part of my brain.
I dig that. Still creative...yet different.
TY for this looks like something I would enjoy as well
Thank you for tagging me! (I just changed the name of my channel) I think tags are so much fun to do ^^ I'll try to get it done in November
I had to double-check to make sure YT left me subscribed even with the channel change. Yep. I like the "enchanted" in there. Nice!
Thank you for the tag! It looks like a fun one and I have way too many books I'm behind on!
Same. Too many books are waiting...waiting...
I have a question for you from a newbie working on a first novel - I’ve hired an Editor I send a chapter a week (up to 5 k words) and he returns it within his marked changes and suggestions within a couple days with good suggestions. I pay a monthly fee for this service. Is this a pretty normal way of working with an editor? TY for your time
That's kinda the way critique partners work moreso than editors. Typically, if you're talking about a fiction story, you send the finished MS to the editor so that person can assess the entire story, content, plot holes, character arcs, use of tropes, etc. The only "editor" I've ever heard of requesting partial MS from me was a scam artist who negated our contract because I didn't want to join tiktok as part of my marketing plan. (You think I joke...) I am NOT saying your editor is a scam artist. I'm saying the only experience I've had with partial-MS editing was a bust. Having a critique partner/editor who encourages you to get each chapter accomplished in a timely fashion could be fabulous and awesome for completing the whole MS. Will the editor be available to re-edit the entire thing when you're done? Because that's how editors typically work. Typically.
@@SandySaysRead TY for the info! I read and left a review of Under The Ice (wintertao) really cool short Sci Fi. Thanks again.
@@steveclark8538 Hey! That's cool! TY for the kind words!
Glad you did the tag. Great answers as I expected. It's always a good time for story time 😂
If anyone is looking for another horror series, I recommend BlackWater by Michael McDowell! Great character work! Oh, Dreams of Desolation was delivered yesterday..Can’t wait to start it on Halloween!
Thank you for doing my tag. I really enjoyed your answers. :) I also loved Little House Series. Stuart Little would be an awesome friend lol.
Befriending the characters in books kinda happens as you read the books, right? But to have Stuart running around the house, hanging out after work, chatting about little mouse activities...that would be very cool. (I may just want a talking mouse in my life.)
I was looking for a horror series! Thanks
I haven't read the rest of the series yet, but I've turned in my stuff to be an author at the SSBF again in 2025. Hopefully I can run into Miguel again and buy the rest directly from him!
TY !
We have an ink printer and the ink dries up faster than we can use it. Evil printer cartridges. New Zealand would be a great place to visit - I think the shire set is still there for tourists. You don't like non-fiction? Sandy! lol, oh well, everyone has different tastes and preferences :) Great answers to the tag - happy Tuesday :)
Thank you!! (The pixies that inhabit my printer probably drink the ink in the cartridges...) I think I read more non-fiction than I realize, but I avoid it because I want to be in another reality...like the old Calgon commercials. "Calgon, take me away." But..."Bookworld, take me away."
You can hang out with me, Sandy!
Yaaasss! I gotta get my stuff filled out for Imaginarium and then we can all make crazy requests for booth placement of Holly & Cassandra to ensure maximum party-ness on the exhibitor floor. WOO-HOO!
Thanks so much for the mention! 💗 This is such a fun tag! 😁
It was fun to do! (And eye-opening to count up all those books I've been neglecting...)
Very Good report and dissemination of this work by the Great Stephen King!! Here in Argentina the Hard Rock band "Rata Blanca" dedicated a song to the book in 1991.
ruclips.net/video/d6bFK25bdEI/видео.html
TY for this !
Glad you stopped in!
Oh, this is GOLD!
Are you being sarcastic? Because I would say this is a very silly video... 🤪😜😝 But I thank you for the positivism anyway!!!!!
@@SandySaysRead You weren't going to win an Academy Award that year, but I was entertained and that, I believe, is ultimately the goal.
Very good presentation of Concepts and Video!!
Thank you! Still working at that 1% improvement idea...
I might have to do this one. I love quick, easy tags. My channel has definitely changed since I first started 😅 Loved your answers for these prompts.
This one was quick...but it wasn't easy for my brain! Had to think!
Thank you so much for doing the tag. It was fascinating hearing about your exerience as an author with someone reviewing but not reading your book - shocked!
TY! It was a quick tag, yet it made the brain work! I enjoyed it! Over the years, I'd heard booktubers discuss the idea of reviewers/other booktubers NOT reading the books they talked about, but I didn't like the concept of accusing someone. And then I saw it "in real time" with Silver Bells. Very bizarre!
