I got a very late start this year but things are still looking pretty good. had a little surprise in my tubs. I would encourage everyone to set a tub up or to and enjoy some nature. what would you put in your tubs?

Very cool set-up.
You can definitely skip the cap if it's a planted, but it will leech more crap from the soil into the water. I've done it successfully tho. Especially when it's rain season and it does natural water changes.
@Silver_Creek_Aquatics I "thing" I will have an algae problem, but I want to find out. That's the point of doing this. I'm hoping that, eventually, the knowledge I gain will make me very successful. Thanks for your input. I just need to decide on what plants to use and acquire them at a reasonable price.

The pair i received from have done real well! Was a slow start but they've made alot of fry! I should probably try to find some hopefully less related specimens
nice i like it. i would also prob rais something under it as well haha.
I definitely thought about that. The only problem is getting it back out from under there.
It looks like a nice setup. I've tried ferns but didn't have any success so will be interesting to see how they work for you.

Hey Pyle I have some fry that I found while moving stuff around do you think you would be able to tell me if you think they are killi fry? I worry that guppy fry stuck to my net and snuck in to my killi tank.

I love using algae with my fry too! I find it hides them very well and holds an incredible amount of microorganisms.
