American Hay Man
США
Добавлен 2 янв 2024
Matt joined his dads hay farm in 2019 and has helped grow the north central indiana operation since. We primarily grow alfalfa/orchard grass mix hay for horses. We hope to bring entertainment, education and fun to you from our experiences.
This Has Been A HUGE YEAR!
2024 has been another growing year for the operation. I am very thankful that I could document most of it through RUclips. I hope that next year will be as fruitful and we can all enjoy it together!

Have been looking for another rake to add to the line up and finally found one. I can't wait to use it this up coming hay season!
Spreading Gravel or Rocks?

We call it pea gravel around here but I think it is technically rocks.
Picked Up More Skids

We have a tendency of ruining skids so I got some replacements. I do not know the exact count but they should last a while.

Had to install ventilation on the shipping containers to keep the hay fresh. Just about ruined my knee doing stupid stuff!

Wilson Almost Waited Too Long

We took gamble that Wilsons field could be baled later in September. Little did we know that a hurricane would push us into October. The weather cooperated and we got it baled!

A whole year of RUclips!? Time 🪰’s
When did you buy your Bale Barron and did you buy it new or used? Also what push you over the edge that you decided that you had to have a Bale Barron or else knowing that it is a big investment?
The Baron was bought new in the spring of ‘22. The list of advantages of using the Baron is very long. I will make a video soon about it and explain everything.
Can’t wait for the hay cutting season. Love your show and love to hear you talk and explain things. You are funny and easy to understand ❤
Thank you! I’m excited as well!
Good video. What type of rake did you use before the rotary rake?
Dad had used a rotary rake before that NH and before that was a wheel rake. Wheel rake is not as versatile as a rotary. Especially with making small squares. This is my first rake ever purchased.
It never seize to amaze me how people assume that tractors don’t have the right to be on the roads. It seems like ever year it just gets worse. Good job of scraping. I really like 40 series JD they are no doubt just great tractors. Don’t know what part of Indiana you are living in. I live in southern Indiana warrick county and we got more snow forecast for the rest of the month. We got hammered with ice storm and were without power for several days. Used generator so we survived without to much inconvenience.
The drivers are definitely getting worse towards tractors on the roads. Plus the phones on their face while driving. We try to stay on roads with less traffic but sometimes have no choice. We are north of Indy about 40 miles.
Good video.
Nice video and nice set up with the two wagons and lots of help. But they’re stacking is not correct. They need to stagger the joints on every layer less likely to tip over fall off.
You are correct with the stacking. The customer lives at the field that we were baling. Therefore there was no traveling with the wagons. Thanks for watching!
Are you guys from laughingville. 😂
We enjoy life!
I bought a Kubota rotary rake in 2022 and it’s really nice. 10 foot rake and it makes nice winnows. Don’t know if you own any other Kubota equipment but I really like their parts set up. If I wanted to I could get all the parts from them an build a compete rake. They pretty much told me they could have any by no later than over night. Hope you guys have good luck with your new purchase.
This is our first Kubota on our farm. Our cousin used only Kubota hay equipment and got along fine. Fingers crossed!
Ahhh you were at Craigmyle equipment. Good people. We bought a couple tractors over the years there
I was satisfied!
GREAT VIDEOS BUT I DON'T SEE OLD SCHOOL. NOW GET YO WORK
It’s always open for interpretation. I was glad to do this with my son so he knows it’s nice to sit in a tractor and let the machines do the work.
What part of Kentucky did you buy it i am in western Kentucky
Craigmyle Equipment near Owenton
You never make it where I live here in Michigan at seven below tonight 3 mile an hour we both
No Thank You!
Where are you from I live in Eastern Kentucky
North Central Indiana
South Florida is the exception to people getting better as you go farther south. And the cancer is spreading north...
Ha Ha! If it was always hot here I would be grumpy all the time!
When it was loaded rake was raised. May not have had to remove the teeth.
The ramp angle was too steep to hook the tractor to it and raise it safely. Plus I want to remove all the arms to grease them so they won't rust bond to the socket.
The way he said "first try" made me think it was really his tenth try 😅
The beauty of editing!
Bro, I would’ve been white knuckling through those hills!!
Nice Rake
Thanks!
Good video and nice looking rake.
Thanks, we are very excited to put it to work!
How permanent is that temporary fix?
Until it doesn’t work anymore 😂
Good video.
Love the sound of the truck ❤
Might not be a show winner but it continues to get the job done!
Thanks God ❤
I cut a lot of pallets up sometimes and burn them in my wood stove
Definitely makes good stove wood. Just gotta deal with the nails.
Good video.
Pallets are a handy way to keep hay off of the dirt. Definately prefer the skid steer for moving anything around!
Agree! Tractor worked better in that situation because it was soft and kinda muddy. Skid steer would have made quite the mess
I think it's amazing to see a machine that was new when I was a teen coming back to work some more!
Back when things were built better!
@@AmericanHayMan You are right there!
Good video. Are you going to make a video comparing the conventional and the inline balers? And the pros and cons of each one.
Absolutely!
That's not old school baling
It never spun out .my ford f350 would push it across the road into the ditch with ease
I'll call you next time!
😊😊😊
Love it ❤
Tractors are more difficult for me that the skid steer.
A++ for intro drama! 😂
I can be dramatic sometimes...
Old style is when you throw the bales up on the trailer.
Old school is when you scythe swath and gather.
How many bales/ bundles fit in those containers? What size are they container's
I can get just over 20 bundles in there. This time I left air space for the circulation.
The containers are 40' long and high cube.
Good video.
“ the A.W.C, anti wasp club” wilson im DYING 💀💀💀 as dad walks like a mafia boss with the spray
Had to show them who's BOSS!
Glad y’all work together with your daddy. We did the same with our daddy. Enjoy all the time yall get with him because when they are gone your heart fills empty. Love your show and thank you ❤
Good video.
What is ideal bale length for the bale baron?
Manufactures recommendation is 32-34". By the time the Baron squeezes and ties the bundle then they are basically 36" bales.
Satisfying! ❤
Good video.
I went through this with my Gehl 5525. The water pump was the same as an Isuzu diesel engine. Between rodents and rigging it's always an electrical adventure on any old equipment. For auxillary hydraulics you can usually tap the line coming from the pump, and put in another valve on a T fitting.
Enjoy all your videos. Lots of good Hay
I finally took the time to view your first video.
What moisture are those bales being October hay ?
15% and lower. They turned out perfect!
Thank you ❤
