Making Pottery Plates.
In this week’s video, which is the last video of 2024, I’m making three pieces on the pottery wheel using white clay: a flat plate, a deep plate, and a bowl. Each piece weighs 420 grams (0.93 lbs) and is made using the same method, with the only difference being the pressure applied to the edges during shaping.
The plates were bisque-fired at 1000°C and glaze-fired at 1070°C.

thank you. your pieces are lovely! what, exactly, is this glaze? it is exactly the shade and tone i have been searching for all this time.
Beautiful bowl, set and very nice demonstration! No talking helped with focusing on what you were doing! Interesting kiln shelves, I haven’t seen those before. They look like they would be light weight. What kind of kiln do you use? What is the weight of each clay ball in lbs? I did not understand the scale.
Question: Why don't you throw your piece directly on the wheel? Why the board? I just started pottery and am interested to learn different techniques 😊
The board makes it easier to move the piece without disturbing its shape.
the scratching of the glaze made me so uncomfortable 😵😩
yeah, I tried to stack the plates really gently but that sound always happens.
I like your videos.
Thank you!
Is this porslin clay? Lovely videous, thanks❤
Thank you! It’s white ceramic clay, not porcelain.
Keep up the good work bruv!
Great video
Thanks!
This is brilliant!
Thank you so much!
10oz or less clay is hard to center when you have big hands.
That’s right, although my hands aren’t very big, I try to do cone up and down a few more times to center the small amount of clay.
@maanceramics It felt awkward, but I eventually worked out how using a few fingers from each hand. Btw, I liked the simplicity of these bowls and cup sets. It's nice how they pair at the end.
Thank you so much! It was really hard for me at first too. I tried several times until I finally got the hang of it. I think everyone needs to figure out their own way of holding the clay, just like holding a pencil when writing.
Beautiful. I got totally invested in this video. Thank you for leaving the natural sound too. Wonderful :)
Thank you! I’m so glad you enjoyed it. Your kind words mean a lot!
❤😊
Stunning ! Also, happens to be in my favorite colour..
Thank you so much!
I love your glaze. Any suggestions on getting started with glazes? I Iike the desaturated look but I’ll have to fire oxidation. I feel overwhelmed trying to get started making my own dipping glazes. And thinking about food safety on top of that 😩
Thank you so much! You can start by testing different combinations on test tiles with varying percentages. Test with opaque and transparent.
Totally stunning… thank you so much
You’re welcome!
Lovely❤
Thank you!
Beautiful butter pot, , thankyou for showing the whole process🎉 the lid is a lovely shape and the dinky handle just sets it off😊
Thank you! I’m so glad you liked it.
Thank you for this inspiring tutorial! Your work is simply lovely and the glaze you used is gorgeous.
Thank you! I’m really happy you enjoyed it.
Riveting!

Thank you! Up to 250-300°C.
cool bro this is fire
Thank you! Glad you liked it!
this is amazing! may i ask how many centimetres did you make the lamp holes?
Thank you! I made it for E27 socket, a little over 4 centimeters wide. like 4.1 or 4.2 cm
@ thank you 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Could you please give me link to this electronic device? Thank you sooo much , I want to make my own lamp but I cant find where to buy this cables etc. 😢
I had shared the links in the comments, but they have been removed. The links are available in the video description.
I like this one.
Thank you!
👍👍👍
Brilliant
Thank you!
Beautiful work! What do you do with the glaze you scraped off?
Thank you! I haven’t decided yet. It’s better to use wax, but I don’t have any right now. However, when I collect enough and it’s reusable, I might use it for brushing glaze.
@@maanceramicsI see! I guess I just don’t know if it’s acceptable to dump back into the glaze bucket
If the glaze isn’t contaminated, it can usually be added back to the bucket. but I prefer to keep it separate until I decide how to reuse it.
Beautiful lamp!
Thank you so much!
that's great
Thank you so much!
Curved all the way!
Thanks a lot!
how many pounds are each ball of clay?
It’s 300 grams, or 0.66 lbs.
Nice work.... Can I know what kind of clay it is??
Thank you! I use white ceramic clay for wheel-throwing.
Спасибо за подробное видео. Сколько грамм глины надо взять для изготовления такой кружки?
Thank you so much! for this mug you’ll need about 300 grams of clay.
@maanceramics Спасибо, что ответили.
👌👏
WOW! It's so lovely. I love the glaze choice. It reminds me of strawberry milk.
Thank you! I’m glad you liked the glaze.
I enjoy watching you throw!
Thank you so much!

سلام، وقتتون بخیر، ضخامت گل پهن شده چه اندازست؟
سلام ممنونم حدود ۴ میلیمتر
Does ur glaze thickness is less ?? I see some empty kinda patches after finals fire in ur video.
Do you mean that part of the teapot that doesn’t have glaze? the glaze dripped off there, and I left it alone. But if you’re talking about the thin glaze in general, that’s due to the higher bisque firing, which makes the clay absorb less water. The ideal firing range for this clay is 850-900 degrees, but I went with 1000 because I was firing other things too.
Hi, in new to pottery, could you please explain the painting process? Is that a red and blue underglaze and then dipped in a transparent glaze?
Hi, yes, these are the underglaze colors I painted with, and dipped in the transparent glaze, then fired at 1000 degrees in the kiln.
i don't need another hobby i don't need another hobby i don't need another hobby- looks great! I love the shape of the teapot
Thank you so much! Once you get how it’s made, you can make any shape you want.
Lovely video! The teapot is very cute 🤍
Thank you so much!
