That's why i use mobile mechanic's, i can keep an eye on them at the house, and they don't take it out for a thrash.

Mate!! I feel your pain!! It does my head in taking my van to a garage. First was a clutch change , Got it back and drive shaft seals were pissing gearbox oil, steering column gaiter left off. Nuts and bolts found around the window wiper arms. Took my van in twice for a knocking noise and said it was fine. Couldn’t find anything! Ended up doing both suspension top mounts myself which I had paid over £300 6 months before they were completely nackerd. Had drive shaft seals replaced, mechanic lost my lock nut for the alloys! Feel your pain. It’s made me learn a lot more about motors so can just do it myself and not pay silly money for a poney job!!

I’ve come to the same conclusion. Everytime I get a car back from a garage there been a shitty half arsed job done that I could have just done myself. Just cause you paying doesn’t mean anything will be done correct unfortunately

I'm so glad my father taught me from an early age how to work on cars now he's disabled I do all repair work on his car my own car 2 of my 3 sisters who drive cars. And some friends cars. And every car I've worked on has passed there mots. And I always take pics and document what work im doing.

Then remembers he was the one who took the headlights out, & did not have time to fit them back in, cos he had to go pick his nan up from Bingo, at the Feathers!

I live by a good rule of thumb. If they want my cash they can deal with me being there. I will be quiet, read a book, chat if the guy is sound, I will even do a greggs run if they are doing a good job. But never leave the things you care about with strangers.

I've been a tech for 25 yrs I will not do any bolt up until it has been torqued to the exact spec and have personal pride in what I do and I am very rare in alot of garages I have worked in you would be amazed how little pride in there work some people have it's shocking

I feel your pain, I am sick and tired of telling my customers that the so called specialist has done shite work and covered up their bad workmanship, grates me even more when I lost the initial job because this specialist has done loads and is highly recommended! But with each one I put right I get highly recommended to the next person that wants a job doing right! I dont have a flashy website or post everything to social media because I am a one man band and too busy doing the work on the vehicle!

That all depends what you took it to the garage for. If it was just for engine works, then all that loose fittings wouldn't get fixed. That looks like that car had a few smashes in the past.

You take it to be repaired ? looks like a lot of broken fixings

I had the same …… got charged £3k to swap the engine on a transit ( pride & joy ) I supplied the engine …… it came back with the A/C Hoses cut , radiator leaking & missing brackets , heat shields missing , pollen filter housing & filter missing and my front bumper held on with zip ties ……not mentioning the 1/2 tank of diesel gone and swapped with used engine oil This was found out later when it broke down with a blocked fuel filter and half destroyed injection pump as a result When I went back to them I was told to fuck off and prove it 😢
